+Yaser Naderi So true. Many years ago I remember visiting a wildlife preserve with my family, and a car drove up seemingly out of nowhere, opened the door, let their dog out, and drove off. The dog took off after the car, and we never saw the car or the dog ever again...

As a rabbit owner myself I have this to say: rabbits are a lot of work. If you are not willing to put in extra effort and time just like a dog or cat then DON'T GET THAT RABBIT. That goes for all animals too

True that! People seem to think rabbits are an easy alternative to a dog or cat, but they are such sensitive and curious creatures and need more than a lonely hutch in the shed. Bunnies are a big deal!

+Charzard king01 Yeah, bunnies are often even harder to care for than a dog or a cat! Which is precisely why I don't have a bunny, and probably won't be able to get one until I'm 88.

+Meiyumi Suzuki (Mei) True; a kitten fostering friend once told me about a couple of cops who brought in a box they found in the middle of a road at night, containing five newborn kittens, one of whom was already dead. She raised up the four, and her rescue group found homes for them. At least the good in this story outweighs the bad; the cops, who could've kept on driving; my friend, who fed and bathed them every two hours for three weeks; and the rescue group, who donate so much time, effort, and money to saving others' trash, versus one a-hole who couldn't be bothered to drop them at a shelter, much less wait until they're weaned and find them homes. Humans.

+Jessy Blank Nice, mine too. It's usually when they have been treated well and not "harassed" that they're good like that. I think that the kind of people that would dump a rabbit wouldn't treat it well, and it looks quite well cared for. Which makes me wonder why it was dumped.

Sad thought, forgive me, but reading what people are saying about the probability it came from a home in which it was loved - I am thinking we are seeing a weird kind of a hateful crime. Someone new to the family or home wanted to punish someone else in the home. Perhaps not a family member but someone who knew where the key was kept? At any rate, the rabbit is safe, so we'll never know how this came to happen.

It's possible that the original owner died, and the relatives didn't want the rabbit so they dumped it. I'm glad it found a good home.

most likely someone who thought that bunnies are easy to keep because alll he ever saw was how they look for their first year of life and quite frankly most likely someone who was told in the zoological shop that this is miniature bunny and wont be so big when it grows up, the mistake that most people do in that situation is to not ask how big exactly it is going to be... So its partly owner fault partly zoological shop wanting to make money out of frankly gullible or misinformed people. i do agree that this is wrong way to handle the situation that is dropping said bunny in the wildlife center and its quite sad but its not exactly the owners fault all the time.

Hi Wildlife Aid, watching this video made me think of the time that I rescued my rabbit. Someone had dumped a baby rabbit on the side of a road at the entrance of a forest near to where we live. He is black and white and is very fluffy so we could easily tell that he was domesticated and some stupid people had dumped him thinking he would just join in with his 'friends' (wild rabbits) and live a normal life in the forest. Of course he didn't know what to do and so we found him in this ditch, dirty and on the verge of death. My mum picked him up without a struggle and we took him to the vets. He was just very weak and luckily we got to take him home! We put found posters up in the area but no one claimed him. 4 years later I still have my gorgeous fluffy bunny called Lucky and he was my first proper pet. I have always had a close connection with animals and I aspire to be a vet one day. Thank you for all the work you do :) xx

Circumstances can drastically change within the long lifespan of a rabbit. You become disabled and lose your home and job, get made redundant, get sued, get kicked out of the house with your pets by abusive parents, etc.

bradb3rry i really wanted to adopt a rabbit instead of buying one. My animal shelter didnt have any rabbits but I turned to rescue groups in my area. But sometimes those home inspections from rescues are DIFFICULT to pass. After over a year of getting nowhere, I ended up buying a pet. Now I absolutely adore my little rabbit. Shes litter trained and adorable and so sweet. Shes definitely a part of my family. So i dont think home inspections should be a thing because it turns people off from adopting and into buying. :(

It saddens me to see this, rabbits are the pets that are put up for re-homing most because people don't understand the care and space needed. I have a rabbit who runs around the whole living room with personal corner to herself for when we shut her up at night, every rabbit should have access to a large area to roam.

In my country, rabbit is known as easy to die animal. Because people didnt know how to care of them and overfeeding them with vegetables and water. Not pellet or hay. And since it's cheap, it can be bought easily as a first time or beginner pet when rabbit is not an easy pet to have.

Wow, that's so sad! I'll never understand how one can abandon his pet. I could never do this. I heard about people abandoning their dogs at the highway. +MichyChan Yeah, my doggy was a rescue because some jerk had ditched her (after beating her up, as evidenced by the scar on her face), and then someone rescued her, and then that lady gave her to me, and that's how I got Carmel! I can't imagine how anybody could have possibly even thought about doing those things to her. I mean, she's such a pretty doggy, and she's smart, and she has big brown eyes full of love, and she's so nice, and she would never bite you, and she's awesome! How could anyone be so mean to someone like Carmel or like the bunny in the video?

I've heard of people tossing pets out sometimes in the middle of nowhere. I won't praise the people that left this rabbit in a box but least it had a better chance compared to those toss out into the wilderness. A tiny shred of compassion was spared enough for the bun to be put in the care it deserves. I hope this rabbit lives a happy life. 🐰

So sad that people acquire pets and then realize that the animals take time and money to care for them.

This video warmed my heart! I'm so glad you guys found this sweet creature before something dreadful happened, and gave her a chance despite it not being part of your duties. But I have to ask, what should people do about lost or abandoned animals? Obviously a wildlife care centre is not the right place, but is there a specific organisation to call if you find a domestic animal in trouble? Or is it just a case of calling your local animal shelter?

+RaygirlROL There are many pet rescue centres who do an absolutely amazing job of rescuing and rehoming lost or abandoned furries like rabbits and guinea pigs. Rescue centres in Surrey include Furry Friends Animal Rescue furryfriendsrescue.co.uk.gridhosted.co.uk, Bobtails Rabbit and Guinea Pig Rescue www.bobtailsrescue.org.uk and the RSPCA of course.

I just wanted to thank Wildlife Aid helping me know what to do when my cat brought in an injured baby rabbit. Luckily, my local wildlife rescue group took it in, but I wouldn't have known who to contact if I didn't watch these videos. Thanks again! :D

Ask my mom (deceased) My older brother and I named our puppy after the dog she grew up with. A couple of years later "we" moved hundreds of miles away and she left the dog at the old house.

If you don't want your pet, at least give them a new home at like a shelter or let them free in the wild. DON'T and NEVER chain them somewhere or chain them somewhere to slowly die. That is just one of the most heartless thing anyone can do.

People are disgusting. My BF told me that on the street he used to live on, someone was driving down the road and threw a puppy out the window! Just like that. And apparently that wasnt the only time it happened. :(((( Im glad that bunny found a home. All creatures deserve a chance. You guys are awesome.

These are desperate times for some humans. Before deciding that they are BAD people, try to remember that some folks are just not able to handle pet care. May not have been theirs, may have been abandoned elsewhere. Thank you, for accepting this little one to a new home.

it's so visible from the rabbit's eyes that he knows he's been abandoned. people should not have pets if they can't care for them. a big hug to the person who gave this fellow a second chance.i'm sure bunbun will be a delightful pet. xx

I've always felt that calling people "animals" is a very wrong expression. I'll throw in a Gandhi quote here: "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated"

It takes a whole lot more than that to give a rabbit a happy live. A partner/friend, at least 8 square meters of room for each, "toys" and things to destroy/chew on, a mainly hay based diet with vegetables, fruits and different plants as snacks/other food and if possible something to dig in. They also love high places and you really shouldn't give them much lettuce as it isn't all that good for them, carrots aren't either really.

agree 100% w/ luna fowler, & lets not forget the vet bills!!! buns are considered "exotics" by vet world.. you need to find a bunny "specialist" .. they have very specific medical needs... sone common treatments for cats & dogs can kill them
