The freezer: it’s not dead! There is just buildup on the coils from being slightly open and defrosting a little and then freezing again. Empty the freezer and let completely thaw for 3-4 days and dry out. Sometimes you can remove a panel on the inside that exposes the coils. Make sure they are completely dry and then plug back in and fill with food.

There are more days than not where I am tempted to quit my job and just take care of the home, animals and garden because I feel like I don't have enough time for it all. How do you work a stressful, fulltime job and get everything done still? Can you give us a "day in the life" video so we see how you manage things?

Our freezer did that and we thought it was dead. Went out and bought a new one. However, the one we thought died actually was fine. The door had been left open a little just like yours and water froze in the drain. Once it defrosted it worked just fine. Ran for three more years until the door was left ajar again and the same thing happened. This time we just emptied it out, put the foor wherever we could to keep it frozen and let it defrost. Working fine again!

That is so nice your son has a day with you…..especially since Rachel is gone. I thought about you making sausage as I cut up 17 lbs of pork that I got for $1.99 lb…..looonnngg afternoon. Saving scraps to make my own lard…..comes in handy when frying potatoes. The meat mixture you made is good when you put it in large pasta shells and then pour some maranera sauce and sprinkle cheese on top. Crusty garlic bread makes a yummy meal. Save that freezer if it went bad and use it for dry storage….I put my garden items that need to stay dry out in my barn.

I don't have an upright freezer, I have chest freezers. I have always thought what if they pop open and I don't know it happened. So I always set something on it. I have seen people use a bungee cord to keep the upright one closed, just in case. Even if you have to deal with a repair that would last 3-4 days you could have a problem with some of the food in it, unless you had room in the other freezer. They sure don't make them like they use to. :-( I was glad you got to have some time with your son and have a great day outdoors for Father's Day.

We love what's for dinner! I really like the sheet pan fajita's Rachel. I'm going to make that for Mike this week. Interesting using the coconut milk with the rice, I'll try that. We are thinking about filming "Outdoor Cooking with Mike and Rochelle" once a month when the weather is cooler and our daughter is going to film. We like to watch Symon's Dinners Cooking Out with Chef Michael Symon and his wife Liz. When Mike was a corporate chef for a major food company we met them a few times at major foods shows and they are wonderful. We both work from home and the sheet pan options are real easy for me when Mike does not feel like cooking. Tell Rachel hi and to have a safe trip. Blessings, Rochelle
