Hey Michelle!!! I am a doula and also, I am due with my 7th baby in march. For whatever it is worth, I swear by the My Brest Friend pillow. Due to the fact that it has a strap, it can always be perfectly positioned and secured. This is so helpful when you are sleep deprived, just be in the habit of attaching it prior to picking up the baby. Boppy pillows by default tend to cause mamas to lean forward which is bad both for her posture and the baby's latch. As for the clothing, I think you did great, I always say "comfy over cute and both is a bonus", it is a good rule of thumb for dressing little ones. I do think that it never hurts to bring multiple sizes. I could show you, 2 babies, that both are 7lbs, one could be short, stocky with a big head, and fit in preemie or nb size. The other could be really long and lean, needing to wear 0-3 (or even 3mos like one of my ballerina daughter's that was born with super long lanky legs and big feet lol) Those are my few tips .lol. I wish you and Nash a speedy, uneventful, labour and recovery.

I’m not sure about TX but I know here in MA they don’t provide socks and mittens just the little shirts that you can pull the fabric over their hands. They give pacifiers, formula, diapers ect you can call your hospital or at your next OB ask for a list of what L&D provide. ☺️ lots of luv to you and Matt

Looking through the comments, it looks like you are from Texas. I live in DFW. Hospitals here do not give socks or mittens, and many of the hospitals stopped giving pacifiers. With my first baby 9yrs ago they didn’t offer me any burp cloths, but with my second 3yrs ago, they did give me a bunch of burp cloths. So I’d say maybe take a couple just in case! Both my kids were pretty small (5lbs 14oz and 6lbs) and they were actually too small for newborn lol. So with my second, I bought some preemie stuff secondhand before I had him (washed it of course) and they were perfect.

I'm from Missouri and the hospital has quit providing as many things as they use to like right down to binky's, baby wash, lotion, etc. My last baby was born 12.9.2019 and my 1st baby was born 12.27.2004 and so much had changed as far as what they provided there for you. Call and check so that way you don't find yourself needing something and they don't have it. Love love love your diaper bag!! You are so prepared and organized!! You're going to be the BEST Mommy, Nash is so lucky!!! The hospital pillows aren't the best and they come out of place with any movement I breastfed all my kids and honestly I would bring my breast friend bc that would stay in place a lot better!!

I never owned the My Brest Friend but I did bring the Boppy to the hospital and I HIGHLY recommend bringing it. I didn’t have it the first night and it’s such a pain to have to pull the pillows from behind you and set them up to breastfeed. It’s much easier to leave the pillows where they are and pick up a different pillow to feed. I also found that the Boppy was a little more firm than the hospital pillows which provided extra support.

I love the diaper bag! I’m pregnant with my 3rd...first little boy.🥰 I will be bringing newborn and 0-3 but my first baby was 8lbs 15oz and my second was 10lbs 9oz!😲 If this little boy is like his oldest sis he could wear a little bit of both sizes...and if he is like his other sis it’ll only be 0-3 lol! I’m also a over packer so that’s probably why I’m bringing 3 or 4 outfits in both sizes.

And the day we went home man was there so much to take and i didn’t like all the stuff on top of my stuff I had to take home because the hospital gave me lots of stuff lol. Hi Michelle, such a nice video. Reg the swaddle, when I was at the hospital the nurses preferred the baby be wrapped up only in a swaddle and diapers because it was easier for them and the doctors to do the baby check ups while in the hospital and yes very easy to unwrap and do skin to skin 😍😍. The bag is beautiful and very useful. I only brought newborn, my kids weighed between 4 and 7 pounds. Can't wait to see that little cute face😍😍😍 Forgot to ask... when are you due??

But in Australia we don’t have to pay to give birth as we have Medicare. They’re technically paying for everything plus more. I’ve heard in America it costs them over $10,000 to just give birth to a child. So most of them have to pay an exonerate amount for health insurance to have children. Plus they have to pay excess and for any medication for themselves and their child on top. We’re lucky in Australia that we only have to think about what to pack rather than how to pay. Ps just in case you get offended somehow I’m not having a dig I’m explaining why they don’t have to bring much.
@MichelleBurr

Yeah I've just done 2 rounds of unsuccessful IUI rounds and that costed me around $12,000. In April I'll be getting IVF that'll cost me $14,000. Unfortunately I'm catching up aswell. I think you're currency is more than ours, so you're $30,000 would be our $50,00+. I understand how it all feels aswell. Congratulations on the bub. I hope you have an amazing time.

Hey again my best suggestion and wish I did with my son is bring my breastfriend you will NOT regret it. I brought my boppy and it seriously just didn't work the same. He had trouble latching and it was just a hassle using it. Once I got home and started using my breastfriend it helped IMMENSELY! The snap on back strap is super helpful plus the little headrests on both sides just love everything about it. And I definitely felt like I was over packing for him with socks, mitts, hats, 2 different sizes of each but I will say he had a couple of blowouts while we were there for 3 days so I was extremely grateful having all the spare sleepers I brought 😂 and I actually believe I ended up using all of them too. So overpacking for him doesn't hurt 💙💙💙 last word of advice for some reason my hospital only had dry wipes you had to wet with water available so maybe bring a pack of diaper wipes just in case. Oh and also petroleum jelly to help with his meconium first poops. Its literally like tar and sticks so bad to babies skin. I think that's all I got. Either way you'll be fine!

Unless your baby is like more than 9lbs literally, NB size will fit. Just to have an idea, my son was 8.9 oz at birth. He was super long too. And he fit in NB for about a few weeks more after coming home. I recently bought 0-3 Carter’s and compared it to my sons 0-3 Carter’s and it is bigger size. So I’m thinking the clothing has changed a bit in terms of sizes but towards the bigger size. The only thing is don’t buy too many NB because babies do grow fast and he will outgrow the NB size in no time. I should say my son is now 5. Lol. I’m having another boy in April and it looks like he will be around the same weight as my first. I’m packing two NB outfits and one 0-3 just in case. Don’t worry about constantly dressing him at the hospital, they prefer you have the baby with less clothing because they wash him and do all kinds of things to the baby before you take him home. I was a csection and had to stay for 3 days and the nurses really preferred me not dressing my son. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Pregnant here with baby #4 and my recommendation is to not bring either breastfeeding pillow and just use a regular pillow while in the hospital. Works just as well and one less thing to bring. When it comes time to leave and you are being rolled out with baby and hubby is having to carry all the luggage he will thank you for bringing less things to carry out. 😂 Whatever you are comfortable with though go for it... you do you. 😉

I wouldn’t take a breast feeding pillow because honestly the pillow they give you is just fine. It’s just extra to carry

I would. Worse case scenario you don’t need it.

I didn’t get any pillow and I was fine. Actually preferred regular pillows because you can adjust it to your needs, whereas the feeding pillow is only one way you can use it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Extra to carry, and money wasted in my opinion.

I don’t think you need to bring the breastfeeding pillow. Hospitals are pretty well supplied for babies so don’t worry about bringing too little. I didn’t use most of the stuff I brought lol. But you do what makes you feel comfortable

Yeah I’m thinking the pillows in the hospital will be just fine!! The less we have to carry, the better!

I used my breast friend for my first and I loved it. Will be bringing for baby girl when it’s time.
