I imagine the update isn't being talked about as 1.5 is because the other big updates like that usually add a lot to the progression of the game itself, while this one, while very big isn't on the same scale as making the endgame like 1.3 or adding a whole new game mode and more bosses like 1.4

Part of what makes the big updates from 1.0 to 1.4, at least to me, has been the visual overhaul. iirc, there are many, many sprites that have been redone, so in that aspect, this update could be considered big enough, but maybe your point stands in the way of that

The fact that I purchased Terraria nearly 10 years ago for $20 on the Xbox 360, and the developers are still releasing free updates and actively listening to their community, is just amazing. When I upgraded consoles, I didn't even have to repurchase the game since I still owned it digitally on my old account, which I was game-sharing with my new one. Despite this, I bought it again anyway because I wanted to own it on my new main account. Terraria is the only game I wouldn’t buy on sale because it already feels like a steal to experience everything the base game offers at such an affordable price. Is there any better devs than the team at Re-Logic? I remember pirating it at 1.0 when it released, since i had no money at that time. Fast forward to today. 800 hours on steam and about 10 copies bought for friends. Terraria is the gift that keeps on giving. They just keep on pumping out more and more content, for FREE. If only all AAA-companies could learn, this is how you show that you care about your game and fans. I know 1.4.5 will be top notch and i can't wait to see what mods are gonna come from the creators of the community. ❤

I can think of a few dev teams that are/were better than relogic. Just on the fact that they've promised us not one, but 2 sequels to terraria. They outright cancelled the first one, (otherworld) which looked cool as hell, and they've not even mentioned Terraria 2 again since the post where they mentioned they were working on it... instead they went full franchise mode and started pumping out toys, plushies, shirts and even a board game. While yes, it is cool that a modern company has put this much content into one game, for free, for multiple years after release... this _used_ to be the standard. Diablo 2 had quite a few updates, and even an expansion and more updates beyond that (I think they stopped around 1.11d or something) and then it got a "remaster" and continues to get updates... that game came out in 1996 or 1998. Final Fantasy XI came out in 2004, and still gets new content 20 years later, with the last 2 expansions that I know about (Rhapsodies of vana'diel, and whatever the one after that was called) being free for everyone that has an account. While FFXI isn't as good of an example, as most of its content additions were paid expansions, we still got a bunch of stuff added for free, including 2 expansions. I know there are other, better, examples... but ReLogic are far from the only ones to ever do this, and they're not even the only ones still doing it. Minecraft came out before terraria, and they're still dropping expansion level updates routinely (though... they're not usually as fun... and also routinely change things that shouldn't be touched. I'm still irritated about the hunger mechanic.) Having said all this... ReLogic is still one of the better ones out there.

To me, the updates that are a new 1.x are when a MASSIVE thing happens. 1.1 was hardmode, 1.2 the Jungle, 1.3 for the Moon Lord, 1.4 for a massive polishing from the ground of everything. No matter how many new small items, or even things like Skyblock sre added, its not quite at the almost overhaul like feel that adding hardmode or the moon lord brought; Despite the memes of this update taking forever, I dont think this warrants the 1.5 label

this is officially THE best update. As someone with around 2k hours on Terraria on mobile i've always complained about the clutterfunk that is the ui. I would always accidentally buff or heal before a boss battle and i would even accidentally use my mount or hook during a boss fight. OH MY GOD NOT AGAIN! This is what I hate about Re-Logic. It's nice to keep us posted and updated, but they just keep pushing the release date to add more and more stuff. On one hand that's nice and all, but on the other, that's overhyping the update. This isn't teasing, this is downright blueballing. I'd much rather have them either release what they have and add everything later, or stop showing us teasers and spoilers already. I don't remember which update it was, but they were already teasing it for a month or two. I was planning to start a new world with two of my friends, but I told them the update is just around the corner, so let's wait till it's out so our world can be the newest possible. Few months of waiting later, my friends lost interest.

I had an idea for a secret seed here's the idea basically you spawn an island on the edge of the map where the beaches would normally be and the rest of the map is flooded and the deeper you go the faster your oxygen gets removed Also increase the drop chance for items that will give you more oxygen

Honestly I like the time they take to do giant updates with unknowable amounts of content! There's already a lot of replayability in the game which can keep you playing for months on end, if not years, while the devs cook something that shakes up the game in such fun ways. I have been following along this game since release on mobile way back in the day. It was one of my first games that I bought once I got a pc, and I have been here watching Chippy, PythonGB, and Stampy play this game since they started their first ever series. (although now I just watch Chippy and am an avid Couch Member) Terraria will be forever part of my life and every update we get, no matter how small is a testament to everyone who has ever touched this game and the love & support that the community gives to allow it to still be updated.

I think the biggest thing with me is that I would adore if the Terraria developers got in contact with some of the like calamity mod and the insanity mod people and figured out a way to take those add-ons and just put them in the base game, like obviously don't have that be for the normal difficulty of course but like essentially give us the Minecraft store for those massive mods so that way you know switch and PlayStation and Xbox players could experience Terraria in a new light, I have probably close to 1,500 hours in Terraria from all of the time of me playing it and there is still stuff in the base game that I have not seen but there's also so much more that I would love to see, obviously at the end of the day they probably can't do it but I would love to see myself playing on the switch or the switch 2 and having a difficulty setting literally called the calamity setting or being able to play on hard mode and then like click and add on that adds on the calamity mod pack or the Insanity mod pack or both at the same time so that I could play those cool mods anywhere like if they're doing something like that and that's why the The final update keeps getting pushed back further and further because they're going to give us base game mod add-ons like Minecraft does I'm not going to complain they could take another 5 years and if in 5 years they say oh yeah we've been working with the calamity mod developers with the insanity mod developers and all of the other supermassive mod developers that make the coolest mods for Terraria and with their hard work and us all together we have now found a way to add in all of this stuff for all platforms as an option in game I would be over the moon that would be the kind of update that I would wait 5 years for and be endlessly happy about having even if it's just the three big ones calamity Insanity and I know there's a third one that I can never remember how to spell but like even if we just got those three massive mods it would change the game for me and so many other people who just never would have had the ability to try it otherwise and I would adore it

It's very obvious that this is not only should be a major revision but that it should be broken up into multiple smaller updates but they hamstrung themselves by insisting for so long that not only is this 1.4.5 but that this will be the last update ever. They clearly still love the game and don't want to put it down just yet, so I'm not sure why they are so insistent that this must be the last one.

dude, the quick action radials for items are the d-pad hotkeys from the old 505 ports!!! sweet!!!!
