Def remove backsplash then u don’t have to deal with adjustments in depth with cabinets! 25 yrs ago we had the back of our house extended! Which gave me a blank slate for a kitchen! Went to the Orange store (blue store didn’t exist yet) went in with my measurements on GRID paper! Well 3 mos later after many trips to OS I got the Kraft Made Maple, Shaker style doors & kitchen was done! Two mistakes I did; cabinets didn’t go all the way up to ceiling & farm house deep sink! Had to go with the cheap laminate countertops but that was a budget issue! 25 yrs later our kitchen still looks good, original GE (didn’t go complicated) appliances still hanging in there (all white)! So I feel your frustration Alicia but I was so proud of myself! Only mistake was a corner unit depth but it was the OS’s mistake not mine🤣

I would rip it off and start new, but I would try to stay with the same design because it looks so good with that countertop.

Remove the backsplash & start over. Install it yourself, it’s not that difficult. You’ll save a ton of money. Always love your videos!

You can add a dollop of vanilla to paint. Doesn't change the color of the paint. BUT does take away the smell.

I settled for second place, and it only took a few years to have regret,but I have to live with it as retirement doesn't allow for expensive changes!

Two of the best part of my cabinets is a small upper & lower cabinet between my refrig and stove that is my husband’s coffee area and the second one (besides my corner turn tables) is a cabinet specifically for upright cookie sheets & cutting boards. I wouldn’t have thought of those. I don’t like my microwave above my stove. Y’all will do good picking your own backsplash!

My favorite thing of my kitchen renovation was cabinet math and moving things around in a spreadsheet until it was exactly the way I wanted and was the most useful layout. Including measuring pans and dishes to make the most efficient use of space. I don't know what that says about me😀 I noticed a Kitchenaid under the sink, you know there's a pull out mixer lift that goes into a cabinet. I love mine! And drawers, get drawers for the lowers, you won't regret it.

Take the backsplash down - the old paneling - and sheetrock - run electrical as needed as junction boxes hidden behind walls are not to code (they need to be accessible to meet electrical code if there is a splice in the wiring). Get rid of wiring that terminates in junction boxes and run new romex. .It's not that hard.. Looking Good!!

Sanding is not a very fan job. Got a tip for your. When your sanding do it in small selections. You can get very tired look at a big space you have to. Maybe just remove the back splashes. You can rent our buy a tile saw. It is easy when you get started. Yes! You finally go to Home Depot! That is my most favorite store. That is a nice power washer you got. Love the videos! Great video! I agree with Alecia on the measurement stuff. Just make it fit the way I want. Rip out the back splash now and save headaches and disappointment later. Then it will be how you want it. I have stained and sealed a lot of trim. I have never sanded it on the wall. You have the patience of a saint Alecia! Can't wait to see your choices!

Rip it off and do it all fresh. I might go as far as the studs for rewiring for your appliances especially in the cabinet for the microwave. All updated and new. The kitchen is the heart of a home! even if you don't cook in it lol.

The prior owner might have put the mail box more lined up with the tree to help with deterring kids from knocking it down. Seems like no matter where you live knocking down mail box's is a thrill for some teenagers. I guess well fine out. You have such beautiful place.. God has blessed you!

Hubby loves how Alecia is almost always smiling. My vote is to start over with the backsplash. My advice is to choose a backsplash with not much pattern. As a Realtor, I've seen a lot of homes overdue on a pattern, then the kitchen looks "out of place," and buyers don't like it. I know you aren't selling, but I suspicion once it's installed, you won't like it either. :)
