Also kinda finished the "Drift wing" on the Mazda-Rati Benz Project...

You really need to use an MLS (multi layer steel) headgasket! You may have to skim a finer tolerance for the head but its worth it! Head gaskets are a huge weak point of M104 and M111 engines especially when theyre boosted. My M111 blew a head gasket with the stock supercharger with a smaller pulley so im getting the head ported, head resurfaced and all my hydraulic lifters rebuilt myself. I recommend checking out Pat's Garage's video on rebuilding mercedes hydraulic lifters because they usually have old used oil in them which stays there indefinitely.

Athena cooper ring head gasket and 12.9 Allen head bolts. If you have a problem again it's a tuning issue

Sometimes it feels almost surreal watching your channel mate. I just got back from the store. The trees are black, the sky is gray and the land is white here. The sun is already low at noon and it sets completly at like 15:50. I just spent 30 minutes shoveling snow from the sidewalk and digging out my black 203 out. And here you are working on the same car, under the summer sun and palm trees wearing freaking shorts :D Damn I should move closer to the equator...

Besides all the other comments about check warpage on the head and block, new head gasket and stronger head bolts wich i think you really gotta do, you should retorque the head bolts after the first heat cycle and then drive it a bit and check it again. Good luck man and keep it up.

You need a much thicker headgasket or shorter rods. And MLS and Copper gaskets want good surfaces to mate to. So decking block and skimming head is higly needed.

Let’s get better exhaust flow And what I did in my bmw to avoid over heating issues was I removed the thermostat

Look at the tune, and get a wideband if you don't already have one.

Get an OM613 or OM606 instead of M104

I still think it's to do with the cooling, remember it was a flaw on m104 and om606 engines . The cooler thermostat 79 deg(I left the pn in one of the videos , just dm if you need it again) . Maybe renew the water pump (its a plastic impeller that can be replaced separately if the bearing and shaft seal is still good , you could experiment putting a slightly smaller Pulley. Also running maybe the m104 dual pusher fans for added cooling , to help it stay at the 85 degrees mark and max 92. Stock timing is retarded by 5 degs starting from 95 deg Celsius. Also upon replacing the stock head gasket , it's very important that you run the engine with coolant from first start with the rad cap off until operating temp for min 15mins not actuating the throttle at all then allowing it to cool after with cap off, then resume normal use. You can use the red coolant (liquimoli KFS12+ ) but you'd need a complete flush. Oem coolant colour is blue but you can use the red coolant from mercedes , liqui moli is cheaper. Just Google mb red coolant and find one with that grade if you get it cheaper. New idea, read on the m256 . To me it seems like an m104 with a 2017 refresh, could give you some ideas. My idea would be fitting in a air to water intercooler of a newer merc to yours. Maybe later on a ZF8hp? I recon an m104 turbo with a ZF 8HP would be a weapon. Putting a 7g or 9g from mb is way to complicated an expensive ,but who knows what the future holds. My project C350 CDI is coming along ok slowly. Ask Lance if you want to see the hairdryer hybrid turbo that someone local built for me😂, currently having it built by Lance. Hopefully once I get it this week with the injectors and some random connectors it'll be running strong again with no stumble st high rpm (otherwise I'll have to do a compression test, fingers crossed it's not because of a weak cylinder😩). So trust me I know how eager you must be aswell to get your car back in action full force.

Get a better flowing manifold for sure. I love a good NA build, but this car is fully set up for a turbo engine, so keep it that way.

From the previous head gaskets jobs, did you at any point measure if the block is straight same as for the head. Maybe you will need to send the block and head for a resurface. Also, when you lose the headbolts, you need to do that with a specific sequence. From the video, you started from the front and went to the back, which is not the correct way. Please do this job by the book, it will save you money and time. Not everything can be fixed with a rachet and elbow grease. Some things are beyond our capabilities. The same can be said for all the welding you have made. Keep it up.Have a nice day!

the way he unbolted the head bolts could most definitely warp the head bc of the uneven load distribution. The camshafts could have also cracked (if they didnt already) because of the sequence he took them out in (remove the caps with the most load on them 1/8th at a time and move to the next cap that has pressure) Its a learning process but its risky on an engine like this

Yeah custom engine mounts. Also a custom oil pan and intake. It’s a very tight fit and needed to be modified intensively so it’snot a very easy swap but well worth it🤙🏼🤣

Get another cylinder head don't skim it because you running on a turbo. Get a 3 mm thicker head gasket
