Hugo Weaving freaking kills it as Agent Smith. Very few actors couls have brought so much life, nuance, and seductive cold menace to the role of a computer program having an existential crisis. You feel sympathy for his plight and point of view. I get chills every time.

The statement about Neos skin looking good this time is a meta reference to how in the CG fights between Neo and Smith in Reloaded, Neo didn't look quite right. He looked like he had a rubbery texture to his skin as the computer graphics of the day weren't quite upto photo realistic rendering of humans.

One of the theories is that Smith actually overloaded the rendering ability of the matrix with his copies coupled with fighting neo who draws so much from the matrix as it is. So that's why as the fight goes on and more and more smith's show up the cgi looks progressively worse and worse. Just a theory I believe like you said it was just super expensive

Here's something for thought - Neo was still connected to the source in the 3rd movie. One could assume that the analyst encouraging him to mess around with the matrix is still feeding off of Neo and Trinity regardless if they're still physically connected. Everything is a recreation from the original trilogy as hinted through the whole modal thing. What is not mentioned in the new movies is his connection, but it was part of what made Neo unique. Therefore, he's still powering the matrix whether he realizes it or not. He's just free to roam about busting robots outside in the rubble. This connection is implicit - the new matrix did not collapse when he escaped. Don't know much about electronics, but know enough that if some important component is missing, like the battery, the thing is not going to work.

Smith will always exist as the One exist. Smith is the balance produced by the equation. Smith is not always free from Neo until Neo is erased. Since there was no reset done, the code will always have Smith as long as the path of the one is still a part of the code. Remember the path of the one's purpose is to prevent catastrophic failure. This new matrix is not a new system, just a modded version of the old one, so the base functions still exist, and the core operating system is still the same.

At first I used to think that the "operators" aboard the hovercrafts answered the phone with "operator?" As in, "can I help you?", in case any blue pill dialled that number by accident, then they'd just look up a number, whatever and then go back to watching the code. But I just thought, what if EVERY operator that anyone could call was actually an operator on board a hovercraft in the real world?

And base on how Smith hate human so much, he must be an agent for long time. Smith just tired of his job. No 1 to No 5 Neo may all have different story. May be No 3 neo was a nerd you never know.

My theory is that the Analyst knew Neo would of figured it out alot sooner than did so he gave Agent Smith another Rsi He did the same thing to Neo and Trinity gave them both different Rsi's Even with the analyst doing that , Neo's subconscious made the Modal of a mix of Agent Smith and Morpheus He admitted he kept all of them close to feed the machines through his stress and uncertainty

Something that is not discussed is an interesting correlation between some characters and some advanced computer science theory. In formal computer science, an Oracle is a machine with special computational power, specifically if can answer a yes/no question about a special program called the Halting Problem. The halting problem is a program that cannot be solved by a conventional machine. Only and Oracle can identify a halting problem! The halting problem, requires a more powerful computer to solve it. Neo is like a halting problem within the Matrix, which is why he is able to perform paradoxical operations, and only the oracle could identify him. It gets much deeper, because the halting problem uses a paradox and infinite loops to function, and the way the oracle in the movie uses a paradox with the cookies and confusing neo is very similar to how the formal algorithms actually work! A program computing infinite loops would appear faster than the entire machine! The computer science theory and terms pre-date all the movies! Going back to the meta themes of this film, its full of analogues that carry the same name as the original, but are not quite the same. Something is different so much so that you question whether the character really is the same as the original or just a facsimile made to replicate the original, much like how the movies self referencing makes you question thr nature of the movie itself. Agents serve two purpose, one, create the illusion inside the Matrix, like the Sentinels outside of it, and of course, create the conditions for the enhanced anomaly to emerge, Neo is not the "anomaly", he is part of the anomaly, like the 1% of humanity that rejected the Matrix, the only difference is that the Oracle enhance his abilities when she give him the candy.

In the resurrections he starts off as human. he smokes because he took over the oracle so learnt that habit from her. In taking over Neo in revolutions he learnt that there is a third way to the binary choice that the matrix offers. All the machines wanted was a reset to the matrix, but Neo asked for a new matrix and peace meaning that he makes his own choice outside of the binary system of the matrix.

Could be that Neo is Neo, but the mind. As we all know the mind makes you, you. The body is just the host of you. The movie doesn't explain why he made the game, but it does say he had a mental breakdown. The breakdown is what he actually went through and because of the code rewrite his mind could not comprehend what happened so he broke... The Analyst could not have known that he would make the game to help him "heal hisself" but used it to his advantage, to control Neo. The end result is the making of the nuclear bomb... He did not understand as the Architect did, that their is now way to control how "this bomb (simulation) will explode. Hence even ending the control of the Architect, the emergence of the Analyst and his destruction too. Who, or whatever comes next, will experience the same. The code or atom of the one, can not work without the smashing up of Trinity. I'm feeling good right now but I hope ya'll understand... 😁🤷🏾‍♂️💯

For me a few things stood out in this movie. 1) the regular people watching their screens and out of nowhere throwing themselves for the bus (jumping out of windows) to stop ‘Neo and Trinity’. Could be a way of representing current society. And 2) Neo not fighting the herd of ‘agents’ (people not knowing better) but just stopping the attacks with a defense ‘shield’. It was a bit disappointing to see, but thinking about it it made me realize that it could represent a ‘one cannot fight for peace’ statement. He refuses to to lower himself to the level of the enemy, that would make him just as bad.

Lana was told "make this film or we'll do it without you". She responded by making a film that oozed her disgust, probably hoping that she wouldn't be forced to make another. I REALLY hope we get a Matrix 5 that goes deep into exploring what it means to be an individual and to have conscious thought and personality. If Neo, Trinity and Smith are all "copies," then that would be a perfect set-up for all three characters to grapple with the question of "Who am I? Am I just my memories and experiences? Am I just my flesh or my code? Or am I more than all that?" It may also be that the "Anomaly Trio" as I like to call them my be PARTIALLY "the original," but with a lot of changes/additions, both to make them more suitable for The Analyst (Smith turning into a nihilistic virus again probably wouldn't help the Analyst's plans) and because...well they all died in Revolutions, and as the Analyst said "Rebuilding you was CRAAAAZY expensive," indicating that he LITERALLY had to take what little of them was left and try and piece it all back together Frankenstein-style. Note that he also made the metaphor of "renovating a house as opposed to building one from scratch," implying that he needed SOME of the remains of all three to work with in order for his "recreation" to work. So my theory is that they're all hybrids; part OG and part "new." Even between the first film and Reloaded, both Neo and Smith changed to to "dying" and "resurrecting," meaning the Neo and Smith we see in Reloaded are not entirely the same Neo and Smith we see in the first film; part of them has changed fundamentally, because part part of them died and was replaced. Same likely happened to Trinity when Neon restarts her heart in the simulation in Reloaded.

This Smith's code was badly corrupted by exposure to Neo and the Oracle. This corruption drives him to aid Neo and Trinity to end the Analyst, even though his primary code is to torment Neo.

Well while I obviously hugely regret that Hugo didn't play Smith I think this new actor did this quite well. What I always loved in Smith and why he was for me very unique villain is fact that he did hate main character but not in our human way but more as effect of logic equation. He was able to normally interact and speak with Neo just to switch second later in killing mode. This new actor portrayed this nicely in my opinion. But if new Smith is also Analist creation why new Smith go after him. Looks like Smith now is more interested to get his hands on Analist then Neo. Even their main fight started after Smith told Neo to live Analist to him but Neo refused. Then it looks like Smith wanted to kill Neo but not as enemy but as obstacle to his real target.

Well as far as i know Hugo really wanted to film the new matrix and gave the director different dates. Director agreed at first but later refused to wait. Speculations are that it was because of Hugos interview or his view on our world, ehm.. but i think he was really missing there, the new agent didnt feel right for me and i felt like it was missed "opporunity"

Which makes sense because the same ball of light appears between their hands, in both the Matrix and the Real World. Seemingly the same light that came out of Neo's eyes and mouth in Revolutions, and I'm 100% certain he doesn't have light bulbs up there. But even if he did, there's no explanation for an orb of light appearing between their hands in the real world
