Josh thanks for the insight, have been a fairly long time lurker, first time poster. I recently threw myself under the bus and offered and successfully photographed a work colleagues wedding (after years of landscape/astrophotography). Video has been great to get a feel for additional lenses to add to my kit as I am about to embark into more event and wedding photography. Keep up the fantastic insight into all things wedding photography. BTW, completely off topic, who do you use for website hosting?

In regards to the R5 flashing an overheating warning, just change your C3 video settings to 1080P. The R5 will not overheat when shooting stills. It's warning you that if you hit the record button it will be recording in one of the video modes that can overheat the camera. Easy fix. :)

I needed this video as I will be doing a wedding in September, but I need to add more gear to my arsenal (second body, telephoto lens, new bag, straps, etc). All these investments I’ll be making will be towards my business since I’m going all in on photography and video. Just happen to land a wedding which is forcing me to finally take on this route I’m excited about.

I've been converting everyone I know to the Nanuk 935 for kit use it's just simply the best option I've found for all around use!

My only issues with it are that the handle needs to extend like 4cm higher and the wheels on dirt roads aren’t that great

@ that’s fair I have long arms so I haven’t noticed the handle thing I do find myself carrying it when on dirt but I guess there have to be size tradeoffs for it to be carry on sized

I know you mentioned having a smaller kit, but after going from the R3, I figured you'd still want the battery grips.

Nah I want a smaller, lighter set up otherwise I’d still be using the R3. I’ve got the beginning stages of arthritis in my fingers and wrists so I’m trying to extend how long I can shoot without pain haha

I'm thinking of buying some more camera batteries for my canon EOS 70D and everyone is telling me to buy a off-brand battery as they are cheaper but I'm not sure, should I get canon batteries or off branded batteries?

I have both of these in my cupboard, The 28-70 is a great lens that does great things but it’s too heavy for 10 hour wedding days. I still use it for wrestling photography etc. The 85 1.2 is also a great lens but I never use it on a wedding any more as it doesn’t match my current style of being up close and personal with my couples

When I get the time I like to shoot the local pro wrestling, for that I'll typically just bring the one body and the 28-70 so I barely bring a bag. I do like the Peter McKinnon 25L every day bag though for smaller stuff or the Peak Design 13L messanger
