You're 1000% right about the problems with the sm wholesale boots. I got their new run of the type 2 service shoes around a year ago (wore them for almost a year and they've held up spectacularly, but I've stopped wearing them for now), and while the quality, craftsmanship, and materials are worth the price, the last (shape of the boots) is horrible. The instep is extremely high on the boots, so much that I had to downsize to be able to wear a pair, and I still had to install kilties (additional leather layer that protects the tongue of the boot) just to be able to get the laces tight enough to properly secure my heel. I've also had the same problem with the narrow forefoot causing the leather and my foot to hang over the outer edge. SMW advertises their boots as EEs (wide or double wide depending on who you ask), I"m sized for an EE and wear my other boots in EE. I've compared the SMW boots to my other pairs as well as measuring them and they're clearly not wide, in fact their NARROW. They really need to fix the fit issues with their boots. I would happily buy more footwear from them because the quality is worth it and they honestly look pretty badass, but the awful fit issues are a dealbreaker.
