When I was pregnant someone recommended putting complete baby outfits in individual sandwich bags so you're not rummaging around for e.g. socks, a hat, etc. (so in one bag: vest, sleepsuit, scratch mitts, hat, socks), and I found that so useful! I also second the recommendation of a peri bottle.
@valarya2 жыл бұрын
Very great tip - boosting!! I did this when my kiddo went to mothers-day-out or preschool programs, too... with his name on the sandwich bag... so the teachers had quick access to a full outfit during those potty training days-of-accidents. 😅

I work as a paediatrician, in neonates, in the NHS in Scotland, there are a few other things/different things I would recommend for baby that you don’t have or may need more of, apologies in advance for the long message! For first time mums at my hospital, you will need to stay in for 24 hours after baby is born before you are discharged so I would recommend a few more bits. Average size for babies born in the uk is 3.5kg so I would always recommend packing mostly newborn clothes and maybe one outfit that is 0-1 months as most babies will need newborn and your outfits look much bigger than that. For an outfit, I would recommend a vest with a baby grow on top and most of the time the baby will wear a hat and a muslin/blanket. For each day I would recommend 3 or 4 outfits as in the first few days there will be lots of poo, baby vomit and mucous (babies will be very mucousy as they clear there lungs in the first few days of life) which goes everywhere! Scratch mitts are also useful or babygrows with built in scratch mitts as babies will often have very long nails at birth. I would also say you do not need bibs at the hospital, muslins or burp cloths are just as good! Patients often bring baby outfits in individual bags (sandwich bags or wash bags) as it makes them easy to take out rather than having to rummage and a spare bag for all dirty bits and pieces as you don’t want these strewn around in your bigger bag next to the clean stuff! In terms of nappies I would pack 2 for each outfit (so maybe 8-10 for one day) as babies go through them quickly. I would also recommend bringing size 0 nappies not size 1 as they will probably be too big for baby and you want them to fit to prevent leaks! I would also bring nappy cream and baby oil as babies skin can often be very dry when they are born but do not need washing stuff as it is good for them to stay in their vernix for a few days before their first true bath. I would also recommend bringing a few more muslins as they can be used as swaddles for baby and when trying to wind baby and again can get messy fast. My hospital will provide: nappies, wipes/cotton wool with warm water, dummies, towels for baby and blankets, formula if you need it and all bed linen for baby’s cot. They will usually give you a knitted hat for baby straight after birth as well so you can always get these things from the hospital! Just realised how long this message is, hope this is helpful! Good luck with labour and your postpartum journey!

Flip flops more than slippers (for showering), peri bottle, something to cover your shoulders (can get cold even if warm and also for muscle soreness if you end up in one position for a long time nursing for example). I had a c-section and all of this was very useful. A very yummy snack for after the birth, mine was chocolate covered almonds. Honestly, preparing for postpartum is more important in my opinion, labor and birth are over sooner than you know, but afterwards it's weeks of care.

As a recent new mum… Take some single use breast pads to the hospital because the reusable ones don’t absorb as much as you need to when you first start nursing. Reusable are great for when your milk flow is more settled! Also, bed pads! My waters did like a very slow leak out rather than a big gush so they were super useful as my waters leaked for hours - very glam So excited that you’re nearing the end!! Good luck with your labour and delivery and enjoy every moment that you can 💘💘💘

I needed a whole, giant burp cloth in my left bra cup I leaked so bad, and even then it got my bra wet. I eventually got a wearable milk saver, the haakaa ladybug, and I wish I had that right away. You don’t leak much right away, though. It takes at least three days for your milk to come in. So the reusable pads are definitely sufficient for the hospital bag.

I would recommend taking things that you don't care about getting ruined for the little one, I learnt through experience that things can get rather messy. The cardigans and blanket are so damn cute but keeping things clean are the least of your worries when you are in pain and everyone is busy. The only other piece of advice I would give is to have no expectations because not everything will go strictly to plan and you just have to accept it. So excited for you and dan! Best of Luck ❤

Extra extra long phone charging cable!! Hospital plugs are often in very inconvenient places. My bra size changed drastically right after I gave birth and then again at like 3mon pp and like 6-7mon pp. most of the time in hospital with all the nursing it was usually boobs out or I had just like a bandeau style very stretchy bra(also a fav for postpartum night time nursing) Oh, bring pillows!! Pregnancy or normal, great to have while figuring out nursing positions!! Had several nurses comment on how handy this was.
@punkee6662 жыл бұрын
Seconding this! My kid is 5 now but I remember that the extra long charger was probably the most useful thing that I brought to the hospital. Also coconut oil/Vaseline for baby’s bum; the first poops are extremely sticky so something like that is definitely helpful

I have never been pregnant, I have never had a baby. But I have heard that some people do find it very handy to have a «O» ring to sit on after birth, since stuff can be tender and sore.
@LHMLHW2 жыл бұрын
I just had a baby last week and the most useful items were: 1. Lip balm (gas and air makes the lips very dry) 2. Hair baubles/hair band / hair brush 3. Water bottle with straw 4. Face cloth / fan / water spray to stay cool 5. Sports drinks (you might not eat for ages so this is great to keep energy up) 6. Post birth snacks (take a range of sweet and savoury) 7. Nightie 8. Eye mask 9. Nappies and wipes (although you can get these provided in hospital sometimes, same with the maternity pads) 10. Peri bottle 11. NIPPLE BALM!!! If you intend to breastfeed this is essential as the first few days can be erm ...interesting as you and baby figure out how to latch well 👌🏻 12. Maternity bra (necessary when your milk comes in around day 3-4 and your boobs are like boulders) 13. In terms of baby clothes - a couple of vests and a couple of baby grows are enough (preferably with in built mitts and socks) and possibly some muslins to catch spit up rather than bibs (multipurpose as also can be used as a blanket when feeding). 14. Emery boards to file baby's nails (our overcooked baba's nails were surprisingly long and scratchy 😅) Have a separate bag for going home stuff that you just keep with the car seat or pram - no use moving it about from ward to ward when you don't need it till the very end. Other than that enjoy the drugs! I loved the gas and air and the morphine 😉 my epidural failed a couple times and wore off but was also very helpful when it was first applied as I could almost string a sentence together having had it 😆

Watching this made me re-realize how strange my own hosptial experience was with my baby. We were under Code Red for the pandemic, so we were heavily restricted on what we could take to the hospital with us. I'm glad you're able to bring everything you need to feel comfortable and prepared!
@loasapoynter75492 жыл бұрын
As a mum to four children and someone used to make and sell pre filled maternity bags for mums and babies; I would recommend that you pack lots more nappies and clothes for baby. They do lot's of peeing, pooping and positing which is bringing up milk and mucous. Plus muslins and a blanket. You should also bring a dressing gown and warm socks (you will get hot in labour but you will want them for moving around the ward) Also a laundry bag for all dirty clothes (your clothes and undies will probably get blood and or baby fluids on). The clothes and nappies that you have packed will be really big to start with so you need to pack tiny baby or first size clothes and size zero nappies. These tend to go up to 7.5 lbs. You will need disposable breast pads too. Your milk will come in by day three which you may already be home by then but the first milk called your colostrum will come straight away so you will need pads. Hospitals in England seems to give you some stuff but not as much as American hospitals so be ready to provide what you and baby need for at least a day or two. Don't worry about bringing too much electronic stuff or lots of things for Dan because you/probably won't use them. Good luck x

Long multi plug extension cord! I've never been pregnant but I've had a few hospital stays and the plugs are usually far away and up on the wall (though I'm in the US). It made it so easy to charge everything you have with you, to plug in your fan, etc. So excited for you!

you probably don't use your car much in London, so make sure it's in good condition, maybe have it serviced - you don't want to be needing to wait for a cab at 3am! Also, get a handy parking slot close to your front door - you don't want to be walking round the corner or to the other end of the street. Good luck, with everything!
@clyde5022 жыл бұрын
Great list and very similar to ours! but definitely take way more clothes (stick mostly to newborn sizes) and way more nappies. Think around 10 nappies per day and most people stay at least one full day if not two so about 10-20. Our hospital would have given us them if we didn't have it but (and this is not to scare you) not every ward is super attentive and you really can't wait for Dan to run out or for the staff to go and get it when that baby needs changed. Best of luck Hannah!

OK, I’ll admit, I may have giggled a little , remembering one of our first nappy changes in hospital. We used 3 nappies in a single change! I’d also say, make sure you have a few outfits (vest and babygrow) in newborn, premie and 0-3 months. My sister had to send us to get her emergency premie clothes, because nothing she had was small enough (even though her baby was late and induced) and my second went straight into 0-3 months because she was a large baby. It’s a pain if you don’t have something at the hospital that fits.

As someone who lives and works in the US health system it is so interesting for me to see all the things you are bringing to the hospital. For sooo many of your items I was thinking "don't waste space, they will have that for you!" But after thinking about it for a little while, our health system is so above and beyond the state of reason and maybe in most parts of the world new moms do need to think about brining all of these necessities (ie diapers/nappies) because they are not provided by the hospital. Always appreciate new perspectives and learning opportunities. Congratulations on your baby and I hope you have a wonderful delivery!

For baby stuff….some hospitals don’t like baby wipes unless they are water wipes. I recommend taking more nappies in size 0, and some more sleep suits and undervests. Packing them in individual sandwich bags labelled is helpful. Taking some ready made formula with the pre-made teats just Incase breastfeeding can’t be established as hospitals don’t provide formula. Some dirty laundry bags too x

From someone who works on labour and delivery, you won’t be using at least half of that! Lol but I suggest flip flops for when you take a shower. Trust me, Hospital showers are not that clean. Also bring granny Panties for recovery. You’ll be wearing huge pads. And don’t forget your phone charger..I can’t even tell you how many times new moms ask me if I have one they can borrow cuz they forgot theirs. Oh, and for baby, I suggest bringing mitts cuz babies tend to scratch themselves. And honestly, those outfits look huge for a newborn. Bring a preemie size outfit and diapers.

Other things: - SNACKS. For labour and post partum! Hospital food is shite and you will not be in the mood so BYO. I did my first breastfeed dropping sausage roll crumbs onto my son's head. NO REGRETS - Massive pants, yes, but also bottom halves that hit nowhere near your bikini line *just in case* you end up having a C section. Probably fine with leggings though! But worth noting if you decide on jammies (or for anyone else) - Reusable breast pads are great but one more little finickity thing to forget at hospital so I'd pack disposable ones for the hospital and use washables at home. - Flip-flops for hospital showers and if you're a bit puffy from fluid retention for any reason - Presumably because you're in England things are back to normal re covid restrictions but when I gave birth my partner wouldn't have been able to have come in for induction/when I was in in labour but not established labour, so: nice things of his so I felt close to him when he wasn't there. Toiletries that smelled of him, a tshirt of his to wear. You get the idea. -More nappies for the babe. Plus sudocrem / barrier cream of choice. - Not to pack, but at home ready to go - stack of extra clothes for you and the babe in case you need to be in for a few extra days. - also buy paracetamol, two packets at a time, every time you go to a shop from now onwards. If you are very sore from stitches or section you will want it in, and you can't bulk buy it, so stock up. If you don't end up needing it for post partum you'll get through your stocks at some point.

I would add flip flops for you (for a shower afterwards) and a dressing gown. I know you said you get warm but I had my second in a heatwave and still got chills! It's a shock response I think as our bodies go through a lot. Also, a bed mat will be good for when you come home because the night sweats I had after my first were INTENSE. Also, baby will need a vest under sleepsuit as well as a hat even if it is warm because they need help getting warm. They can be naked if you are doing skin to skin though 🙂 And nipple cream if you are planning on breastfeeding! And your own painkillers for after (your stomach cramps if you are nursing, also general birthing recovery) the midwives will get you some but it's not always easy to get their attention. Couple of tips from a midwife and mum of three! - cotton wool instead of baby wipes (they can be a bit harsh on newborn skin) - a couple of hats (the first may get a bit gunky...!) - ditch the bibs! - a couple more vests/bodysuits and sleepsuits/babygrows - lipbalm for you - travel size toiletries for you and toothbrushes for you both If you put one of the absorbant bed sheets under your sheet then it will still protect your mattress if your waters break in bed, but means you don't have to lie directly on top of one for weeks! Then a couple in the car for the journey to and from hospital but you don't need to take the rest, the hospital will have plenty! Hope that helps! Wishing you a safe and straightforward birth :) xx
@katherinetaylor15902 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, and definitely more than three nappies, and probably best to have baby clothes that are newborn size. Newborns need to be wearing a couple of layers in hospital even whilst we're all sweating to death as they get cold very easily. Lots of people recommending scratch mitts for baby - it's actually really important for them to be able to feel around them so mitts aren't a great idea. Also lots of people recommending a bidet-type bottle for afterwards...fine as long as you're not inserting/squirting anything actually into your vagina - major infection risk doing that just after giving birth, vaginally or c-section! Sorry to add more to my already long comment! 🤣

Also check sleeping arrangements for Dan. It might not seem important but we were in for 5 days and my husband was literally sleeping on the floor the entire time. Thankfully we took a camping mat which was a life saver and I only knew to do so because my friend was in at the same time. I'd have just assumed there was a bed! I know it's different everywhere but truly all we needed for baby at our hospital was a going home outfit and anything sentimental or cutesy for specific photos if you are into that. Also I would hope the hospital provides diapers for you while you are there but if they don't....3 is not enough 😂.

I had my baby 3 weeks ago and I can not reccomend nipple cream enough especially when breast feeding the first few days your nipples hurt and your get chapped I use lansinoh you can get it from boots or tesco and it doesn't need to be wiped off when feeding 😊
@silentscreams672 жыл бұрын
Momfrida instant padsicles and a perineal cooling spray. Also my friends have recommended using an adult pull up rather than underwear for the first couple days post partum to feel more secure. And a nipple cream if you plan to breast feed. (I'm due in a week and a half! So this is based on my friends getting my post partum kit stocked based on their experience. Reviews to follow lol)

Along with the bidet everyone suggested, a folding fan to help dry everything after you've 'rinsed'. Also helps keep stitches dry! If you are considering an epidural, you might need something with back access, or i guess you could just cut the gown or strip down.. I've seen special cups that catch milk from your other nip while you're doing your feeds, so you don't waste anything (my sister had a hard time getting bub to latch, so don't feel like something is wrong if it doesn't happen straight away) I would also keep a list of medications and allergies handy - remember your usual hospital protocol as well as maternity stuff :)

I would recommend taking flip flops instead of slippers, really thick maternity pads and for the baby water wipes and at-least 10 nappies per day for the baby x
@erjusik2 жыл бұрын
10 per day??😱 Do they continue needing that many later on or is it just for the newborns?
@izzymcnab38812 жыл бұрын
For down there, it might be helpful to get numbing cream and one of those ice pack pad things (have seen them on a lot of these types of videos), as they apparently help with the swelling and pain. Also, a squirty peri water bottle for cleaning yourself, that helps to reduce stinging when peeing. A rubber ring can also be really useful to sit on after (e.g. in the car ride home etc). Good luck mama - so excited for you

I work in the neonatal unit, my advuce on what's missing is.... maybe add some baby washing and cream stuff. As you said you don't know how long you'll be there, pre and post labour, and babies could get crusty bloody stuff sticked to their hair or body. You might just want to give them a quick shampoo. Or they loose weight and dry out, so baby or natural oil to hydrate their delicate skin :)

I am so grateful for only needing to pack whatever I plan for me and baby to wear when we go home. Hospitals here provide everything. 🥰 I can't imagine needing a switch unless induced and that taking a lot of time...
@emtastic1129922 жыл бұрын
When I was pregnant I remember thinking "I'm going to pack my hospital bag this weekend..." and then the Friday before I was admitted to be induced very suddenly and all I had was my phone, my wallet, the pajamas I had been wearing that morning, and whatever my husband happened to grab on his way out the door......funny how that worked out.

I’d recommend cotton wool for the first few weeks of baby’s life, rather than wipes - they are a lot gentler on their skin. Plus Lansinoh nipple cream is a lifesaver - start putting it on before and after feeds even before you notice any signs of nipple trauma! Not sure how much research you’ve done on breastfeeding but learning as much as you can ahead of time about positions and attachment will be helpful. It’s different when they’re here of course but it’s good to have at least some idea of how it should look and how to hold baby 👶
@jwatson112 жыл бұрын
Seconding cotton wool but get the pre-formed pads, not the balls because while great for getting poo off they leave tiny little fluffy bits all over baby when making sure they're dry. So annoying!

I've a now 3 month old and I was probably unprepared for how tiny she was! She was in the 95th centile and still was wearing newborn size until 6 weeks old so make sure you've plenty of that size ♥️ we barely used anything we packed....it was like a weird fever dream in hindsight! Went in 2AM and left 10PM with a beautiful baby! I personally didn't want to stay in hospital at all but you might! I would suggest bringing a new pair of cheap slippers in a size up.....you don't want to ruin ones you love with all sorts of bodily fluids and your feet will swell after little one is born! Best of luck! The best advice I had was that it's a few hours of pain for the most beautiful reward ♥️ Oh and buy some Lansinoh nipple cream and pads. I have the reusable ones and tried boots own brand disposable and both were useless when my milk came in and I soaked through everything 😭 the Lansinoh ones were a godsend 💕
@kayleighmccloskey78072 жыл бұрын
Maternity pads - the lil let’s ones are absorbent but they don’t help with the pain as too thin. Get the boots own brand ones, the really thick ones, they are really comfortable especially for tears or episiotomies. You also need a perineal bottle, you could use a jug but honestly the perineal bottle is a game changer. Helped so much with pain and hygiene. Also bring nipple balm! Consider packing some of the pre sterilised teat ready to drink formula bottles. My baby just couldn’t latch for first few days and didn’t have formula with me and at 2am in the hospital with baby blues it can be useful (and didn’t impair my breast feeding journey at all). Love the optimism that you will be playing with the switch and card games 😂

Definitely sleep with one of those pads on your bed. My waters broke at night at 37 weeks and I was so glad to have the mattress protected because it was A LOT of water!

One thing I packed and was super useful was a little night light, I kept it on my night stand so I could change diapers and nurse my baby without turning the awful big light on. I also used it a lot to check if the baby was breathing while sleeping 🤣 as it's something you sometimes need to check because postpartum turns you into a paranoid anxious person sometimes 😅

I recommend a peri bottle. Can be bought online. Frida moms do a good one but a generic one can be bought that does the job. Frida moms in general is a good brand, cooling pads. Perineal foam for all your postpartum need. Expert midwife spritz for bits or bottoms up. Snacks. Flip flops for shower and if your feet swell as well as slippers. A light dressing gown. Nipple cream. Also pull up adult nappies, always discreet boutique. I’m about to go in for baby number 2.

Do everything WAY AHEAD of when you think you'll need it. Both my kids were SIX WEEKS early. For the first, I had a list, and my husband had to run around the house trying to grab everything I needed. For my second, I packed my bag at 30 weeks. Just in case. And was so glad I did! Also I highly recommend bringing some Depends/adult incontinence disposable panties. The amount of blood & discharge for DAYS or even weeks after birth is insane. US hospitals give a bunch of HUGE pads and weird mesh panties that are very uncomfortable. Fit/Flex Depends are way better.

Mum of a 6 month old here! Pack more than two outfits! You might not need them but you may well need them and you want them ASAP if you do need them! Two vomits in succession and you've got no clothes left Also a going home outfit for baby! Also the clothes or at least the short sleeve ones look quite big? But I'm not sure if that's just on camera vs real life. But my baby was BIG at birth but they still look too big

Exiciting times! Dan's done a good job. I'd recommend planning what to wear to hospital. I ended up giving birth in £3 primary vest and socks I'd gotten from holiday because didn't have time to change, at least it wasn't anything fancy I'd mind getting ruined xD and disposable undies you don't mind throwing away and a bag to bring all the bloody stuff you're keeping home. Packing cubes are also so helpful at separating stuff. And definitely bring all the nappies, we had a poo pouring out constantly situation when we were about to leave the hospital xD

The two things I consider essential after my experience were lansinoh nipple cream (if you want to breastfeed) and a nice smelling spritzer/spray to spray around the room during delivery. People never talk about it but delivery and postnatal really smells! Good luck, hope it goes really well for you x

@amarshall54072 жыл бұрын
Definitely bring the switch. It helped us pass the time so much! Biggest suggestion would be to make sure you are packing a few newborn size things (not sure how nappies are sized in the UK but in the US newborn is the smallest size and then a size 1 is next up) everyone told me "babies hardly wear newborn stuff" well both of my kids were in newborn sizes for 8-10 weeks as the 0-3 was overwhelmingly big on them.

I was very happy to have chapstick because the breathing through contractions is mostly through the mouth, also toothbrush for after (maybe you mentioned toiletries, sorry if you already did), a peribottle, warm socks if your feet get cold. I would recommend bringing your pregnancy/nursing pillow as the delivery nurses should be able to guide you on how to best use it, and in a few different positions. Good luck and all the best 💜

Fuzzy socks! I gave birth during a heat wave in august but fuzzy socks were the single best thing I packed. They were a life saver when I had an epidural since it made my feet so incredibly cold. And after my emergency c-section I got very cold and it was nice not having to wear slippers in bed.

Did not read the comments so maybe it has been said, something that was very useful for me post partum: a hair dryer (to keep the episiotomy clean and dry without touching it when it's sore) and a an inflatable buoy (to sit on)

A random breast pad tip - if you find the regular ones are painful and stick to sore skin, get some Lilypadz (they are like plastic cups with gel on the inside that you just wash and reuse). Might not be for everyone but I found them a lifesaver.

I like silver nipple cups. I’m two months postpartum, and I still wear them all the time. It prevents anything from rubbing the nipples. After like a week nipples are pretty sensitive, but even now it feels better wearing the nipple cups than not. Sounds like these are similar, I have not heard of these.

A close family member of mine had a baby near the end of 2020, and honestly thrifting some comfy things to labour/lounge/sleep in was the move. I went out with her before she had her baby and helped her find some stuff, and it definitely came in very handy, so buying those second hand night shirts you can nurse is was a great idea! I also find the bibs on the list a bit odd as well, I find they don't need them much until they start having some purees and stuff at 4-6 months, muslins/burp cloths usually do the job until then.

So so exciting! I would recommend at least 4 'outfits' for baby. Babies are only just learning how to keep themselves warm, so a singlet, baby onesie with arms and legs (if it has hand and foot covers even better) and a swaddle blanket. Packing a couple of beanies and socks and bigger blankets to go over the swaddle is good aswell. Most newborns fit into little clothes, dont get stressed about having outfits 'big enough' its very rare I come across a baby that doesn't fit into newborn suits.

Saw someone recommend separate baby and parent bags in case of separation (and maybe birth partners own bag with snacks and stuff). Also squeezy water bottles for vulva washing post partum when ya havin a wee if that all goes down!! And I hear ice packs are good!

Louise Pentland had a baby about 4 years ago and did a video about postpartum 'must haves' (obviously not saying anyone MUST have any of the things she mentioned, just her recommendations and things she found helpful) and the one thing that I remember from that video was this like sqwirty thing that you put water in and use when you're passing urine after birth to 'dilute' as such, I've no idea what it's called, if anyone knows, please do name it below, but alway thought that was quite a good nifty, handy little gadget to help ease the stinging X

You can predict closer to waters breaking when you start feeling early contractions. Usually they come first. Obviously not always so it is a risk. Sometimes waters exit in waves. So just because your waters have broken doesn't mean they aren't going to continue to leak. As for the bra, keep in mind that your breasts can swell even larger when your milk comes in which doesn't happen usually until a few days after birth. So even a bra that has been sized close to your due date isn't necessarily going to be the right size later on.

I packed lanolin cream, more towels for me and the baby, a microfiber bath robe, hair drier, mesh panties... apparently my hospital also requires a plate, a spoon and a glass... not sure what for though. Hospital only provides nappies for the baby, so we’re also required to bring baby detergent for the first and only full bath until the cord stump falls off. Dad is also allowed only a few hours per day due to covid so we did not pack any of his stuff. No bibs required for baby, but our list mentions a comb. Also packed a nail file for baby’s nails.

I'm in the US now but my baby was born in Germany. Other than "going home" clothes for both of us, the hospital provided everything else he and I needed. Have you checked to find out what the hospital will provide? It may be that you don't need most of the stuff you have shown in this video except, of course, the Dan things and something to keep you occupied during labor. (I had a book to read but found that concentrating on the birth process took up my available "brain space".) Over prepared is better than under prepared. I hope all goes well for you, Dan and the baby 🥰 🌻

Add like some super cheap flip flops, these have so many uses, easy to slip of when you're all sore and shuffle to the toilet, shower or breakfast, I had an emergency c-section with my second and they were a life saver! I'd say maybe some more baby outfits just incase you're in for a while or they poo or sick everywhere! Also like some ready meals for Dan incase you're in over a meal time, contractions are too close to leave you but far enough that nothing much is happening yet. Good luck, so excited for you both! It's the best!

I made sure to charge my headphones and tablet for entertainment in labour and didn’t use either! I was way too busy huffing the gas and air and was too out of it to watch or listen to anything. Would probably be good if you’re in after birth though as I spent most of my first days watching Modern Family while breastfeeding Also if you think you’re going to be there for a little while after baby is born then flip flops for showering and nipple balm! I didn’t need either of these as luckily I was in and out quite quickly when I had my baby back in February, but I was in desperate need of a shower as soon as I got home and using lots of nipple balm at the beginning of breastfeeding really helped to reduce soreness. Also bring all the snacks, I didn’t eat anything except for a couple of jelly babies when I was in labour but as soon as he was out I was ravenous!
