Currently Western Cape government is the better Government in South Africa. Just wish they'd sort out these kinks

The Cape Town Transport Planning guy is making a huge mistake talking about a "finite pool" of passengers. It's been shown everywhere that great public transportation increases the number of passengers. When it's practical, fast, and affordable, people tend to travel more than expected. Here in France, most new lines, when done well, far exceed their expected ridership. And on the other hand, Honolulu's recently opened HART has lower than expected ridership because opening hours are not practical, and the most useful part of the route is not yet built. Cape Town should have modern metros and tramways instead of relying so much on the road.

That’s an excellent point-good public transport doesn’t just meet demand, it actually makes travel easier and gets more people on board. The well-designed systems in France are a perfect example. They're a game-changer and keep attracting way more riders than expected.
