I disappeared for literally like 5 years but now I’ve started watching zombies videos again and it’s so true. The zombies community isn’t comparable to any other community. You are and always have been my favorite zombies KZbinr since I was like 12 and I’m 20 now lol

I have a bit to add in regards to NGT Zombies. I played with them during Zombies Chronicles, and during that time, it had just been Spiderbite and Hypermole leading the channel, with Axel (went by a different gamertag) joining in for Easter Eggs and challenges. There was another guy who just stopped playing with them at some point before Chronicles, but I can't remember the name. Axel had his own twitch channel and was mostly doing EE speedruns and then would eventually move on to other games, but he was never really a part of NGTZ. Hypermole left presumably because he was just done with Zombies. Spider would later return to play BO4 on his own, but then quit shortly after that. Never got a chance to ask what happened, I kinda stopped communicating with them after Chronicles when Hypermole left, and would occasionally get a pop-up of Spider playing zombies on steam, up until his return and disappearance again. I haven't seen him active on steam for almost 2 years now. Might just be because of the timezone difference, or he just stopped gaming on pc or in general.

Just thinking bout the start of zombies always makes me remember how me & my brother discovered it. Hes 7years older then me & made me beat the campaign first before i could play multiplayer (i was in elementary school at the time) & he just played MP i finally beat the campaign & was super happy then got so scared & screamed for him to come in the room we were both so shook & I gave him the controller & watched him get to round 15. Pretty sure i had a nightmare after that but such good times…. If ya cared thats my zombies origin story 😂😂 23 now & still load up some nach zombies every once in a blue moon 🙏🏽

The smith plays seeing the ppsh in the box of gorod krovi, the relaxing end carrying people, the olympia raygun video, it is something i always remember. It mKes sad that even of treyarch tried, it isnt possible for them to make zombies as good as it was. It would have to be an exact copy and paste with next gen graphics

If JZ was still lead of zombies post-Buried, Richtofen's ending would of been canon and we'd likely get maps that focused on The Flesh and the forgotten Illuminati. Some maps would have been altered ofc, or outright changed entirely. Maybe ZC2 with Victis replacing celebs on specific maps as fractures like Ultimis on WaW maps. Maybe more original Victis maps. I'd like to see a zombies map at the Griffith Observatory and Hollywood Sign in the original universe post-Richtofen ending that focuses on the Illuminati

I think there’s one group of Zombie KZbinr that’s missing from this and believe me or not it’s PLAYtheGAME run by Benn Down. Basically they run theories about the lore of the Aether Story but since we haven’t heard anything from them it’s completely gone but Benn Down on the other hand he makes Zombies album inspired from CoD Zombies. If you listen his song “Alcatraz” you know it fits perfectly for Mob of the Dead

There's some spin-offs including Hypixel Zombies on Minecraft, and some people who play that have never even heard of CoD Zombies. Kind of surprised to say the least, but just comes to show the impact this genre could have outside it's community

I wish I could've been a part of the zombies community when it was peak. I was too young to really understand anything about uploading to KZbin, but I absolutely loved the introduction into zombies with WaW, and I've bought every dlc since WaW just for the zombies. I still game and I'm planning on making a few videos on some zombies content, but I'm worried it won't do as well as I don't have a group to make zombies content with.

People always say reaction content is cheap. But the original content quality instantly gets 10x better when such a fantastic personality like lex is giving his thoughts to it. Unlike with other reaction content I watch I only know the content from Lex's reactions instead of searching for a reaction to something. That alone says a lot about Lex. Hope he stays and is happy in the zombies community as long as possible, it would be a devastating loss for the community.

I think personally the reason for the dying community is as follows: 1) all the originality of zombies went away. Most ideas of custom zombies have already been done (probably by Tim Hansen) Custom zombies is kind of a dead end. 2) Very large zombie creators loved by the community disappeared. (some came back) These youtubers leaving such as TheSmithPlays who said he was going to leave, but then came back not uploading zombies and so people forgot about these channels and so there was barely any supply of zombies from the big creators. So they left. Just my opinion, feel free to break my arguement

I mean answering this before watching the video, the zombies KZbin community was full of really really young guys (late teens early 20’s) when zombies was at its peak in popularity on KZbin, and unfortunately because of the content of the game, it was really difficult to stand out when compared to many of the larger zombies channels. Even among bigger KZbinrs. It’s sorta like how Minecraft had a huge surplus of channels, but zombies does have the issue in diversity in its content within the base game many other games don’t after a while. In zombies, the base goal of every game is always the exact same, whereas Minecraft, GTA, COD Multiplayer, and so on there’s a lot more variety in strategies you can take, things you can do, and so on. That becomes a problem in the long term when you only have so many maps, so many challenges, ranking lists, and so on, particularly for solo KZbinrs. So even before custom zombies came out on BO3 plenty of semi popular channels did end up going away in some form or switched to other content. This wouldn’t have been as big of an issue if the game also stayed relevant, and sadly for zombies since BO3 the game hasn’t resonated with fans in the same way that it used to. Even the biggest zombie fans and KZbinrs will admit that it just isn’t what it used to be. So with all of those factors in mind: a declining game series, a lack of the potential for more unique content for solo KZbinrs, a mostly young series of KZbinrs who were moving on from the series of zombie games already right after the highest peaks in the series because of the surplus, coupled with growing up and other things killed the zombies KZbin community. That’s the sad fact of it, at least in my opinion. It was never any one thing, it was several things that stacked on each other that eventually killed it.

I will say, the zombies community while great, is still far from perfect. I say our biggest problem is how unaccepting we are of change and different opinions and ideas. I mean few communities in any games have scenarios where if you dont like or do like a map, you're just completely wrong. Why are players not allowed to like Origins? Why are players not allowed to like ww2 zombies? I feel that if we try to look at these different opinions by trying to understand why and where they're coming from, that we will create much healthier and more productive conversations.
