Thanks for the rundown of your discs and cart. I really think your selection methodology is logical and well-organized. I also like your discipline regarding the 11s in waiying until you were ready. I was a bit surprised that you didn't make a layer at 9s (Valkyrie, Roadrunner, Thunderbird) before adding in the 11s. Thanks again.

Funnily enough I experimented with the entire range of Innova 9-speed discs and there just wasn't enough differentiation to replace the 7 speeds, or to supplement them, so I bumped up a step to the speed 11 discs. The Mamba, Maya, and Mystere all have 2.0cm rims (per digital calipers) and the Wraith (per digital calipers) has a 2.1cm rim, but have the same speed rating. Basically the 6-7 speeds are what I feel most comfortable throwing. The one 9-speed I had in my cart the most in the past year has been a 170g Champion Valkyrie that came from a starter pack, which is an absolute bomber for me. But I swapped it out for the 7-speed Banshee because I need the firebird-style disc more. I've experimented with a Roadrunner and Sidewinder and the Sidewinder is actually more stable than the Walk, and the Roadrunner the same stability in my hands. So yeah there is a lot behind my decision. I did have a few in the bag but they eventually got removed over time. 🙂

@@NickCarroll Thanks, Nick. This all makes sense. I bought a Star Mamba recently, and was not getting the turn I was expecting. I assumed it was that my arm speed is just not there. Anyway, it decided to go swimming, so we've ended our relationship. 🤪 I have found a DGA Sail in the used bin at a local retailer. It will be my indicator that I'm ready for 11s. I also found a beautiful G-Star Leopard (175g) in the same bin. I absolutely love it, and is quite the step up from my original lightweight DX Leopard.

@@alanlundberg4534 I really need to get a few more discs in that G-Star plastic. Some of them fly even better than Star (for my arm speed) because I can get them up to speed better. I actually went from DX to Pro to Star Leopard, but all the Leo3's I've thrown have been in Star or Champ plastic.

@@alanlundberg4534if you have a slower arm speed, go for g star because they tend to be less stable than star plastic. Also, try to find them in lighter weights. I would suggest around the 160-165 gram range. The reason is that you get the benefit of the extra arm speed from a lighter disc, but it’s not so light that wind absolutely blows it away. My g star mamba is a blast to throw.

@@serenityinsilence Thanks. I actually have since bought a 148g G-Star Mamba. It has become my go-to driver.

I agree with switching discs during winter months. I use a Halo Aviar as a straight approach disc, but swap to the old test run R-Pro Aviars that are closer to a blowfly floppiness. I'll use a HaloGlow Aviar3 for driving putter, but switch it for an SSSS Wizard. It is crazy how R-Pro has changed over the last 10+ years, getting closer to Pro plastic at times. Haven't tried the newer "soft pro" yet.
@NickCarroll Жыл бұрын
Yeah the difference between my R-Pro Pig - which is tough and rigid, compared to the R-Pro Rhyno, which is a bit softer, and the disc deforms much easier. (also for some reason, harder to straighten out than my Pig, or most R-Pro discs I have)
@zachocracy Жыл бұрын
I understand that, been there! I have a stack of 20 R-Pro Aviars and when I waffle it too much from tree hits it becomes a back logged putter. My putting putter (R-Pro Aviar P&A) is so waffled it goes laser straight, feels like cheating haha

@@NickCarroll thanks so much! Your Pimp My Cart video is still a favourite video of mine! We actually just got a storage box from discgolf3dprints on etsy that is a great addition to a compact cart! We'll be doing a review on it soon! And you mentioned cold... we're going to be reviewing skis for our compact cart so that we can use it in the snow up here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Thanks for your dedication to your videos Nick! Happy Holidays to you and all the best in 2024 brotha!

Hi Nick, I've been watching your videos for years and they are great! I know you are in texas which is flatter but do you have any experience with the cart on hilly rough terrain? I'm from the Pittsburgh area and all of our courses are hilly.
@NickCarroll Жыл бұрын
There are some courses this is a bear to move around for _parts_ of them, but not the entire course. Texas Army Trail, Little Egypt come to mind. We played the Flying Armadillo in San Marcos and that was fairly hilly. I have backpack and bag options, and I leave an Innova Excursion backpack in the car in case I just want to load it up with discs. Nearly my full loadout can fit in it, if needed.

Hey nick, enjoying all the vids. With the disc rack installed. Do you think you can fit a hoodie down there?
@NickCarroll Жыл бұрын
You can, but you'd have to put the 2 utility pouches that come with the cart, have to be moved elsewhere. For myself, I have those 2 pouches, and 2 sets of Rode Wireless Go 2 mics, and 1 glasses case is all I can fit in there now.

Thanks for the quick reply. With all the mod options. Compact cart looks like the winner for me.

I bag a banshee and a shark3 as well. Those discs do not get the love hey deserve.
