Looking forward to the Garmin review. I'm having a few issues with mine, but that could be the devices I'm using with it. Would like to see some detail, obviously you're using a terrapin x. Are you connecting your kestrel as well?

Hey Phillip - thank you for the video - a lot of stuff to think about - I was wondering - i want either a 6 or 6.5 cal rifle for my beginning long range journey - you are shooting a lapua type round and was wondering - i guess what is your opinion or is there a video about that you could possibly put out?

Like others, curious about the Garmin……what’s the benefit (that you’ve personally experienced) of using the 901 as a solver, with a lower spec Kestrel over the top spec Kestrel?
@mattrust3488 ай бұрын
you need a kestrel with AB elite to connect to the 901. But you can also use a cheaper device like a TempE. The benefit is being able to range multiple targets and having all the data already on your wrist.

Just curious but A) why 6.5X47 over 6.5 CM and B) why 6.5x47 over 6x47? Seems like 6.5 cm is just the easy button in 6.5 but it also seems like 6x47 is what always should’ve been instead of the 6 GT that’s too short or the 6 cm that apparently is too spicy
@velayo_03179 ай бұрын
Great questions. Doing a video about this would do it better justice but for the sake of responding here’s some quick snippets. I’ve shot all 5 cartridges you’ve mentioned, including a 6 BRA for PRS competition. I’ve won matches with 5 of the 6 (the only one I haven’t shot a match with was the 6GT). Anyways, I’ve found the 6.5x47 to be inherently more easier to load and slightly more accurate than a 6.5 CM. although you can definitely push 6.5 bullets faster in the CM and heavier bullets, I learned quickly that speed isn’t everything. I ran my 6.5x47 with 140s at 2730 and had no issues spotting any of my bullets even as close as 250 yards in 15 mph winds shooting prairie dogs. That’s where shooting a 6x47 or 6 CM comes in. I’ve played the speed game with these cartridges but saw huge benefit other than recoil reduction and maybe some better wind bucking. But barrel life is worst compared to a 6.5. It’s nice to also be able to get a better report on steel with a 140 than a 105. Hope that answers some of your questions!

Hey Phil! Wondering how full your run your game changers with fill? I have the OG with get lite as well, can’t seem to find the happy place. Either too much or too little. Any suggestions?
@velayo_03179 ай бұрын
Honestly, I haven't take any fill out of either Gamechangers. I just ran them both as they came. They are pretty broken in now, after the fact, but I know a lot of shooters that prefer to have about a 80-90% fill rate for the bag to mold better. Sorry I'm not much help there! What I've found is that a lot of shooters "misuse" the gamechanger as a rear bag in a way that is not efficient, if that makes sense. I could definitely do a video on how I use it as a rear bag.
@tjfischer95479 ай бұрын
@@velayo_0317 a video would be awesome! I am forsure one of those shooters that probably misuses it. Lol

Why two stage trigger versus a single stage trigger?
@ericrumpel31059 ай бұрын
....so can you input into the garmin as much data as the kestrel, in other words - does it do everything the kestrel does minus the wind reading?,.....& also with the exception of the garmin requiring the use & app on your phone?

What do you use to lube your bolt? Total random question, I know, but I've been having issues. Dry bolt sticks. Boar tech Friction XP gums up so quickly. Now imusing Hoppes 9 black with a tiny bit of grease on the lugs. Recommendations???
@velayo_03179 ай бұрын
I love using Lucas oil gun lube. Works great. A little goes a long way. You can also use their Lucas Oil Fishing Reel Oil, its slightly thinner. In dusty conditions, however, I'll run my action dry and just rely on the nitride.
