Being from Dallas (Denton area) and in the car scene for over 40 years, Shorty is a very well known talent in the area. His level of skill and talent is easily in the top 1% of all the painters and body men I have ever known and these guy are very rare. It is also very common for high skilled painters to assist other shops in certain projects based on their reputation. I can assure you, he did not "Bail" on Iron Resurrection, he is a class act and that relationship is solid.

I only know Shorty from the show but he was my favorite character, he would be the last guy I would want to leave. Shorty brought so much more to the show than his outstanding paint skills.

That madr my day as I recover from 3 major surgeries. It has been hard but watching guys made my day. I understand that family is important to you and I respect that. I have been a custom painter for over thirty years, it is exhausting work, I have been in and out of love for my profession all my life. People don’t seem to realize the cost of materials and time involved with a quality job. Shorty is a master, he will be missed.

While I’m sorry to see Shorty and Kato leave the show, I’m happy for both of them. I can’t blame Shorty for wanting to be there for his new grand baby and also further his solo career. The same for Kato. These are very talented guys and they show me a lot of class for putting family over tv fame. My best wishes to both. Shorty is an amazing painter,body man ,fabricator and all around good guy. Cato's work was just as good as anybody else I have ever seen in my 50 years of adult life . They both are missed . It would be neat to see Joe's crew go help Shorty in a project as a way to thank him for all of the great paint jobs he did for Martin Bros.

I agree that shorty is amazingly talented with paint and body work, as well as being a really good solid dude. The one thing i would disagree with, is that he is not as skilled as a fabricator. That was joe and mike doing all the fabrication. Even on shortys new show, i havent seen much fabrication from him, though i havent seen more than a handful of episodes. Not to take anything away from the quality of shortys work, its just that fabricating is really is thing.

As I understand it, Shorty had a brutal commute to aid Martin Brothers and was able to get his own show based out of his hometown shop. I like his show and it warms my heart to know that he is doing what he loves and doing it without the shorts comings of being "on the road" so to speak. Happy for him and his family.

Hated to see Short Dog leave but its completely understandable because he has his own business in Dallas plus his family is there. So thats great for him. He is missed on the show but it's still one of my favorite shows of all time. The creativity of Joe and the rest of the crew carry on and you can tell that Shorty left a very important work ethic at Martin Brothers Customs. I’ll watch the Martin brothers no matter who the cast is. It takes a certain type of person to gel there. Coincidentally that type of person makes a great business man. Those folks will always have a desire to go make their own. We’ll miss them and their talent. But ultimately it’s their decision when they go out and do their own thing. Best of luck to them :)

Shorty was my favorite character, his sense of humor and his talent not just as a painter, he could do a lot of things although his painting skills were second to none. I believe the story about wanting to be closer to home, his family, and his own business but I had the feeling that he and Mike didn't get along and Mike seems to be the only one still there. There was one scene I was surprised didn't get edited, Mike had accidentally or negligently cracked the fiberglass fender of an already painted Corvette. Shorty was obviously upset and stated it was no small job to be fixed, Mike, in one of those private little interviews said Now I got Shorty running around like a Chihuahua acting like a Pitbull. Due to Shorty's Mexican heritage, I found that very offensive and I wouldn't be surprised if Shorty did too, but they were always exchanging jabs at each other. I think Mike had at least a small part in Shorty leaving.

Painters by nature tend to become Prima donnas over time . I’ve Customized and restored a couple of Bikes and Cars and I got so sick of their B.S. that I learned to paint myself. But last year I was fortunate enough to find out the brother of a friend that does it on the side and No Problem. He is great and has a full time job doing something else. He is highly skilled and a great Dude .
