I work for a company that provides custom switchgear solutions for utilities. The security processes for accessing Nuke plants is crazy. Earlier this year I spent a week at TVA Watts Bar, mechanical engineering support for dismantling an existing assembly and documenting for replacement equipment. Due to the entry and exiting policy/procedures we were only productive 5 hours each 8 hour shift at best. I salute you for your commitment to your current employment. As always enjoy your videos and greatly appreciate the time and effort required to post the content. Many folks have no idea of the effort required! -Brad, SW Ohio

My husband worked nuke outages many years ago doing inspections. We traveled together with our 2 toddlers in a Class A motorhome. It can be a challenge, but as you said - that's how you make the big bucks! It's best done when you are young, for sure. Hope the outage goes well, and you are able to rest and relax when it is over. We are approaching retirement now, after about 30 years in the power industry. It can't come too soon!

Hi Lynn I got a question, what is the latest political feel about new nuke plants? I live about a mile from the Oyster Creek plant in NJ and they just shut it down. It was among the oldest and cost prohibitive to update. There had been talks about putting a smaller peaking plant but havn't heard anymore. I worked in the natural gas industry, pipelines, gas well drilling and production and I was the manager of a LNG facility. So I have a bit of an energy background. Since I have retired I don't keep up with it, the atmosphere seems not to warm on energy. I would appreciate your take at least what you are comfortable to say. I had many visits to Oyster over the years bur since they closed I no longer have contacts
@WanderingWagners2 жыл бұрын
Current federal (and most state governments on the NE states) are against nukes, plain and simple. Federal government doesn't want them as they are not considered good in their "new green deal" even though... Nuclear plants are more green than the power sources they "like". Not getting much help from the new plants being built down South, taking forever and costing way more than they originally stated. Nukes should stay and build more but seems they just can't get everything right at the same time.
