I believe Darin was the most versatile entertainer of the 20th century. What he accomplished in his brief 37 years is nothing short of Legendary. Singer, musician, performer, actor, impressionist, songwriter, producer, music arranger, TV Show Host, entrepreneur, outdoorsman, activist. Legend has it that when he passed away he was in the middle of writing a movie script. The man truly did it all, and he did it all so well. One of a kind, Bobby.

A very talented performer. I grew up up in Las Vegas back in the 50s-60s. Vega was a much, much smaller town back then. My father was a fireman and my mom had a beauty shop. My parents knew or had met Bobby and many other performers. Many played the lounge’s which back then were open and free. Nowadays your charged for everything. I was only a kid so I didn’t know much with regards to celebrities until I grew older. I remember meeting Red Skeleton as he purchased my donkey from my parents. He was a nice man and even took some time to talk with me.

Mr. Houston- Your assumption is close regarding his death. The 1970’s were the early days of implanting artificial heart valves. Techniques varied widely. Mr. Darin was having an Aortic valve replaced. This is where the truth becomes murky. Supposedly, the Aortic valve was implanted upside down. He made it off the Heart/Lung machine and into ICU. There he began to fail. He was rushed back into the OR, where they could not control the bleeding. He expired in the operating room.
