This is my favorite Marvin Gaye album cover. My other favorite is the one with. him wearing a green skull cap. I will always LOVE MARVIN. I have to stop and listen to every album that is played, of Marvin I LOVED him. Cried for days after he was killed. Even today,9-5-2022,I have to stop and listen to this album. I wish he and Tammy Terrill had married. Too many gone too soon but this album and The Anthology will always have an influence on those who grew up in this era. This song is just as meaningful today as it was decades ago. Marvin, will never be gone and will be Missed for generations to come. I can't his songs without getting sad, however they also give me Hope. MISSING YOU FOREVER. BABY Boomer who TRULY LOVES MARVIN. SO MANY OTHERS BUT MARVIN IS ONE OF THE GREATEST!!!!

Teddy was singing, Gamble and Huff, or McFadden and Whitehead songs. Marvin was singing songs he wrote or co-wrote, they both deliver vocally. But, because, Marvin was singing songs that came from him, I have to give Marvin the edge. Marvin Gaye had four significant albums of many, ' Lets get it on' ' I want you ' Midnight Love ' What's going on' with 'Lets get it on' and 'What's going on ' being two of the greatest albums in music history. For those people who always specifying, greatest RnB singer, RnB and Soul music is the greatest form of music. So, being the greatest RnB singer, means you're the greatest singer.

Not only was this masterpiece the truth it was so good and thought provoking that the powers to be were so upset about Marvin calling them on their hypocrisy that they didn't even give this brother one award and Mr Berry Gordy fought him tooth and nail and didn't want him to record it! But 50 yrs later the words are still revelant and yet we are still suffering at the hands of our oppressor's and we are turning a blind eye to the chaos and strife that we fought so hard to get away from then!! What good is it to earn good money and buy nice things if we're getting slaughtered because of their hate of the black and brown man?? I'll leave you this fact to those who think we have made it,how is it that in Akron Ohio they shot (the police),a black man 60 times while he was handcuffed?? We ain't got nowhere Worth living for cause we're considered 2nd class citizens in the land we fought and helped build!! LOVE is needed today, and Marvin thank you for blessing us with this and many more of your soulful melodies!🙏

9-25-26 Still love Marvin. One of the great balladers.who was Truly loved Please keep his memory alive through his music. He was definitely taken too soon. I read he has some songs that weren't released, but should be coming out. Hope there is no legal problem that prevents his music to be produced. This is one of my favorite photos. The album cover with his face to the rain. That was after TAMMY TERRILL PASSED. HE WAS SO HEARTBROKEN.HE BEGAN TO SING SAD SONGS AND REVOLUTIONARY SONGS. MARVIN WILL NEVER DIE 🙏

I feel nothing but love when I hear Marvin sing this song after flow back home having a drink in the French Quarter and thus song I sat there for hours groovy on this masterpiece I agree it’s a precious Lp if only people knew how Barry Gordon try to keep Marvin from producing this new sound and thoughts on the world troubles war racism we were fighting for change it was amazing time in our history and Marvin help to put it out there like so many artists Curtis M❤❤😂❤

Us Baby boomers were lucky to have experienced this album in real time from 1971. I was 16 when this was released. If you were 6 and below in 71. You young'uns missed it Edit: GenX RELYING on your older family members doesn't give you the same experience as actually being of a certain age and buying it on release in 1971 and playing it as a teen/20s. Stop projecting your emotions on an era you missed out on

I was 11 and used play mercy mercy me to death! That along with If there’s a hell below. Yes we’re the lucky generation. I always say that we had the best of both worlds. If your parents were like mine you probably also heard a lot of jazz and blues too 😉.

@@Jcrash71 i was listening to it at 4 years old, as I was listening to Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Jerry Butler, etc from that time on. Dont tell me what I missed and what to stick to. Just bc you were listening b4 i was born doesnt mean I didnt have a profound appreciation for the music as well.
