What beautiful images, absolutely stunning. This video came up in my recommendations, I shoot wildlife and landscapes with some still life. I’ve only ever shot horses once, the college I did my night classes at does a lot of animal husbandry etc and how a horse jumping arena and for one of our classes we got to shoot the action. Such beautiful, majestic animals, absolutely gorgeous! I firmly believe there isn’t any genre of photography that can’t learn something off other genres and I’m sure there are elements I can learn off you to help with my larger mammal wildlife. I live in the U.K. though and we don’t have that many large wild mammals, unlike the USA. A fantastic video, so glad you showed some of your images and you don’t get as good as you are without a passion for your subject.

Hello shelley! I love your channel so much, and hope you keep posting great videos like this one! I myself love horse photography, I'm not as good as you :) but I want to get better and have decided to buy a new lens for my Canon 80d! I'm interested in the 70-200 range and wanted to know if you would recommend one without IS since with horses you should have a faster shutter speed. I can't afford the ultimate 2.8 ii, but maybe a used 2.8 non is? What would you recommend? Thanks so much!
@shelleypaulsonphotography7 жыл бұрын
Hi James! Thank you for the kind words! :) I would definitely recommend the IS. My images are definitely sharper with it just because I am not always super steady, and that costs me at the long end of the focal length. Look into buying a used lens, they are much more affordable! Look at keh.com or fredmiranda.com. There is also a HUGE Canon buy and sell group on Facebook.

Hi, my Name is Noa and I am starting equestrian photography. I would like to know when you bought the Canon 70-200 2.8 L II IS Lens if you bought the Hood separate or with the lens. Thanks!!

Hi Noa! I bought the 70-200 about 7 years ago. The hood comes with it!

Beautiful pictures. I never knew of such a thing as equestrian photography. Of course, I could never do it. I keep away from animals that are either bigger than me or smarter than me. A horse, I suspect, qualifies on both accounts.

Hi! Do you still use the 135 ef with adapter with your R5?
@shelleypaulsonphotography2 жыл бұрын
I do! I haven't used it a lot because the RF 70-200 is an amazing piece of glass - it stays on my camera most of the time!

Hi Shelley, I just got the new 70-200 lens that you show on this video for my Canon 60D. It’s slowly dying (I’ve had it for 12 years and just started learning how to use it). I hear canon is getting rid of their DSLR cameras with the mirrorless ones? Which one of these new ones would you recommend and will my lens still fit? 😭
@shelleypaulsonphotography2 жыл бұрын
It's true that Canon is slowly phasing out their DSLR and EF gear in favor of Mirrorless. But you can get any of the R series mirrorless cameras and use the EF to RF adapter to continue to use your EF 70-200!

I know, I probably should have anticipated that! 😂

Do you still use your ef 135 with your R5 and the adapter?

Almost never! I tried it the other day with my foal and just felt like I had to be too far away. I love my 70-200 for its flexibility. I have been using my 50mm 1.2 adapted quite a lot with non-equine photography, though.

Awesome video very informational!!! What's your thoughts on a Canon Rebel T5??? I am looking to by a camera so my mom and I can take photos when we go barrel racing or go to the fair/rodeos or just everyday use.. What type of camera would you suggest buying for that ??? You are AMAZING!!! I LOVE your photography, You make them much more meaningful!!!!💙😍💙

Hi there! I'm glad you found it helpful. I have never used the Rebel T5, but I'm sure you could find some good reviews on it here on KZbin. Probably more important is the lens you buy to go with it!
