I ran into him at A&M several times, but once in the spring before he left for the draft. It sticks with me because it was in a stair case alone. I never used the elevator and never saw anyone in the staircase. He was in there heading down from the advisors office (probably wrapping up whatever admin stuff was left at A&M) and he clearly just wanted to be left alone. He was in the staircase to avoid people. We made eye contact and I could tell he was dreading me talking to him, so I just nodded and passed by. Dude looked worn out already and he was only 21 years old. The celebrity status he had at A&M was unheard of and unhealthy for his situation. Every other time I saw him was at a bar or restaurant, but mostly bar. Most times he was still under 21 and his entire posse would swarm around him so he could take shots without anyone being able to get pictures. A picture of him drinking at that time would’ve been viral and on ESPN within minutes.

I sound like a lameo (and yeah I am) but the appeal of getting so blasted you don’t know what’s up or down doesn’t really make a lot of sense. I get other kinds of drugs that involves self exploration or relaxation but those usually aren’t addictive drugs and can easily be switched off. It’s not about being a scrambler, it’s about basically who you think of when you remember Playing football as a kid. Visually there are better picks, accolade wise there are better picks, stat wise there are better picks, and I think as an all around pick Baker (has the accolades, the visual style, and the superior stats) is easily a better pick than Manziel. Lamar Jackson is easily the best pick though. He had the style and speed of Vick and could run like Braxton but better and could throw bombs down the field. As someone who went to A&M (and attended a season's worth of Johnny home football games as a student), I have a different take on the Cleveland thing. Johnny liked being the superstar, and that's a lot easier to do in college. I think he saw Cleveland as a place where he'd be the alpha right from the start, and then he'd ride in on his white (powdered) horse and save the franchise and the city. You don't get drafted by, say, the Tom Brady era Patriots or early Cam Newton Panthers and expect to sit at the big boy's table right away. At Cleveland, he legit thought he could save the franchise through talent alone as soon as he got there. But as you said, the modern NFL doesn't work like that. I hope he continues the good fight against his addiction and mental health issues.

Always had a lot of sympathy for Manziel as someone who also struggles from bipolar disorder. Glad he found his footing
@edwardfello63132 жыл бұрын
As someone who personally knows an addict who was described with BPD and a relative who was diagnosed with BPD when they were 16, Johnny Football is simply an addict. He has an addicting personality. Saying he has BPD is the copout he was looking for. He needs the right help and support system...not an excuse for his constant need for drugs and alcohol.
@carpe_poon57612 жыл бұрын
I'm type 2 bipolar and in recovery myself, clean since July 2020. People stereotype it and throw the term around so much that it's not taken seriously when you tell someone you're diagnosed BP. But as far as addiction goes, bipolar goes hand in hand. You're constantly chasing a high from sex, adrenaline, fun experiences, substances, you can't sleep bc your brain won't calm down. Even with food I noticed I binge on certain food for a week straight. You just gorge yourself on everything in life. So drugs and alcohol are a slippery slope. If you know someone that's bipolar keep am eye on it

@@blakedawg8242 Yes and it's so frustrating bc of the stigma attached to it and misinterpretation. I avoid the convo and explanation all together it's just not worth it. Most people don't have a clue, they literally think it means going from happy to angry🤦♂️ There's so much more to it
