This is a whole new world opened up to me. I had no idea there was still a need to hand-write manuscript, having (myself as a composer) gone from chicken scratch piano drafts straight to finale. I wonder if I am interested in becoming an orchestra librarian if I should get a straight edge and start practicing again. I certainly can again, I just wonder why it isn't easier to make it on a software music publisher instead. Wouldn't that save you time? Thanks for posting this really interesting video, BTW.

I was wondering that same thing. I'm a music director, and I make a lot of enlarged or individualized parts of old music on Finale. I was wondering if the handwritten manuscript is needed for older music that is out of print so that each musician is reading the same thing (to minimize questions or doubts during rehearsal time). That was the only idea I could come up with. I found this video because I'm considering becoming a music librarian, and I had no idea handwriting was such a large component of the job still today.
