Very nice and informative video, I have an upcoming online interview with a US university whereas I am currently in Asia. If I clear this interview, do you think they will be willing to fly me across the world for the on campus interview? And should I ask this at the end from the committee or I shouldn't such a question?
@DrganguliКүн бұрын
After the interview they will probably inform you about further action. They do fly people every now and then for campus interview. Some people schedule a conference visit around the times of feb- April when most interviews take place. If you need a visa that may add to the times. @@Drganguli Great resources, thank you Do you think it is possible to hold the on-campus interview online? I fear that international travel may negatively effect my overall chances of getting the position, should I ask something across these lines in the interview?
@Drganguli6 сағат бұрын
@ Such online interviews were the norm during the pandemic. It may be possible. Universities don’t have much funds so may be reluctant to fund foreign travel.

Very useful content. Thank you so much Dr. According to your experience for fresh PhD holders. If they applied for a faculty Job and a postdoctoral, after that they got both offers. Which offer you think is the better to choose?. Thank you
@Drganguli2 жыл бұрын
In most cases faculty offer is better unless you feel that the postdoc will get you into a better faculty position. But the future is unpredictable whereas the offer at hand is real.

Professor, many thanks for the video. I am concerned about those questions which committee ask which are neither related to your research work nor you can remember. They will ask questions opposite to your background. In that case, what should be done?
@Drganguli Жыл бұрын
Well you have to answer the questions to the best of your ability. In case you are completely at a loss, you can say that you need to do research on that area and then you will be able to answer. Or you would find someone to collaborate with to address that question as you are not an expert in that area. If you have any specific questions in mind, please write in the comments.

Professor it is about questions which are asked from teaching course. They ask from any course and any topic. I think it is difficult to remember all topics of all courses. In this case, what should be done?@@Drganguli

Sir i have a question, if there are two candidates in which one is phd holder and other is only NET qualified. Regardless of the performance during interview, who have the higher chance of getting shortlisted.
@Drganguli5 ай бұрын
PhD will help in most cases. But interview performance also matters. It also matters if the institution is teaching oriented or also does research. The quality and university of the PhD degree versus the masters degree of the candidate, and communication skills also matter. If you are hiring for a teacher role, ability to talk and explain concepts in class will be key and if the PhD is not good at that then that can hinder him or her.
