@@truckerallikatuk i get what you are saying. But they need to Model each ship, bug fix Player movement, or even adjust the normal fps movement to be able to move in a small ship. This has to be done only once for All generic station insides. So with the saved time, they can work on actual Features while in station / on foot. Then the majority of potential buyers might have said 10-30$ for a dlc that only allows you to walk in your ship and on Planet, where you can do nothing? Better this way and when they actually make profit off the dlc they can sustain further development like ship interiors

“I don’t want to go back to a station to change my clothes.” And that’s where interiors (at least cockpits) would come in. There would be a console of sorts where all your on-foot gear would be stored. There, you can change weapons, suits, and whatnot else before heading out. There. Gameplay. Not that hard.

I genuinely don't understand when people say "there's no gameplay w. ship interiors".... There's SO MUCH gameplay potential!
@57thorns4 жыл бұрын
@@marshalm83 Most of it however is routine tasks that we now use the console for. Same with ship interiors: Instead of calling someone, we have to walk to see them? That is soo 1800:s to be honest. Instead of an automatic (and for playability reasons instanteneous) ship loader we could move each box manually, making loading a 700 ton ship take an hour of intense gameplay. Compare those ideas to the outfitting hardpoints screen, where they decided to break the normal rules and show animations of every transaction. It get really old and really annoying very fast. Not to mention you have to click for slot, click for type, click for module _and_ click for purchase mode for _every_ slot during outfitting. The turnaround for a full load of cargo (if you ignore the mission board and just go commodities) is 20-30 seconds from touchdown to liftoff, most of that on the elevator. They need to be very careful that new gameplay is an improvement.
@hawkofthereborn434 жыл бұрын
That's the very reason why Elite sucks dick. They refuse to remove the "menue gameplay" and replace it with having to go to the place to do the thing physically instead of sitting in your cockpit. Might as well have a "Game plays itself" button while you're at it. Get rid of the menus.
@marshalm834 жыл бұрын
@@hawkofthereborn43 Totally agree. I'd be perfectly happy if I had to wait 5-10 mins while my cargo loads... Part of the immersion! I'd sort out my purchases, then pop to the shop for some new boots before heading back to my ship for a bit of tinkering while I wait for the cargo to finish loading. If anything, that's far more immersive than insta-loading 700 tons (which is completely immersion-breaking).

I’ve waited for ship interiors since the release of Elite dangerous. You can do many things in Elite dangerous right, bounty hunting, mining, trading and exploring, and i think exploring is number one in Elite dangerous. Wouldn’t it be so great to stop your ship while exploring in the middle of space, flight assist off and get out of your seat? Relax after 100 jumps and enjoy the view. Make it possible to go to the kitchen and make tea or coffee, for the older people. Inspect the whole ship. Put on your space suit and check you ship from the outside. I mean ship interiors is also a part of mining or trading, you tired of 1 hour of traveling or mining, just hop out of your seat and repair your ship, or put your character to bed and log out for a while, when you log back again your character blinks with his eyes, he just woke up. Ofcourse station interiors is super great! But ship interiors would be a better choice, now we wait six more years for ship interiors, hell yeah! But we must not forget about the graphics update and thin atmosphere worlds we get with odyssey, this part is also huge! And after those many years seating in our seats, we can finaly rise and stand up!!!

Well, ship interiors are down the road, then? That's okay. I might have some insight on why that is, and I'm pointing fingers at the Dolphin and Krait. Past those two standouts (they're packed *really* tight), there are ships that really went off the reservation in terms of in game convention, like the Chieftan and its ilk. The Type 7 has a ridiculous amount of extra space, like it's comically empty, so the inside would just be like a huge gymnasium with catwalks looking down on a few u-haul boxes. They can do it, but unless they go arbitrary and have magic compartments for putting stuff like engines and optional internals (which would hurt the passenger game), it's a rough row to hoe. Seriously, if I was going to pick an issue that really made ship interiors very difficult, it's passenger cabins. They would have a massive effect on interior layouts and it'd be like a park game just getting the NPCs to navigate each interior unless they just warped to their module upon touching the ship, plus it'd mean that players had to wait to open hangars or cargo hatches until the bay was empty, they need to rough in conveyor systems to move cargo or fighters, fighter hangers would need to represent building a new fighter when one wasn't gonna' make it home -- and I'm just scratching the surface! I might make a video just expounding on this using my fan system for mapping out interiors, but I got Dual Universe and just started building my own ships using exactly the kind of system I wish games used for making *their* ships. Dual Universe is totally awesome.

One thing I'd like to see that could help give some variance to the station interiors is how the controlling faction's state affects it. Ship Interiors are more important than we think. If you ever played Star Citizen you know that the best part about the game is walking the ladder to enter your ship, seeing all the modules, the beds, the toilet and coffee machine, walk through doors to reach the cockpit and sit on your chair to start flying. For Elite, I think that getting off the pilot seat during flight could not be necessary, since we don't have a real auto pilot (while quantum travelling in star citizen the ship travels in a straight line with no input needed from the pilot, so you're free to jump out of the seat). But they could simply make it that while landed on a planet/station you could walk inside your ship, change clothes and weapons and just...feel your ship. If that sounds useless trust me, it's not, being able to live inside your flying home is amazing

Now all we need is the ability to make compounds in which we can design every aspect, build structures, turrets, shipyards, motorpools for various surface vehicles. Of course they'd likely have to introduce new species in the game, but this ads so much potential to the game.

I know everyone wants ship interiors, and that would be awesome, but anyone here who follows Star Citizen can tell you its not as simple as just taking the existing ship model and stuffing an interior in it. Most of these ship were never designed to have an interior so space for it was never considered. Ships in SC are designed with the interior in mind and in many cases it directly effects how the exterior looks when completed. A number of other mechanics need to be built that right now don't even exist in the game like pressurization, atmospheric zones, gravity and no gravity planes. Also remember there are 38 ships that would need overhauled to except interiors. That will take some time if they choose to actually do it.

Its like a future New Mexico Simulator! lawlz! I can see this being the salt meme when release hits. I feel like the stations will be cool, but I hope they add ship interiors later on so that I can see the inside of my Beluga. I bought and primarily use that ship just so I can liberate Imperials Slaves/Slaves in style. You know like they've had a hard life being enslaved to pay off some bogus debt and deserve to some bit of luxury while being freed by the Israeli Space Agency! Plus I always imagined that the upper deck with the giant over head window was some sort of garden or atrium area just like you did with the "waterfall" and I want to see that. Maybe it is going to happen later because they want to do something like space marines where players can demobilize ships in combat and then fly over in person, breech it, and take control of the inside? That would be a bit demanding to code I'd think, but it would make great piracy gameplay. So it could be it's own season in Odyssey. Do you think we'll be allowed to swim in the little ponds inside hanger bays of the luxury class ports? That would be fun for a roughly 3 minutes and I instantly asked myself that when you panned across the interior of one. I saw that pond and was like, 'oh hey, thats right we will be able to walk around in there.... I wonder if I can swim in that little pond.' and stuff. I think the drop box place will be a new loot store probably the same model as Fortnight or something and there will be some form of area style FPS like Apex Legends integrated. I was watching some of the members of the Israeli Space Agency play Apex Legends the other day and the map they had looked very much like a future New Mexico so may that will be it? Idk, but you're 100% correct about the lounge or bar being useless outside smuggling missions etc. One thing I really want to see, actually three things, is: 1) A way to infiltrate Imperial Stations controlled by the Inquisition and the blue haired Duval to liberate slaves at the market. Like it would make setting them free at Israel Port so much easier! Right now locating Imperial shipping lanes and then ships transporting them is like super hard. It is so rare to find an NPC ship transporting them to pirate and PC ships may be more common but most people play in private. I can't blame them because griefers, but it would make it easier to like smash and grab at a station. I also hope that if they do this that they will make it so Slaves that we help make Aliyah by liberating at the Israeli Space Agency grow our system population. Thus far I have returned 19,783 Imperial and normal Slaves but Botame has the same population as it did when we took control. I suppose just abandoning/jettisoning slaves from your cargo hold into the hanger bay isn't the proper way to free them but there really isn't a mechanic for that sort of game play and being like the Elite Dangerous version of the Order of the Twin Lamps (Elder Scrolls shout out) or the Underground Rail Road is fun. 2) When stations are contested it would be cool if they turned into actual warzones. Like if a conflict is several days old and one side has a percentage of control or there is a lockdown it would be awesome to have to sneak around the station to get stuff done and not get shot or maybe we could choose a side and fight to take control. Maybe there could also be a blockade of the station by the winning side or something so if pledge (like in powerplay) then we'd have to silent run into the station to break the blockade and then once in the station be all stealthy and not get caught. I imagine then taking control would be sort of like a capture the flag style that Star Wars Battlefront had. In writing the journal of CMDR Chay'yim Ben David there were a few sections where the CMDR took the fight directly to the station or was pursued by someone in a station and had to use the airducts and engineering passages to sneak around with the help of the Kumo Crew and other less than savory types. Oh and of course stations that are under anarchy might be totally crazy! 3) Prison escapes! Again in CMDR Chay'yim Ben David's journal there was a prison break after he was captured. I had a pretty sizable bounty on my head and was killed after griefing a CG to foil the Empire's plans. This was during the Israeli Space Agency's founding and we were technically at war for independence. Since we have sort of made peace because I stepped down as leader, but I stopped playing for a few weeks (for RL reasons) and wrote it like I had been captured and imprisoned by the Inquisition since the prison was controlled by them in game. Having a way to contract my fellow CMDRs and have them storm a prison to bust me out would be so super cool. I imagine that doing a prison break would be more of an assault than taking over a regular station. Maybe the prison guards would be as tough as the special forces that get called in when you have a high enough bounty? One of our members had at one time the highest bounty in game during the 7065/3305 Israeli War for Independence and those dudes were serious. It would make for a nice little group mission quest or whatever. Like friend gets beat by the special forces when their bounty is super high and then his mates have to defeat something similar in an FPS thing to break them out of prison. Or possibly we can bust NPCs out of prisons this way. Anyway those are my ideas and takes on it. o7

Great video, my dude. I'm a lil disappointed that it's 1st person perspective only. Cyberpunk 2077 is doing that too. How ya gonna get that perfect selfie or the cliche over the shoulder shot of you looking out into the cosmos? How is Turjan gonna get cinematic shots of his character approaching his shady contact behind the outbuildings in the settlements? They should definitely reconsider this move.

Like you, I am disappointed about no space legs, being able to walk around my ship would have been great and very immersive particularly if able to get into an SRV or fighter. Without it how will we transition from ship to station/planet? Not sure Neil Armstrong just appeared on the surface. He had to get out the hatch, climb down a ladder then plant foot in the dirt. How is this going to happen in Odyssey without being able to walk around the ship? At a minimum, you would need some internal access, be able to get out of the seat and maybe enter an elevator or stairs and an airlock to get to the surface. Should be able to walk around the outside of the ship I guess.

Honestly, ship interiors would be cool, but it couldn't offer nearly as much content or freedom as leaving your ship to explore stations, bases, and planets and engage in on-foot combat. I still want to see ship interiors but I don't think people should be so upset that Frontier chose to do stations and planets first.

Still sad about no ship interiors, but some of this does look interesting. One thing I'm going to be really upset with is that APEX 'taxi' service. If it's just a magical teleportation system then I'll be super disappointed. Why not allow commanders to post up transport requests? Hire another player to take them where they want to go. They could post up where they want to go, when they want to get there, and how much they're paying, just like with imaginary passengers, but... you know, real! We could still have AI transports, but allowing players to hire transport services to farther away destinations would be SO AWESOME. Imagine all the emergent gameplay that could happen. I suppose.... it would be really tough without ship interiors, though. Ugh 😔 I have a feeling this will all follow the same design philosophy since Elite came out: Infinite Potential - Ultimate Disappointment

Personally I'd say everything they showed in the trailer is secondary to being able to walk around in our ships. I'd rather have that than a single bit of the station stuff they showed which all seems a bit pointless if not worthless in comparison.
@k3v1n734 жыл бұрын
I honestly understand why they ignore ship interiors right know. just think about the work needed to model and design all ships in the detail needed for First-person-gameplay. and they cant just copy stuff from ship to ship, they cant make Lakon, Core Dynamics and Guteyama ships look simlilar an example. and this wouldnt even add any gameplay by itself. internal and external repair, seeing npcs and players you fly around, etc, all of that has to be added additionally to the ships itselfs
@EvilMerlin4 жыл бұрын
Could they copy Star Citizen any more? The benches, stairs, plants, stores, even the damn computers look the same. Holy crap. Even the star map thingy is nearly identical to what is in Star Citizen. Just do some basic browsing... even the lounges look identical right down to the chairs and countertops.

I'll wait to see what we'll see, but hearing that there are no ship interiors greatly diminishes my interest. I was looking forward to having my own personal space within the game, but what can you do. I'm not sure if we'll ever see our ship interiors, idk if the game even has that kind of infrastructure. I just hope its not multi crew again, a function that was novel at launch but not worth the trouble. Either way sounds like it's back to making goo goo eyes at SC.
