As someone who just turned 30 and has been married to my husband for 5 years (together for 9), I so value relationship talks from folks who have been married longer/are older and can share their wisdom. Thank you for reminding everyone that relationships can take work but still be beautiful and last ♡

I just started, SERIOUSLY, canning until four years ago! Age is 51 yo, 52 in September! Old dogs CAN learn new tricks! My stepmom is from Grosse Point Park! Michigan, for sure, but not UP! They had land in Lansing as well! ❤️

I so agree! I love when my husband cooks and cans with me or works in the garden with me. We built a greenhouse together last year. I so agree with you, words of affirmation- thank you for dinner, it was good. The house looks nice. Your flower gardens are beautiful. Thank you for weeding the tomatoes. That’s what I need. A hug is nice too but not too much touch.

My favorite place IS MICHIGAN... anywhere IN Michigan... (not currently living there but...) If it is in God's will I would be thrilled to be able to live back in my home state again. My Dad's job/ work took us literally all over Michigan so I just love it all. Recently went to the Migardener grand opening in St. Clare and found it very hard to go back home. Maybe some day... thank you for the memories. Blessings on your day Kiddos!🥰🌻🐛🌼

Have thought about adding rabbits…just for the added manure (fertilizer). I grew up on a farm, so gardens and meat were part of my life. But I went lacto-ovo vegetarian in 1995 and have stuck with it. The first tomatoes in BLT sandwiches is great…although it’s veggie bacon in my case. I have chickens also and they’re with me til they die of old age. 🙂 Gardening and food preservation has always been a constant. Growing up on a farm was the best!

Just an idea that I do when I make the blt is to cut the bacon in half, and weave four half slices in four different piles and bake in the oven. Then put the tomatoes between two of the weaved bacon. Keeps the bacon from crumbling.

Love your videos. I have two questions. One, since you were not born on the farm how can you raise animals one year, ten years and then have them butchered for your meals. I was born and raised on the farm and still could not eat our hand raised cows as they became my pets? Two, do you have a house keeper to clean the house and do laundry since you both work full time and then do all the things on your acreage?

I am really inspired by you to start my own food preservation. Currently I'm living in Denmark and food preservation here isn't a thing. Canning lids and jars impossible to find. And buying from Amazon for a fortune isn't a go. I've been wondering, if I can use jars with twist-on lids from store-bought produce like jams and pickles to preserve my own jams and pickles through the winter. Or it is not a good idea?

Organic food has become less expensive, present inflation excluded, then when it first started being available in grocery stores. However, growing food is fun and gives you such a sense of accomplishment. I grew up with gardening and canning. I am 46 and myself have always grown a garden at my own home. I didn’t focus a lot on preserving though. I gave away a lot of what I grew and could consume myself. However, over the last few years I started canning and preserving using my grandma’s equipment. I support a local farmer that sells direct to consumer for my meat. I have the land to raise meat. It’s also nicely laid out with water access over the entire 10 acres , but I won’t lie I am a little intimidated by the prospect.
