Almost Famous is a great movie. Billy Crudup is one of my favorites, very underrated actor.
@patrickmorgan40066 ай бұрын
Thank God that Brad Pitt dropped out. I like Pitt just fine, but Crudup was perfect in Almost Famous, as he has been in several things, such as Without Limits and season 1 of The Morning Show (before the writers cut his character's balls off in season 2). In fact, he has been really good in every role that I've seen him play. As you said, a very underrated actor.

A magical film with acceptional intelligent, charm, wit and heart. A joful experience! You can't help but fall in love with all the characters. There are no flaws in this movie. Crowe's talent and versatility are extraordinary. If you havent' seen it already, you're going to love it!

They just don't make movies like this anymore. I've seen it 100 times and it's just so amazing. The way it makes you think it's about the fun and glitz of traveling with the band and then you realize that all along it was about something else and it just punches you in the gut. To me, this was the plane scene with Penny and William. What a gem.

If Pitt played the role, every time he was onscreen you would be thinking "There's Brad Pitt." Whenever you see Crudup on the screen in this movie, you think "There's Russell Hammond." And it's the same for Crudup in every role he plays. You see the character, not the actor.
@jaykay63875 ай бұрын
Crowe made the right call replacing him with Crudup. Crudup has some "extra gears" that Pitt just does not have. Pitt is a good actor, but he would not have been as believable as Crudup was. He gave that character a real vulnerability that I don't think Pitt could have pulled off.

The rumors have been that Brad Pitt "dropped out" of AF because he either "fell out of love with the Hammond character" or that it was financial. But I remember the rumor around the biz at the time was that Pitt and Crowe amicably split ways because not only could Pitt not learn to play the guitar even a little, but he never even looked comfortable holding it. Again, just a rumor at the time.

I clicked thinking you'd have something to tell me about something happening to the movie. apparently it ought to be "what really happened in Almost Famous?" just like your other video "what really happened to red dawn?" some people just want clicks and don't care about quality or clarity. if more people shared correct information, the internet would be a better place.
