Brookysssssssyyyyy. I'm studying marine science all my projects and presentations are G- barrier reef based - I fished my way round OZ from Darwin to Townsville then melbs to perth!! love the vids. you guys are legends. Really would love to big big with you lads. Love from scotland (give me a thumbs up it motivates me to peruse my career of economical green energy after working in drilling in the oil industry for 4 years in Scotland) I can relate so heavily to land based fishing like you guys do. I spent over 2 months almost every night just to get my Cobia in Darwin---around 8KG and it was PSYCHO

Brooksy great vid as always. Like most fishos prob ain't keen on sharing locations, but maybe a vid on what you look for in spots for different fish. Obviously there is a lot of fishing with no fish but some hints and tips to look for would be good for us starting out in big land based fishing. Cheers bud

Dang you clean up pretty well. Used to seeing the wasted, disheveled persona, sort of like a serial killer on holiday. Should have morphed the vid into a catch and cook of the unsuspecting female.

Hey Brooksy, could you make a similar video where you're showing us your smaller lures for when you're fishing from the surf for reef fish or just smaller fish... I think that you should do videos where you go for surf fishing mostly - I know it's not as exciting or intense as GT's but for a lot of people smaller fish are attainable goals - big fish are really hard to come by, lol
@JonnyBrooksFishing6 жыл бұрын
yeah I can do that for sure... but I disagree about the big fish being hard to come by... kinda feels like ur admitting defeat before u have started haha! if ur willing to go that bit further and put in the time there is all the big fish in the world waiting for ya! go get them mate!

I think I have mentioned this before Brooksy but I will say it again you have to learn to wind with your left hand and fight the fish with your strongest arm which looks to me to be your right NO CHANGING HANDS at 4.11 is a perfect example of where I am coming from

nice video, but two things: a 18000 stella(or new Saltiga) with a 20000 spool is a 20000 cause the spool is the only difference. The other thing what is more important: you can use extreme heavy drag and even pump against 20-30kg(depending on the person) with every rod no matter how it works cause you don't have to use the rod, jusz a rod to line angle around 180 degree, of course you have to cast far enough, without getting tired but for fighting it's not nessesary, I tried it with a

Hello, I have an really importante questions for you, because I watched on the video you have the three rods is Zenaq Tobizo; Which one will you recommend me for coast and boat? Because I really want a next level for tunas and I am thinking to buy new heavy equipment for that. Tobizo TC80-200G with Daiwa Saltiga 14000 XH? 8 length. Tobizo TC83-150G with Daiwa Saltiga 14000 XH? 8’3 length. Do you know exactly the weight of the both rods? Thank you 👏🏼

I've noticed on the reef flats it's better to fight them light and just let them run, I just caught a 20kg one and playing it light it would just swim around the bommie instead of straight into it and then a 45kg gt was also caught on my rod and reel sadly not my fish, the GTs where caught on my twin power 8000 on a terez 15lb to 30lb and it was caught just playing it light only and these fish where caught in a Westin swim 120 but then there is the other times where doesn't matter if you use locked dragged or loose there still gonna bust you off but I reckon around Islands tight drag is the way to go.
@JonnyBrooksFishing6 жыл бұрын
very risky way to go haha. I've tried going light before and yeah something u get lucky but a lot of time u just lose 100m of line hahaha. lock up and don't let it get to the bombie

Hey Brooksy, rod question after a bit of a Morningtide and co viewing blitz . You used to go with much longer rods off the bricks, Zanak Defi Muthos 10 footer etc., but now about 8 foot. Is that because you've moved more towards targeting GTs rather than tuna etc, and are interested more in power rather than casting distance?
@JonnyBrooksFishing6 жыл бұрын
both cast pretty similar actually... but yeah coming into tuna time so I'm gonna be using the longer rod a fair bit more I think.

What kind of action does the 150 and 200 Tobizo have? I got a Ripple that I thought would be able to work poppers but it just doesn't. Way too soft at the tip. Can hardly work a 45g Chuggy. Do the Tobizos have a good solid stiff tip?

When packing down do you dose your splits and hooks with inox/lanox. Keeps mine from rusting and doesn’t put fish off biting from my experience and keeps my hooks fresh and sharp no rust
@JonnyBrooksFishing6 жыл бұрын
good point mate.defintely the smart thing to do. I usually soak all my lures and hooks in a bucket of water with a bit of detergent or something then hang them to dry. inox probably the better option though. nice one
