You're right to close the curtains during the day to prevent the place heating up. My tip for dealing with no AC is making sure you leave a few windows open overnight to cool the place down and then shut them before 11am, don't open them again until sunset. This only applies if forming a cross-breeze isn't an option because it's humid and dense. Also finding a way to point a fan at yourself all day is worth the effort, especially when you're cooking in the kitchen. On the more desperate side: I will literally fill a bucket with ice water and stick my feet in it intermittently. If that's not enough I'll also make long luxurious trips to my nearest food store, particularly the refrigerated section 😁

I work in a factory so it's basically just a big metal tin in the summers and it gets really hot. But we do have one room that has to be temperature controlled and, ya know...sometimes you might linger in there a few minutes longer than you actually have to because it's SO nice in there😂🌬️

You can put those cooling bags in the freezer to put on your neck when it’s really hot A really good fan Staying away from carpeted areas Those cooling sheets or blankets for your bed

When I lived somewhere without AC, during the summer I would have a spray bottle with water and spray it on myself throughout the day. The evaporation of the water helps with the heat

I do the same but I add ice cubes in the bottle, it’s so nice to have a very chilled mist.

For heat, blackout curtains help a ton. For comfort inside, I personally don't wear socks, and I keep my hair off my neck. Goes a long way! Applying aloe to the skin can help too, it catches the fan breeze and feels like ice

It’s funny I actually am decluttering everything except bullet lipsticks haha. I find they stay put a lot better than tinted balms and I only need to reapply once after lunch. The balms I’m applying constantly and with each application the edge seems to blur out and grow so I end up with crazy clown lips by the evening

I too only own and use bullet lipsticks and balms! But mostly because I find lip products with doefoot applicators a bit icky and unsanitary.

Sarah look up how to make air cooler on KZbin . There are so many options from frozen bottles of water in front of fans to homemade ones from 5 gallon buckets . You and Nathan can make one of those in minutes . At least cool a room to stay comfortable . Hope this helps .

Where I live in southern California, AC is extremely necessary in the summer. It gets between 90 to 100 degrees sometimes more so I can't live without it. Once a few yrs ago in August the AC went out and I had to stay at the friend's house until it got fixed. I would recommend getting a portable AC unit so u can more into whatever room ur in.

I very briefly lived in Buenos Aires and didn’t have AC. My biggest tips were keeping the windows open w a big screen/net to prevent creepy crawlies from getting in, and getting a few small fans to point from the edges of rooms into the center to keep air moving. It’s rough though

We don’t have AC either where I’m from. I would say only open your windows in the morning and at night and try cross ventilating by opening the windows opposite another and cover the windows during the day when it’s the hottest outside like you already did. Hope this helps.

In India most houses and businesses dont have ac (i dont live in india full time but we go a lot ) . Instead we use a method where you wet your blinds (we have roll up bamboo blinds ) and then allow the air to hit the blinds and it creates a cool breeze. It really works! Dont need to have bamboo blinds you could just use a wet bed sheet in front of the window.

GIrl, I'm with you on lipsticks! I decluttered all but 3 of my lipsticks and 2 of 3 that I kept are minis! LOL I'm so much more willing to wear a tinted balm (love the Ravie Beauty ones too!) or a gloss with liner! If I really want a full color opaque color on my lips, I'll just use liner...

I love the Nyx Bare With Me concealer also! I'm actually really close to finishing mine, so sad lol. I have a couple though that I might replace it with or I will repurchase. Not sure yet. But I really do love seeing what you are using and loving. Also, I empathize with no AC where I live either, fans only do so much. lol.

Also, I'm wanting to try the Nyx Buttermelt Bronzer when I finish my current one. I'm down to the outer ring of my Milani Silky Matte Bronzer in the lightest shade. It really is so nice! I did recently get one of the Nyx Buttermelt Blushes in Back and Butter. It's a deep berry, like think the shade Natasha Denona came out with this year. and I literally only need a dab for both cheeks just about lol. I LOVE how it blends out though, it can go from looking scary to beautiful lol. That reddish berry flush is a new color to me, as I only have two Milani Baked Blushes. They're in Dolce Pink (almost hitting pan), and Luminoso. :)

I live in western WA too and before I got AC a couple years ago we had tons of box fans that we would sit in the window the moment it got dark and cooled off. The best box fans let you switch the direction so you can blow the hot air out. Also we lived in our basement for the summer when it got really toasty, although that’s not at all helpful if you’re in an apartment lol.

Wow sorry about no AC, that sucks! I’ve seen portable ACs. We have ac but it’s not as good in the bedroom so we also have a tall fan in that room. The eye look is so pretty especially with the brown you added 😮💕

I love that milk makeup primer but I’ve come to notice that when mine got dark like that it was expired🫠 The elf grip primer is a good dupe for that in the green 🤗

I would suggest: get an AC. Because realistically in these days you are not able to live in 80-100 degrees in the way people used to live. I come from place where in summer we have 80-90 and in winter we have 20-50 (central Europe). First of all, the architecture. Old buildings have mostly thick brick or stone walls to keep good isolation from the outside, rooms are deep so you can hide from direct sunlight. They were planting native trees around to keep shadows over the buildings and the ground around it. My mom's house which is over 100 years old keeps temperature of around 72 degrees on the ground floor all summer. On the upper floor it sometimes gets to 80. As long as the nights are around 70 degrees, the inside of the house stays nice and cool during the day too. I remember one summer when it was ridiculously hot all the time and the whole country experienced big problems (like train tracks getting so hot soft that trains couldn't go because they would cause damage or water preassure going down in whole city because there was not enough water) this was the only time the house got a little above my comfort temperature. Also we need to remember that back in the days people's lifestyle was built around seasons. It was just normal and obvious for everybody that during the midday people were just not doing anything. You stay inside or in the shadows, drink a lot of water, lay down and read a book. People were waking up early, working then coming back and resting. The go back to the activities during the evening. Currently the life for most of us doesn't give us this option. For these few hours even doing laundry is difficult and activities you can realistically do are very limited.
