Regardless of the way and the number of times Serena Williams defeated Maria Sharapova, they both respected each other, both on and off the court, it was a clean rivalry and nowadays they meet at any event and greet each other and talk. People always have morbid and masochistic thoughts about rivalry situations that never really existed. IMHO!

The off court drama came when tennis player Grigor Dimitrov dated both Serena and Maria at the same time, neither knew about the other for some time. Maria also threw jabs a Serena about off court earnings (Maria made more money off court) she had a deal with Porsche cars and said who would you rather see getting out of a Porsche me with long legs or her .... Even recently Serena maintains that Maria was often rude and dismissive about her and Venus...... She and Venus said they let their tennis do the talking 👍😊
