Complaining about it having Android 14 is just silly.. the new OS ALWAYS comes out in October.. just because they released hardware early, that doesn't mean they're going to RUSH the software if it wasn't 100% ready.. if they did.. everyone would be complaining about that then saying it's buggy and wasn't ready for prime time..
@DarrinLin2 ай бұрын
i don’t think it’s silly. why should consumers care when a company releases their OS update? the expectation is that a brand new device comes with it out of the box so it’s a valid complaint, albeit a minor one since the update is coming very shortly. i think they just didn’t have enough time to finish the os update to release alongside the new pixels. surely google would have wanted to release both together since most of the features on a new phone these days are in the software. then again maybe that’s ok since they spent more of the event talking about gemini instead of the new devices 😅

People want the Pixel 9 Pro for specific reasons. I guess some of them like good AI features, or want to have a really good camera on their phone. Would they want to buy the S23 Ultra just for the Qualcomm chip and the higher benchmarks..? While they talk about performance improvements I never see phone companies advertising great bench marks as a selling point, why do KZbin presenters do it..? The Tensor G4 is clearly not clocked as high as Qualcomm chips but it does what Google needs it to do for their Pixel phones, and as long as customers don't go around A B'ing their Pixel with Samsung and other phones Pixel users will very likely be happy with what they have. Real world usage, an all too common phrase, but that's where it's at for Google's Pixel phones.

You're charging flagship prices for hardware that is two generations behind. That's what we have a problem with. They're using AI for an admin feature that I've had an app to do for 5 plus years. Granted probably not as smooth as what this one looks like but your AI features are going to cost you. @@justinmwilcoxI'm not Google so I'm not actually charging anyone for anything, and I use a Samsung phone. My comment attempts to look at the perspective of Pixel users and what they want, and whether they get what they want from the phone. Seems to me there is a beaten track with companies when it comes to phone hardware that leads to ever increasing performance specs, Google are obviously not going in that direction and it looks like they are designing hardware to suit the service they want their phones to provide. Take it or leave it, some people take it. Clearly some users are happy with what Google are offering, albeit just a 5% share in the market. I think in time Pixel hardware specs will inevitably increase as improvements in AI occur, but for where they are now Google appears to believe that their current choice of silicon is adequate, and some customers are OK with that and are just not bothered about performance graphs and specs at all. How the phone works day to day is what matters to them. Horses for courses I guess, everyone is different...

@Quoutub2 ай бұрын
7:37 Yes, I noticed this when I compared the Pixel 9 Pro XL with my Pixel 7 Pro at 15x. Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 8 Pro don't have this issue at 15x. The reason is that in contrast to Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 8 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro always uses analog binning at 10x-30x (unless you choose the 50 megapixel mode) and it tries to compensate for the lower resolution with machine learning. At 10x (and good light conditions), the Pixel 9 Pro XL only gives you 2.4 megapixel dng files that have far less detail than the 11.4 megapixel dng files of my Pixel 7 Pro. 10x-30x live photo video frames have significantly less detail, too due to analog binning. It would be nice if you could ask Google regarding these issues. If you choose the 50 megapixel mode (and combine it with Night Sight for a better noise performance), then you nearly don't get these issues with wrong letters/numbers in the 15x jpgs because the 50 megapixel mode disables binning, but you can't take live photos in the 50 megapixel mode. Live photo video frames are very important for me: They are useful for taking photos of birds and they let me better interpret which parts of a photo are real or artifacts.

Pixel 7 user here. Couldn't agree more with the problems stated in the video. I see a lot of comments like "We don't care for the benchmarks, it doesn't matter", etc. That's the trap that i fell into when i decided to buy pixel 7. I don't really game on my phone, it's mostly photos, social media, music and navigation. Modern flagship phones are overkill in terms of performance anyway, right? And oh boy i was wrong. 2 years later my phone is SLOW. Just using navigation + music in my car gets the phone to 40C and drains the battery like crazy. If i would add anything on top - phone just goes into slow-mo, i had a "hot battery" warning several times during this summer despite doing my best to avoid direct sunlight. Going into photo editing takes 2 seconds, going back (even if i haven't done anything) also takes 2 seconds. There are connectivity issues. There are heat issues. Because of how slow this chip - it has to do MORE work and generate MORE heat than your average snapdragon for the same amount of work, even if it's a light work. BTW, google tensor is essentially rebranded Exynos with added cores for AI stuff. If you know Exynos, you know it's not very good. So yeah, asking $1000 for a phone that most likely won't last even 2 years is just bonkers. What's the point of 7 years of updates, when even after 2 years the phone is already lagging so far behind in my day-to-day usage? I can remember using galaxy S7 for 4 years and it haven't had any of the issues i have with my pixel now. Until google catch up in hardware department i don't think i'm coming back.

Trust me, you're thinking too hard about it. Most carriers are offering crazy good deals on the Pixel 9 series. I've had this phone for about a week and it's crushed every task I've thrown at it. I just watched a JerryRigEverything teardown video of the Pixel 9 Pro XL and it seems the battery is very difficult to replace, which will be a problem in 2-3 years time. I think I'll wait to see what the OnePlus 13 brings to the table as it seems like its launch is only a few months away, and then decide the direction I'll go in. @@sina6993 I care about me more than google. I'll continue to say it. The amount of times I've genuinely NEEDED faster charging on my pixel 7 pro since ive owned it is exactly zero times. You're making it out to sound like it's saved someone's life at some point. Just relax. Having your phone charged in less than an hour rather than 2 hours doesn't make any difference while you're asleep. If anything it makes the battery last a shorter time in the long run anyway.

Thumbs up for pointing out what most people won't want to hear dude. Google tried to sprinkle the AI to cover up the inferior flaws that 1000$ flagship shouldn't have in 2024. And Pixel peeps saying "Benchmark isn't everything blah" bs clearly lacking knowledge behind what a good chip can do. If you think that only contribute to GAMING PERFORMANCE then you clearly need to study some basic stuff before writing those comments down. Do you know why Apple never put inferior chip in their phone(for better or worse) is clearly the reason you can't seen right of the bat but later down the road.

The Android version complaint is nonsensical. Software is made by developers. They have strict rules and cycles. They launch the phone HARDWARE BEFORE schedule - not mention by you for some reason - but the cycle for the SOFTWARE is still the same, early October! I don't understand how you missed that point! In October we all will get the new Android 15!

They didng optimise the phone for bench marks thry optimised it for batery and real world applicstion use. Allowing smooth crsip displays a crazy amount of ram, the new ai features that habe real world applications. The OS being 14 isnt an issue as they are still developing it has it own product cycle and makes sense that it doesnt need to rushed to be be relaaed with the phone. They will continue to relesse it at their normal schedule and thr pixel 9 having 7 years of updates is awesome.

I wonder how many people actually play games on their phones that these reviewers keep mentioning it. I'm sure most adults don't, and the ones that do play candy crush or monopoly. On the other hand who's giving their child a +$1,000 phone to play games? There are way better portable devices for games that cost way less than $1,000+. Personally I dont games on small screens. I have a PC for gaming and worst case I'd rather play on my Tab S9+.

I mean I think adults play video games these days but in the United States very few play them on the phone. And even if you want to play them on the phone, the games are the bottleneck not the phone. It was kind of cool that when you bought a pixel you were the first person to use device but the remainder downsides as you point out. Particularly Android 12 which came out and was a major change. But honestly I mean with 7 years of OS updates and you're still the first person to get Android 15 people are just looking for reasons to complain. To be further our reasons to complain, the price is going up two years in a row, a lot of the features will be buried behind a $20 a month to paywall. But the things they complain about seem completely trivial to me like it being on Android 14 or the benchmarks which will have no decipherable difference from 99.9% of use cases in real life. There's reasonable criticism of the battery life which will probably be 20% shorter than a comparable device running 8g2 or 8g3. But the thing to understand is this website/channel has an audience which is 90% Samsung users. Samsung and Apple users make up 93% of carry your cells in the US and Samsung has 90% of Android market share so it's profitable for them to trash all the competitors to those too.

Agreed. I came from an iPhone 12 mini. BIG difference. I've always been a fan of the Android OS over iOS, but I kept with Apple all these years because my entire family, plus extended family all use Apple products. It's been a slight headache with me being the lone Android user now, but 100% of the problem is due to video sharing and text messages in general. iOS 18 with RCS should help solve most of that problem.
@karimc83792 ай бұрын
I don't game on phone and I barely see differences between an Android version and the next one nowadays so those 2 cons are out. UFS 4.0 would indeed be nice if you plan to keep the phone for a few years but that's not a deal breaker. Charging speed though is a little bit of a bummer. Otherwise I've tried several brands but always come back to a Pixel since I got my 3a. Currently using a Pixel 7 that's still fine for me even though I could use a better screen, better fingerprint sensor and bettter battery. So yeah, I might upgrade to a 9pro.
