I got food poisoning from a burger once. I couldn't even hold down water but luckly that only lasted 24 hours. Im glad it didn't last any longer as I read months later that if you can't hold down fluids you can easily die from dehydration. I would have had no idea that was happening.

Not sure about dogs but I've actually read several articles about cats getting salmonella poisoning and going to the vet as a result. They can get sick from its. Its also a bit wrong when people assume they cant get sick because "its their natural diet" as diseases in itself is already something natural that happens to just about every species. Nature is not perfect. I even remember a school field trip where the teachers told us that reindeers would get sick from the lichen they were grazing on due to infection (dont remember if its virus or bacteria or parasite or whatever, but it was an ongoing problem)

If you absolutely have to eat raw chicken, make sure it is as fresh as possible... make sure to really rinse it well and if you have access to lemon marinade it with lemon as the acid will help minimize bacterial growth. Not remove or kill it, but slow it down.
