The term U.F.O. was first coined in 1952. Before that; Flying saucers, Flying disks, Ghost ships, Ghost rockets, Foo Fighters. Maybe a couple of times "flying object" U.F.O. is meant to be said as one word "yoo fo" not said as individual letters. Should be credited to Capt. Edward J. Ruppelt (first director of Blue Book) made classification easier as not all sightings were of saucer shaped objects.
