Hannah Montana, Raven, Lizzie and Wizards were the most iconic shows, period. And I mean that factually, like statistic wise. And movie deal wise. Etc. Sister was actually an ABC Family show...but Disney had a deal with them so they played it. Unfortunately Ant Farm didn’t do that well, neither did KC undercover...I think it was not because the talent wasn’t there but because the generation had grown up and Disney started to change about then. Screw Disney for what they did to Coco. Disney and Hollywood Records (Disney’s record label) really failed their black artists like Raven Symone, China Anne McClain, McClain (the musical group with China and her sisters), Zendaya, Corbin Bleu, Jordan Fisher and Coco Jones. Why couldn’t they have done the same they did for Selena, Miley or Demi or even Bridgit (queen).

Let me just say, as a white woman, this video is so eye opening. Colorism is real. Racism is real. Black women and men are BEAUTIFUL & God's gift to this earth. Every race and ethnicity is. No one should have to fight tooth and nail for the same chances that others get. I am so sorry that people have to deal with this and any other type of racism & colorism. I know I've never had to go through this and I may never FULLY understand, but I pray that things change and everyone keeps fighting for what is right. I support you and I am behind you every step of the way.

Yeah thats how it is with most entertainers. It’s a business at the end of the day. These record labels, studios whatever most of them only care about money. Not art If you want to do your own thing you’ll have to be independent put out your stuff on your own. On your own time and money. Not on someone else’s. If it’s seen that you have a huge following/ fans/supporters then major labels will sign you as you are and tell you to keep doing what you’re doing because you have the fan base. What you’re doing is marketable there’s proof. If you had a record label making millions of dollars and you know people who look, sing, dance and dress a certain way that gets a lot of attention which brings in millions of dollars. Sex sells unfortunately. And that’s what the industry goes for. So Then you sign an artist who you discovered from a movie who looks and sings exactly the way that gets a lot of attention who in your eyes can sell sex basically but first they need to dress and dance in away that has always brought a lot of attention/money to your record label but the artist you brought into your million dollar record label wants to do her own thing on your dime. Wants to do whatever she wants, sing however she want, dress and dance however she wants to dance and dress. Are you going to take a gamble and spend a lot of money on this new artist who wants to do whatever she wants not knowing whether it’s going to make you money? Knowing you can possibly loose a lot of money letting your new artist do whatever she/he wants. People don’t think about the business aspects of it. A record label or studio you sign to are paying you close to millions of dollars at this point a lot of them are going to think they own you because of how much they are spending on you. You’re basically a product Especially if you sign a contract that gives them a lot of power over you and your music. And if they are able to have sex with you mean that you’re willing to do anything they want you to do. Sex in the industry is more about power and control
@oculusdexterx62494 жыл бұрын
@Estela Lopez lol uhhh Taylor swift was recently was in twitter complaining about the fact that scooter Braun owns the rights to her music. Which is how it is with most artists who sign on to record labels. Meaning they can do whatever they want with your music and get paid for it. If they decide to use your song for a commercial they will get paid for it not you. All you get is a small percentage of your record sales. Billie eilish is good she started off independent build a following through KZbin and various forms of streaming services she had a huge supportive fan base already before she signed with a record label. So she’s able to be herself dress however she wants to dress, sing however she wants to sing, write her own songs, use her own producer, and record at her home. She already proved whatever she’s doing sells. So yeah she’s going to be happy.

I love Let It Shine, it's one of the BEST DCOMS to come out of the 2010s (along with Lemonade Mouth), but I didn't mind the fact that it didn't get a sequel. However, u know what I was and still am disappointed that didn't come out of it? A concert tour. Seriously, the soundtrack was SO GOOD, they could've easily performed the songs on tour as an extension of the movie's success. I mean the High School Musical cast got to do that, the Camp Rock cast got to do that, and the Cheetah Girls got to become a real-life group, so y couldn't the cast of Let It Shine do a concert tour? That would've been COOL. Lemonade Mouth never got to do that either, and neither did they get a sequel. It's disappointing cause both of these movies are objectively better and more mature than HSM and Camp Rock, but neither movie's success was capitalized on.
@Ourhearts1234 жыл бұрын
@@musiclover_kb4913 omg I say the same thing! especially about lemonade mouth and its maturity. honestly, I believe its because Disney decided to cater their movies/shows more towards the younger audience which is so crazy to me because in the past disney channel was a bit more mature and then they started making things for younger kids and then they went back to the maturity with Let It Shine and Lemonade Mouth but seemed to not want to continue on. I remember I read somewhere Lemonaed Mouth 2 didn't happen because the writers couldn't come up with a plot, but I feel like there's more to it.

HAS there ever been a DARK SKIN and I mean DARK SKINNED Disney star with the fame of Zendaya, Selena, Miley Cyrus, Raven Symone!!! Like it’s weird. Light skinned girls get so many roles but I wanna see some one of my colour actually be popular for once.

As a white girl, I have to let you know how much I adored you when I was little. Whenever we would do these "get to know me" assignments in school, I would write you down as my favorite singer or actress.

Notice how Disney channel has one big movie with African American main characters so they can say they don’t discriminate

I heard to them she’s not actually considered a princess which made me hate them even more

Yeah it’s a business move for example the lion king original is white mostly but they made the live action all black huh?? Just like with Black Panther made the cast all black for marvel but..why couldn’t they have done it earlier?? Only time they had a black director n crew was for that movie but not that strange... Make matters worse Halle Bailey is Little Mermaid they just want our money even recently John Boyega called out Disney for using his skin color just to make money for the force awakens ahhh Hollywood racism at its institutionalized finest

And if you notice, Tiana is only herself for about 10 to 15 minutes of the entire movie! The rest of the times she's a frog. That irked my NERVEEESSS!

@@trealapre We can’t trust Disney anymore they have crossed too many lines and to make matters worse they own Black Panther rights so we can’t keep those good superheroes
