Yeesh. I just got started with an electronic kit and I'm pretty happy with it. But your description of acoustic drums really makes me want to play that way. The way you describe the cymbals reacting to a strike really bring it home. Sounds like a blast. I'm pretty sure my neighbors are happier with what I've got, though.

haha, well yeah. If you live in a house and have set times you play, you can probably get away with an acoustic kit, but if you're in an apartment, you should probably stick with E-drums.

I just started to think about what type of drums I want in the future. My parents won’t let me play E or acoustic drums at their place, but because of age and what I want to do after high school, I’ll have to move in ~1.5 years. I’ve always wanted to record drums for my songs rather than draw them in midi, and 2 months ago I picked up drumming. But I’ve been split when it comes to what kind of kit I wanted, but I’m leaning against acoustic.

I agree with all what you said 👍 I started playing Les than 2 yrs ago (I'm 37) and my first kit was a cheap acoustic. Living and playing in a 25 floor was louder for the neighbors for sure and really I never tried to play hard to the high volume. I wasn't enjoy the feeling to express myself druming. I sold that and invested some more to get an electronic. Searching through Google, KZbin etc. decided to go for Alesis Nitro Mesh. Not that I have tried others electronic kits, but for the sounds, feeling of the mesh, price etc. I think is the best. Now I can play, practice, record videos doing song covers for youtube on my channel for very easy and cheap way using my phone and connecting with an IRig. With the acoustic I think need more tools and equipment to record audio/video. But, still sometimes I rent a rehearsal room that has the acoustic I go just to practice and have fun with myself. The feeling is different of course, for both. Thank you Justin for your videos and tips everytime. Is a great channel for me like a beginner 🙂

@@demonicsweaters I use a Redmi Note 7 for better video camera quality, but how I checked, it works with LG or other androids. I'm using the IRig 1, bought like $3 online.

I personally wouldn’t use an electronic set for a live performance, but they’re great for drum covers

depends on what I'm doing. Electronics are great for gigs where you can't be super loud.

Honestly they are both great tools for drumming and neither is better than the other, rather both are great for their own reasons.

Hey justin! I finally laid out some plans to get some music recorded and uploaded with a couple of my friends but have to wait until I have my electronic drums and was wondering if your distrokid link would still be up around November/December, because I really want to use that to upload music to support your channel! Also, great video, lots of great points and is a great guide I'll be directing people to later

I have an acoustic drum I just got 4 months ago but really wanted one 2 years prior. What I'm disappointed with the set I have is that it doesn't have a crash cymbal. When I'm pretending drumming while listening to a song, it looks like Im good at drumming but on a real drum Im not that good. It's really loud of course and Im planning to get a drum silencer pads. I do play Rock Band and Clone Hero and if I did get an e-drum which I was gonna get but my dad rejected, I think it could at least help with my drumming. However I do know I how to read drum sheet music.

Of course acoustic in all my 50 years of playing; you can’t replicate the feel on an electric set.However, e drums are getting up there and sound great on some genres of music eg funk/rock/pop etc. For jazz, acoustic all the way. I own both acoustic and electric drums

I was just like you, always played acoustic drums and was booing electronic sets, then one day i bought a roland td 27kv and now i'm in love with what electronics can do. really love playing 80's music with it. Also never played much rap or pop music (coming from a rock, jazz and funk background) and having electronics really gave me cool creative ideas and styles of playing cause the sounds really help put you in a different mindset of playing. having acoustic drums and having electronics gives me best of both worlds.

any acoustic drummer could also benefit with having just a electronic sample pad, you don't need to go all out and buy a full quality edrum set. sorry for the long rants, love the channel have a great day

Nice vid! I'm thinking of switching from my nitro to a basic arcoustic. My biggest fear is the space. I think the sound, I took my neighbor to Bax to show how these dampening sets work, and they said it's okay if I use these, so that's no problem for me. The space tho... When fully set up, about how big is your hybrid nitro kit? So that I have a bit of a guideline.
@demonicsweaters
@demonicsweaters 4 жыл бұрын
My hybrid is tiny, takes up just about the same space as the Nitro. So a Club-Jam Flyer or Mini may be a good choice. The Flyer is VERY SMALL and is awesome. There's also Ludwig Breakbeats which is pretty small too.

@@demonicsweaters Thanks! In thinking of putting together a set myself with all the loose components starting from one of those mini sets, and then trigger with the nitro it but still keep the sound of the kit itself, so I can switch. Thanks again!

@@PixelFastFood Well speaking from experience that would be very hard to do with a Nitro module. They just don't have enough fine tuning trigger settings to use acoustic/electric triggers without completely converting the drum the way I did. Two hugely important settings for doing this are retrigger and scantime, which the Nitro module lacks. You could do it on an old (or new) Roland module though. Even my TD5 has those settings, and a whole section in the manual about using acoustic drums with it.
@PixelFastFood
@PixelFastFood 4 жыл бұрын
Ah okay. Will probs look for an older Roland module then. Thanks!
