You really should watch the anime some time. There are A LOT of episodes yes but in true Anime style 4-5 minutes of each episode is padding (recap of previous episodes) I skip a lot of that so makes it more like 800 20 minute episodes. Then there is 9% filler so if you want to skip that you only have to watch about 700 episodes. Also the episodes are 24 minutes long so it's like only watching 350 or so hour long ones haha. It's still long but not as bad as people think. Also it's really an amazing story.

In regards to the amount of episodes, it might be less intimidating to wait. WIT Studio (that made Attack on Titan, among others) have teamed up with Netflix to remake the anime from the beginning. This should mean modern, high quality animation with no filler. It could at least potentially cut the episode numbers in half. If you're new to the show and still want to get into the anime, wait for that! Or try One Pace, which is a fancut that removes all filler.

@@emme Says a lot about a show when they're doing a remake before the original show has even finished. They're in the final arc now so it shouldn't be too much longer. Still, there are a fair few people who started the original anime after watching the live action, in spite of the number of episodes. It's really easy to binge watch. There's bound to be people who watched the live action and now have the release date for the new anime series marked in their calendars.

3:14 No spoilers but....yes, you'll want to remember him. The impeccable clothes, the flawless hair and sideburns, and most of all the yellow eyes that earned him the name 'Hawkeye'. That's all I'm saying - except that we also saw his boat in the swooping shot of all the ships, that's right, he doesn't have a ship, he has a boat big enough for one person that has one small black sail. We can't see it from here, but it's shaped like a coffin and generally has two candles as well, generally lit. He's a pirate who doesn't need a crew. And it says a lot about this moment when you note that he looks interested or at least curious or intrigued by what's going on - takes a lot to get him interested. Sorry - wrote that before I saw your comment saying that you'd seen the entire season, whoops :)

You can swim Emme! Everyone has natural buoyancy. Imagine you were rowing a boat. The same circular movement would keep you afloat. Just lean forward and keep your head above water, like if you were perpetually falling forward but your hand motions keep you moving forward and above water. Separately sweep your feet back and forth like you were taking large steps or simply walking with a little extra effort. It pretty much adds up to basic swimming. Keeping your fingers cupped together like you were digging a hole in sand would also help the swimming motion. Stick to shallow water for your first practice and have someone watch you. Swimming is easy but you should have someone near to look out for you. Holding your breath while swimming adds a smidge more buoyancy. You can learn to take short in and out breaths while above water. Strictly breathe above water. A public swimming pool is a decent controlled environment. You could start there. Just wait for warmer weather. You may even find a hotel with a pool. I think the ymca may have heated pools. It just depends.

The casting for this was impeccable and although there are many changes they kept the spirit of the animé. Btw they use the Japanese form in ordering the names, so Monkey is actually his family name. Dont know if you are there yet but in episode 4 there is a relationship spoiler that doesn't show up in the animé until after episode 300

"One of those HxH Gon type". Kind of. More specifically, Gon is a deconstruction of the kind of protagonist the DBZ Goku type is, a demonstration of how fucked up and disturbing those kind of protagonists would be if you put them in a realistic world and confronted them to their limitations, while Luffy is kind of the opposite: He's the culmination of the shonen protagonist. He's basically the shoneniest of them all. If Goku was the prototype, Luffy is the final form (without value judgement on Goku, this isn't about "who is the best character" here, but more about what direction does the character takes).

Once you start One Piece, the beginning is a bit slow. So you could easily devide that into 1 episode a day. That's barely 20 minutes. Do that for 3 months and you've nearly finished the East Blue arc. At which point you won't need to be motivated anymore to continue. In fact, it'll be reverse. Once you hit the grand lines it'll get better and better and better. So you'll end up making time for more episodes because it'll escalate to a point that it'll be hard to stop watching because you nèèd to know what happens next. And poof, you're suddenly already at the timeskip and you're only 4 months in. It goes by fast. The closer you get to catching up, the more you begin to wish that there would be even more episodes to watch. So you begin to look around, to postpone catching up. You find the movies and the specials, you watch those, only days go by, you're back at the anime and you're already in Wano. 5-6 months have passed. You want to take your time with Wano. But g'dangit, it's soooooo good. You burn through episodes and suddenly you're in the finale of Wano, you've almost caught up. You watch the new movies again. You end Wano, catch up in Egghead and now you have to wait an entire week for a new episode. It's torture, absolute fkn torture. So you watch your favourite arcs again. Time goes by, now you're telling people they should watch One Piece. You convince a friend, and they get so excited that you get the bug again and you restart One Piece from episode 1. That's how it was for me. Though, 24 years ago. So I didn't have a lot to catch up on. But ever since I've spread the love and restarted the show multiple times. I'm actually about to finish the Summit War arc during my 5th complete run through One Piece (so starting from episode 1 and watching it all). But, it's not the 5th time I'm watching Summit War arc. Some arcs I occasionally watch on their own, because they're awesome Because it most definitely ìs worth it. Everyone who's ever caught up to One Piece will tell you the same thing.
