I was messing with my 2016 ram 1500 PCM I accidentally left one of the connection not attached enough. And for some reason it was revving my motor at 1500rpm. It usually sits below 900. I went back and sat it correctly and it was fine after. It was throwing low battery voltage. And ABS light with traction control.

Yes it is. But that Warranty won’t do you much good if you can’t get the factory to back it up by getting in touch with the dealership. Or worse, having a car that doesn’t run right sitting in the dealership while having outrageous payments.

I ran the wholesale parts at that dealership. It will be a miracle if you hear back on that Star case. We had cars sitting around for months because I could not locate parts or Stelantis couldn't supply them. The parts and service get screwed because Stelantis can't deliver. I had to submit two and three requests for hellcat parts before they would release them. I could have sold five times the parts if Stelantis could have just supplied them.

Hey RacerX, Ron Silva makes a plug using a factory wiring harness for that passenger seat removal that will eliminate the AIR BAG CODES. BTW, he is running 8's with his 170..

Yes I talk to Ron all the time.. we talked about that harness. Also keep in mind that Ron was running his Demon in California with much better DA and he has quite a bit done to his car .. trust me 😉. My car is essentially a stock car. Just a few things to keep in mind

I'll never buy dodge. You will be taken care of because you bought a high end car and you do KZbin. But dodge is bad about warranties and backing their products in my experience. I actually had my home burn down because of a recall on a 2004 Durango and got no compensation or anything. What a worthless car manufacturer. I will always hate them💯 also had a work van with extended warranty that was purchased when new. The motor blew and they would not stand behind it. I'm agreeing with the idea that it's ether a bad sensor or a programming issue. I just hope it's not a defect in the oil pump cavitation of the oil. That's going to cause damage. The computer should have a recording of the oil pressure when it set the codes. And the RPM at the time. Hoping for the best for you and your car.

@@dragvan1937 I know this is 12 days old but it sounds like the violent launches pushes all the oil away from where it's needed causing the engine to start eating itself. Was a known issue with the bosses at Stelantis but they had already built a bunch of engines so they quietly put in a better pump on all future built engines (or one that keeps the oil where it needs to be properly) and just crossed their fingers.

Good luck is all I can say brother! I worked at a 5 star Chrysler dealership for a better part of a decade. When the caliber and avenger came out with that silly cvt transaxle, we had opened a star ticket on it and actually had a team come from Mercedes to come and try to figure out issues with that system. I remember several of our customers being without their vehicles for a couple months.

Timing chain guide is broken and/or VVT. Cam phaser mounted on cam is bad. That will cause Timing issues and it will go into limp mode. Oil pressure sender is bad but will not cause issues your having. Same symptoms I had on my 2012 SRT8 6.4

Stellantis tech here, that ‘head’ tech is gonna lose his ass working on that Demon. He will not be compensated for even half the time he spends wasting on this work order. He will quit and it’ll be the next guy up. The engineers, if there are any left are gonna waste his time, spin him around in circles and this will take forever to resolve. That Wagoneer rental is likely about to throw a check engine light any moment as well.

Sorry to hear that the Demon is down. Hopefully it's something simple like a bad oil or cam sensor or just tuning. When the intake manifold gasket took a dump on my Trackhawk, I got all kinds of error codes like cylinder misfire, bad throttle body and all kinds of codes related to vacuum leaks along with going into limp mode on the street. Seems like when one thing is wrong, it makes the other stuff go nuts too. The dealership had my ride for about 2 weeks, but the cool thing is that it was all covered under the 5 year powertrain warranty with 2 months to spare. I hope you get it back soon sir. Blessings!

Dodge has jumped on it. The SRT engineers have departed. Engneers that design Fiats and EV's are not going to be helpful. If you bought a Last Call anything it was a roll of the dice. If you bought a 170 your going to to be in for a lot of frustration since the resources to troubleshoot anything don't exist. The techs at the dealership have not been trained to work on these cars. They are learning as well. As Dodge folds your going to be left with no techs as they will move on. Kudos to RacerX for showing the reality of owning and driving the car as intended. For all those sitting for sale that have never been driven - your likely buying a pig in a poke. That Grand Wagoneer is pure garbage BTW. They can't fix the gremlims on those either.

I feel your pain Racer X, my brand new Hellcat blew a hole in the bottom of the block the size of a baseball. I had just taken it in for service too. You can do all you can to take care of things, but when something is wrong or goes bad it's beyond your control. Like Walter Cronkite used to say "And that's the way it is"

Oil could be sloshing back and the pick up becomes uncovered reducing oil pressure. There should be baffeling in the oil pan to reduce this , but who knows?

RACERX, I owe you an opology. I thought you modified the 170 ,but now l recall you said on a previous show you were not modifying the 170 to keep the warranty in tact. My bad. I do love your show and your enthusiasm and competitive attitude. I like your show so much ,in August 2022 l purchased a brand new Challenger RT in F8 green. Only option on my RT is the automatic trany. I have a spinal cord problem so l need the auto trany. I could have purchased a Camero or Mustang ,but went with the Mopar for the traditional muscle body and especially the round headlight retro style. I have been rer ended several times. Having a bigger car just makes me feel more visible on the road. Higher seat level makes it easier for me to enter and exit vehicle. I see some drivers with portable car hand controls prefer the larger Challenger too. I love my RT. I put less than 1000 miles per year ,so l will do well if l ever decide to resell. If you have kept the 179 stock ,the dealer should cover the oil flow problem. Hopefully they find the fix for fast ,so we can get back to seeing a true stock 170 raceing again at the track. Keepin my fingers crossed. I love my RT. It sounds great. I don’t race it. Don’t burn the tires. I’m keepin it cream puff condition. Only drive it about once every week or two. Got plenty of power for my non racing needs. Just a cool cruder with a great stock sound. I’m keepin it totally stock for future generations to enjoy and collect. Once again, l hope they find a quick simple solution. I hate to say, if it’s been there two weeks, it looks like they can’t figure it out. I see they have made a “case study” of your 170. Your 170 looks so cool on the road and at the track. I guess l should get a RACERX cap. They do look cool. Hope you get caps in a lighter color for sunny day events. We should see your fans wearing RACERX caps at the track when you race. Maybe give some out as a promotion ,to kids at the track? Your show is great. I feel you should have a larger following, but there’s a lot of competition. I saw how you modified the Mustang with nitro and you and others were impressed. I thought maybe you did the same with your 170. Having your car in the shop is like having a sick pet at a pet hospital. It really gets to you. I real hope they find and fix the oil flow issue. 2016 Challenger Hellcat. Engine replaced a little north of 1,000 miles. At dealership for 37 days. I relayed to the assistant manager at about day 30. Provide me with equivalent vehicle to drive. You can keep the car as long as you need to.

My gears are shifting ruff in my Scat Pack. It only does it when you put it in manual. Even when you put it in reverse it sounds really loud. So I took my car to the dealership and left it over night. I came back the next day and they said nothing is wrong with it when they drove it. Smh grrrrrrrr. Been at the dealer for 2 months getting repaired. My son got a Type R....I love that thing. But recall on fuel pump. In the words of the donut guys...cars are pain. Hey man you can come get my HC challenger and make them races happen you have lined up if yours is down too long! It is tuned for E85 and I have full drag pack with same tire you have on your 170. I've not gotten to make a good pass on mine since tuned because it keeps on raining every time the track is open. Hope you get yours fixed soon!

What's wrong with the Demon? Let's start with, it's a Dodge, and Stellantis owns Dodge. Stellantis wants Dodge to go away. Time to get rid ofvit.

Transmission converter lockout failure. The cam sensor threw a code, and it failed due to a low-pressure oil pump. It threw the loop out of the sink. They'll find the issue. Don't worry about it. But at the end of the day, it's likely a sensory issue.

I have a feeling it accelerates so hard that your oil pump isn’t able to pick up and pump enough oil. Loss of oil pressure and volume basically. Had that problem with a built Kawasaki years ago. Luckily an aftermarket company came up with a dry sump conversion that solved the problem.

i went thru the same hassles last year with my SRT durango and it wasn't resolved because the dealership that i leased it from didn't have a mechanic qualified to work on it so they were guessing at the problem and had to contract the job out to another dealership to repair the problem which turned out to be a valve lifter. the dreaded hemi tik.

When I first got mine, everything was pretty good before I started modifying. I went through several batteries because the computer didn’t have enough voltage even though the battery tested good. I had to go with the AGM gel battery … the battery tested at 12.6 V but under a load it would drop causing all sorts of check engine light problems. Hope it helps you. I’ve not had a problem since putting the gel battery in.👍 when I brought it to the dealer they kept telling me there was nothing wrong😂

I can't believe that a company is selling a 9 second car with a WARRANTY!!! Most will have a clause that if you race them you bought them...and I don't blame them at all for that. Seems that a LOT of the 170's don't perform as advertised and dealers are getting crushed with them coming back under warranty. Not a good situation here at all.

My little 2012 Mustang GT only ran a 9.01@156 mph last fall. Had to leave at idle as I was not sure if the track would hold my Hoosier Drag Radials. Well, that got me kicked off the track due to no roll cage. I plan on installing a cage this summer. I was running a 72mm pulley. I wonder what it will run with my 63mm pulley? We shall see.

I'm not really surprised. This car came off an assembly line. I have NEVER seen an engine/transmission off the assembly line that was close to what it should be. Also, was this engine even built strong enough to handle that much power on a race track? Probably not. It likely has the same internal parts as the lower powered versions. And everything is controlled by computers. I have never heard of a storebought race car with a warranty. COPO Camaros, Cobra Jet Mustangs, and Drag Pack Challengers never had warranties. Race cars are intended to be abused. I have been a drag racer for more than 40 years. I have always raced '60s and '70s cars. Hand built carbureted engines. Cast cranks, rods, and pistons. Perfect clearances. I have never gotten close to the nines, low twelves is the best I've ever done. I have always overbuilt engines for the power they made. I have had a few failures, most of them caused by build mistakes. For much less than that Demon 170 cost, I could have built one whopper of a race car. Simple. Carbureted. No computers. Using a GM 6-71 blower that cost a fraction of what the one on that car cost, and is much stronger. Back in the '60s, Mopar, Ford, and GM built factory drag race cars. They were very simple compared to what is being built today, they were slower, but much stronger. Todays cars are nowhere near the quality of cars built in the '60s. This car was built on a design that was intended to be disposable. Hopefully the damage isn't too bad. But there is no way that car is going to hold up over years of drag racing without an absolutely insane amount of very expensive broken parts. Most of those cars were sold to collectors that will never race them.

Sorry to hear about your demon X. The dealerships are loaded with chargers and challengers. They are marked down 7 to 10 thousand dollars. They have to do that to try and sell cars. The interest rates are so high, nobody can buy one, even being marked down that much. What a damn mess.

I didn't watch it yet. I will 2nite. If your motor is blown, then I will understand your pain. My c8 blew at 502 miles. I NEVER pushed it past 2500 rpm. I strongly believe in break in period. I bet you do too. Smart people do that. I owned 2 hellcats and a demon. I can only imagine the insane power of your car. I hope it works out and I hope to see more videos about your race car😊

Oil pump, oil pressure sending unit or cam phaser could each or all be the issue. Worst case is engine replacement. Hopefully just a faulty sending unit. Good luck!

Definitely do an oil analysis and cut the filter open. I'm assuming these cars do not have multiple displacement because of what they are meant for, but if they do, pull the supercharger and verify no metal in the actuator.

Simple quick check would be to temporarily install a mechanical oil pressure guage and check the actual pressure, if normal, try another oil pressure sensor. Hopefully, it is just a sensor or computer glitch. That being said, after watching this and all your other 170 videos, I am SO GLAD I didn't buy one of these. I was set to until the greedy dealer tried to rip me off with ridiculous markups. They look like they are impossible to race consistently, and in drag racing that is essential. I'll just stick to my lowly 1320, it runs like a Swiss watch, super easy to drive, and very consistent; three years now and zero issues. If I get to the point to where I cannot live without a 9 second car I'll just get a Tesla...

"Dodge engineering team" - is there even such a thing anymore? Dodge is essentially a dead man walking. The only vehicle they have left is the Hornet, which is just a rebadged Alfa Romeo. There is no need for a "Dodge engineering team". I think most engineers would have seen the writing on the wall when the SRT team was dismantled and left for greener pastures, or literally any other pasture. Any engineers that remained were likely cut in Stellantis's last round of layoffs. I'd wager there is only a skeleton crew manning the husk of Dodge at this point.

RacerX it seems alllllllll these Demons have a BAD 1-2 bog from mile 1 thats gotten worse. I thought it was torque management in the flash but now I'm not so sure. I'm assuming you've seen Tom Baileys do it since he got it? I still think the initial flash is to blame and junk, and probably damaging things instead of keeping them safe like it's intended. Star case lol. I remember those. They were absolutely useless when you REALLY needed assistance and they'd eventually have to send someone in person especially when it was something special I had in like a Viper. That's probably what they'll do for you if it's not fixed easily over the phone. The bad thing is SO MANY of these are having problems man. 🙏🏻 for you to get it resolved brother, I know how bad you wanted it and how much she means to you!

Hey Racer, looks like they messed up your front right side skirt when they lifted it. Dealership messed both mine up, replaced under warranty. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but it don't look rite after you went under the car and went by the skirt... Hope you get her up n running fast brother!!

@@capricetonyguys. It happens. And with the parts they have to work with. Amazing it doesn’t happen more often. Think of all the hundreds of moving parts that make them the whole package. The main thing is and always has been. How they stand behind their product. I have a lot less of a Challenger. A 2009 R/T 6-speed with the super track pack. I bought it new. It has 207000 miles and looks flawless. Original clutch and the engine has never been into. I changed the alt. And water pump. Also lowering springs and struts. Quite a few end links and front end rebuild. Thermostat 180. I also put a Diablo Predator 93 octain tune. I changed the plugs once. Car runs great and I have also ran it at z-Max before I tuned it. Stock ran 13.4 @ 106. Never went back with the tune to see what it would run.

Original clutch. 207000 miles. You are delusional if you find that to be poor quality. You must trade in your car every 3 years and do not know what a car with 200000 miles on it does. That's wild. I have been telling you, it's time to get out of that car and move on to something that will give you better content. That generation challenger is pretty much history now. The excitement is gone. Try to get the dealer to get Dodge to buy it back or sell it before it has a catastrophic failure. RUN! EDIT: I would rather see you in a Dark Horse and your journey of taking it to your local road courses. Something like that. Luckily your youtube name is RacerX and not Dodge guy or something. You have the flexibility to do anything "race" etc... so do that. This generation Dodge scene is soon to be history. Then what? Time to think outside the box
