Bit at the end to quickly address the negativity in the hobby - value is still there. Dont feel like you need to chase sealed product or get caught up in hype in order to enjoy or participate - singles market in particular is for sure the place to be! Don't get caught up in the negativity that some people in the hobby go on about! Enjoy what you do.

I agree about the negative videos like Frosted Caribou's being unhelpful. I watched the entire thing and she seemed to lack a lot of perspective, but also added sad music which hurts my ability to take her seriously. The only reason people are able to make money with Pokemon is that there is genuine demand. I would love for there to be a giant bubble and prices drop 50% tomorrow on cards I want to own. As for modern product availability, that's on TPCi and Cartamundi. Talk to them. We're also going through a pandemic that hurt supply. Try getting an RTX 3080 or a PS5. Quite difficult right now. And you're completely right about buying singles. Opening packs is fun but if you just want the cards, singles are cheaper anyway.
