I started to carry a few catheters on the inside of my cushion. I use a Roho and slipping a handful of them down the outside edge of the cushion is really discrete if I can't carry a bag. Or, what's more likely happening... I forget my bag or forget to stock my bag when I leave the house. Its saved me a number of times to have a backup stash on me at all times.

Putting sanetizer(??) on your rubber gloves lowers their protection-ability. I work in a nursing-home and that is a no-no. Wash your hands after taking off your gloves always, as the gloves arent a compensation for cleaning your hands. I always wash before and after i use gloves. Make sure hands are dry before putting them on to avoid skinirritation Sorry for bad english

Also, if you worry about your gloves being dirty, just put them in a baggie 😄

Just a tip and I don’t mean to be mean but sanitiser is spelt with an i instead of an e and an s instead of that z. I wish you well on learning the English language. Also I probs have worse English than you!,!,!,!,
@lynnirvin4836
@lynnirvin4836 7 ай бұрын
@@lilyrosepunkunicorm9871 Although you are correct that the e should be an i, the actual spelling, sanitizer or sanitiser, is correct. America and Canada mostly spell it sanitizer, where the UK and Australia prefer to spell it sanitiser. Also, the word spelt is used in the UK and spelled is the American version. Not to sound snarky, but you really should be aware of the different spellings on a public, world wide forum so as not to unnecessarily call someone out. These comment sections aren't meant to be grammar lessons, unless of course the subject of the KZbin video is about grammar, so if that's your only take away on the video, maybe you're missing the point. EDIT: I realize this comment is 3 yrs old, but since it's still being read years later, I'm leaving my comment up here in hopes it may inspire others to not be as obsessed with grammar and be more receptive to the video subject.

You forgot ziploc bags! They make an emergency glove. You can use them to store candy wrappers and other trash. You can slice or rip them open to make a plastic barrier on a counter. I have food reactions. If I need to place fries in a table I can put the baggie down first. Try eating lettuce wrap burgers lol, in a baggie! I have been caught without gloves when I took Mom places. Hand in baggie then I touched her bread. Thanks for the tips. People assume they are going to be so long. What happens if your ride is stuck somewhere. I haven’t been in a quarantine setting yet. However during hurricanes and disasters people end up without meds and medical supplies. Saturday I spent 45 minutes at Walmart getting an outdoor thermometer. I came home sick TMI and even now am so set back in my recovery. Whodathunk! I need to flush my systems of a toxin and went too many hours so the toxin built up. Always plan for the worst! Hugs and keep on sharing and helping others.

Might be a TMI question and if you don't want to answer I understand but I did a round in urology and we would recommend pocket caths to especially younger active patients...they are a lot smaller and pack easier of course. I'm always extremely impressed at how fit you are. I don't typically see people where I live so healthy. I work at a doctors office too. A lot of people are very elderly or have different disabilities that cause them to need much more assistance than you. However, we have one lady in particular who is extremely overweight and uses a power chair. She's always coming in crying about her knees and how she can't function well in life because of them. Unfortunately all I think when she comes in is that if she paid better attention to her health and tried to lose weight she could really make a difference in her knee pain. Even if the pain didn't completely go away it would have to improve. Side note, working in a doctors office also makes you slightly less empathic when you see some people who abuse the medications as opposed to finding healthy ways of living with less medication.

I got a bag that converts from a purse/shoulder bag to a fanny pack very easily, black, super gender neutral-to-masc, oh, 10-12 years ago from REI. It is still in perfect shape, and REI has one of the most robust return policies in the biz. When I want a bag to be functional and last, I tend to buy from them because the guarantee is so good... and it's so good because the products are THAT good. Anyway, when I'm up, it's over my shoulder because I'm never up long, but when I'm in my chair, it's around my waist, putting everything where I can grab it without putting pressure on one shoulder or the other.

Do you mean bathrooms or in general?
@jenroses

Thing one is I make it the concern of the people who are in charge of the space. For example, the only place in my son's school that is not easily accessible is the music room, and guess where a meeting happened. I did not mind finding the principal on that one, and lo and behold, there's a lift (behind a locked door) and I made him open it for me. Sometimes you just don't go there. Like, in Dublin, there were SO many shops I just didn't go into because they weren't accessible. But if you ask, chances are there's a way in a lot of places, but it may be a "thing" to access it.

@@tanyasweatland9244 - for a woman it is a catheter that is inserted into the urethra and you then add water to the balloon to fill it up , usually 10cc and then it will not come out of the urethra and then you will attach that to a connection tubing and then to a leg bag hat i then strap on to my leg, you will not have to worry about draining.. as you will be draining on your own, as it will just come out on its own. and when the leg bag is full you empty it.. indwellings are so useful especially if you know you will not have an accessible bathroom and not able to cath, as such as long drives and flights and so forth. concerts and dirty bathrooms ect.. any questions please feel free to ask...

How do you handle when places insist you show what’s in your bag? I assume (maybe wrongly) since you are open enough to make a video it doesn’t bother you? I’ve been in places, mostly movie theatres, that will insists on seeing what’s in my bag because they are afraid I’m going to sneak things in, or stores will because they insist I could be stealing. Most of the time when I tell them it’s equipment to help me with the bathroom and other issues related to my disability they drop it. I have a had a few insist and I’ve left rather than show them. It’s humiliating to me to have to pull out all my stuff to a complete stranger just to prove I’m not doing anything I shouldn’t. It feels like a violation. Maybe I’m just too sensitive! 🤷‍♀️

Sure it would be "easier" only have to change it every now and then, but to have a foley means you also have a bag of pee and a tube attached to your leg or your wheelchair.You'd have to take it out for sex every time and its better for your bladder in the longterm to go through the normal motions of filling and emptying. Wouldn’t it be nice to have disabled loos not being Disabled and Unusable because of the stench of baby nappies etc. Urgggghhhhhh! And I love babies but double bag it ladies please. Hubby and I have been together 19 years, he deals with spinabifida uses a chair. I was able bodied but he broke me. Lifting wheelchairs into vehicles etc so now I have osteoartheritis now to deal with myself. I only understand now what I have done to him, wizzing him around supermarkets and busy places. If I am pushed fast in a supermarket I go dizzy and sick. I also used to use him as a shopping trolley, basket on the knee then pile up basket until he can’t see over and legs with little sensation in are hurting. Granddaughter does same to me with school bags, book bags and coats etc. My husband is amazing never complains just gets on with life. He has ordered your dude wipes, we didn’t know there was such a thing. Love your videos, look forward to the next ones. Dating may be a good topic, I’m sure you’ve had hilarious situations the same as us as a couple. First time I kissed my husband who was standing at the time, I didn’t realise that I couldn’t lean on him and kiss him. Obviously he fell over backwards into the oven and banged his head, he says it’s been downhill since then when I broke him!!! Dreams another good topic, I dream I am a dumpster diver, what’s that about? Can’t even see in one but I dream I’m in one and that I’m the getaway driver. Ha! Not even allowed to do it in UK. i usually stop drinking about 2 hours before my flight and pee right before my plane boards. that usually last me a few hours longer than i normally would. in an emergency you can cath into a bag in your seat under a blanket. make yourself a little tent and try to be a sneaky as possible. I have also just learned that a few airlines in the US have aisle chairs on board to take you to the bathroom of you have to go! I have a "how to fly" video coming soon!

Hey, there are a lot of catheters ready to use. Check out Vapro from Hollister. The best ones :)

Get the hydrophilic (pre-lubricated) catheters so you don't have to carry extra lub and you can save space on your bag.

I do have to say that not all people need to use catheters with a sci. I am a L1 level and have full bladder and bowel control :)

I'm also L1 incomplete. I don't have to use catheters because I can empty my bladder by pushing it out by tightening my abs like when one bears down during a bowel movement. Edit: My condition causes issues though since my bladder muscles are weak, I have accidents easily. I have accidents just from sneezing, coughing or any strenuous activity. That sucks for me but I get by when in public by using protective underwear.
