Yes, elegant and practical acquisitions. This year, I finally bought a pair of tall, leather riding boots and I'm so happy with them. I waited 3 years to find what I wanted and I managed to get them on sale. So far, cost per wear is up there but it'll come down in time. The next item I really want is a merino sweater to replace the one that got a hole in it after 5 years. I was pretty disappointed, as the colour was the perfect Autumn version of warm burgundy/mahogany, one of this season's hottest colours. I find a merino sweater is such a comfortable, elevated basic that's ideal for travel. I really need another one.

I think when you can’t stop thinking about something, it’s a must. I tend to gravitate towards what I know won’t date. Items such as trenches, cashmere roll necks, cable knits, straight leg denim and trousers don’t date and I agree with really thinking about what makes us happy and what we use most often. Really good quality basics are essential. I’m not sure what my season is however 😂.
