I guess $1200 isn't exactly budget, but in my mind they are budget compared to the $2000+ Swaro's, Leica's and Zeiss high end stuff. Pretty funny though now that you pointed that out.

Why "don't boil snow"?

This is just a recommendation from Jetboil and really its for their Titanium stove that they don't make anymore. The rings on the bottom would melt off the base of the pot melting snow.

Boiling snow will damage the fins on the bottom of the cup. Mainly on the titanium model
