What's in my sewing box?
Everyone's sewing boxes are so personal to them. A mixture of tools and art, with a few memories and keepsakes, sewing boxes are beautiful snapshots of what and how you work. Join me as I meander through the contents of my ever-evolving sewing box.

Sewing boxes really are very fascinating. Mine is not quite what I want it to be, but some day I hope to have a sewing box that brings intense happiness and tells a beautiful story of the work of my own hands. ❤

Thank you for sharing I look forward to seeing your collection. This was sooo interesting. I haven't ever heard history on sewing box and I love history can not believe I haven't thought to look into the history of them before. This has inspired me today! I feel like a child, can't wait to see your sewing box collection video and learn more history. Blessings

What a lovely box. It is wonderful that you have reconditioned and recreated a sadly abused antique. Thank you for sharing her with us. I adore your egg cup pincushion and sweetly salvaged teacup. I have a fun little eggcup that is no longer usable as a breakfast dish … yours is an inspiration for me!

This box is so inspiring. I keep most of my things in the drawer sof an antique Singer seeing machine, in tin boxes and, ho shame, plastic boxes. Love from Québec.

I agree that sewing boxes are also memory boxes. They just always turn out that way and it's great seeing other people's treasures

I have just bought a Victorian sewing box! It will need some restoration but the blue silk lid lining and a few compartment cushions are still in place with the original tray! To say I’m excited would be an understatement ✨ Thanks for the amazing video

When i was a kid i took sewing lessons from Mrs Hancock at the original Hancock's Fabrics that she and her husband found and operated. She was very serious that a young lady really needed a sewing box to maintain get sewing tools so she could create and maintain beautiful clothing for her home and family. NY first sewing box was a purple basketry style sewing box, which i recently have to my teenage granddaughter. One of my treasures is a metal Whitman candy tin that my grandmother kept her embroidery floss in. It was always tangled and I've spent many hours untangling those threads so she could teach me to embroider and cross stitch. It's currently full of embroidery floss on thread winders. It's on my chair in front of my recently acquired 1910 Singer treadle machine. After some much needed love and maintenance, I'm going to learn to see on it. 😊

This taught me that I need a sewing box, especially because everything sewing related that I have is so messy. Can't wait for the tour of other sewing boxes!❤

I am collecting sewing box tables :) I have just gotten my 4th and i am in love. Just like you,I cant get myself to remove the insides or the things that comes along, so when i got a hold of the latest, it was a thrill to see that it was emty. Mine is one of thoese who have rooms that is attatched but can be pulled out to the sides and leaves you with 4 smaller rooms and one large one at the bottom. It not normal to finde it with legs here in Denmark. Notmally it would have handles,so you can carry it around. This one is designed to be a small side table as well. Now i am working on needle books and cushins for it. I haven't desided what all goes in there yet but i can't wait for it to be functionel again :)

I love looking for antique sewing items, but I've never seen tops like you have on your spools and bobbins. Absolutely beautiful ❤ Currently I use tote bags for crochet projects and a small plastic "tackle box" for hand-sewing projects. I have a 3-legged sewing box to fix up, and love seeing what you have done with all your compartments in your box. Thankfully I also have a dresser and a room to organize all my tools in 😂. Working on minimizing and sharing the love 😅❤

Thank you! Yes, like you, I also have a dresser full of supplies, and my work table has drawers under it full of thread. ... and perhaps more than a few boxes in the garage of fabric and notions and yarn and ribbons and trims, etc., etc., etc. 😂 But my box is kind of my first go-to, or daily driver of things.

I don't really have a sawing box yet, I am very young and relatively new to this hobby but I already know that I've found my lifelong passion. I'm at the beginning of my journey but I'm excited by the thought that many years down the line I'll have a beautiful box filled with both tools and memories like yours

Great timing, I was just talking about you and your videos today! I do bobbin lace and have enjoyed your lace videos, but I’ve never tried tatting. Today a friend offered to give me some tatting shuttles. So I guess I’ll be watching all your tatting videos now too! By the way, I love your sewing box! Mine is a bigger cantilever box on legs. I guess it’s from the 50s or 60s maybe, it belonged to my Nan (I’ve also got her sewing machine from the 70s) so not exactly antique but it is sentimental. I’ve never really thought about the contents being so personal, I think I’ll be looking at it differently next time I open it!

This was an incredible video! I’ve recently gotten into antique sewing boxes and kits so seeing yours was a delight! I wonder if you might show us how you made your cardboard dividers?

I just rewatched this one too, to get a closer look at your custom tray! I love the extra hidden compartments, so clever! I had been thinking about making two whole trays to stack on top of each other, but now I’m thinking I might try something similar to yours where it’s one tray but parts of it have 2 layers. I need to do some planning! Thank you for the inspiration!
