Probably the best answer to the outro question in the series so far

This is a great interview that reminds us to not fall for truisms and simplistic answers. Look at the data.

They just looked at rice yields? Not overall agricultural output?

The author looks simply at efficiency of the farmers output but shows no data on what was paid for the crops and what the comparative net profits were for land owners. Plus, the land is a tangible asset that enables farmers to take loans. Land ownership is everything, the author looks at one data point and makes a book out of it, ok, but, weak sauce.

Basically like a sort of interesting, like, topic, but all I, like heard, obviously, was, sort of like, the phrase "sort of" repeated, basically sort of three hundred and, like, fifty-seven times and stuff

Very interesting. But I wonder if the Taiwanese land reform was adversely affected by the small size of the landholdings. On the other hand, it does provide evidence that land reform was not the engine of development. Ijustwishthattheinterviewerwouldn'tsometimestalksofast.

Please talk with a bit more mature tone. Its not what you say, its the way you are saying it thats holding you back. I'm 73 years old.

I was thinking the same. Rolling or singing words together. I wasn’t sure if this was a serious podcast or a sorority party. 😂😂

I'm young (ish) and it drives me nuts how prevalent "like", kinda" "sort of" and upward inflection is in my generation. Is no one certain of anything??
