There are just a few days of this blasted twilight left, I have spent the summer blanketed in clouds so not had the chance for NLCs so my time has been taken up with planning for the return of the dark. I have several core shots in mind, now if we could just do something about these clouds (I hate clouds just in case you were wondering how I felt about them).

Saw some Perseids last night while watching for Delta Aquariids. Now that I have a good camera I've been scouting around for night photography locations. Looking forward to the Perseids peak and been enjoying the Milky Way more now that I've found a few spots a short drive away.

Specifically planned to go out last nite, missed it, so I switched to tonight instead. Cool coincidence! Love the guide and timing! Best of luck with the new book, and have a Awesome August! (Its my bday month so, ya know, extra epicness to Everyone!) Rocking a S22Ultra and a couple newer gopros, no tracker, just starting in stacking as Ive nearly maxed out on filters, masks, etc. without getting technical as hell. Trying to figure out the moon first, and varying background and foreground with milkyway in just several stacked photos... still figuring out a process that works for the flow, ya know? Lol cheers all

I’ve pre-ordered your book (super excited with anticipation) and I’m hoping it covers how to do astrolandscape stacking in Linux. When I Google search on software options for astrolandscape stacking, only two software packages come up: Sequator (windows) and Starry Landscape Stacker (Mac OS X). If your book doesn’t cover this, could you do a video on how to do astrolandscape stacking in Linux?
@AlynWallace2 жыл бұрын
In that case you have to do it manually in Photoshop. You will have to stack once for the foreground and then again after aligning the stars, then you blend the stars back onto the foreground. Sadly as not many people are using Linux there's not really a demand for this video but I think theres a tutorial on lonelyspeck.com

It's too bad that I can really get noctilucent clouds at my latitude 68.3°N. Some may assume that the very long nights of fall spring and most of winter and a solid month with no sunrise in the middle of winter would compensate, but not really. Photographing other phenomenon doesn't replace a desire to capture something you're geographically prohibited from capturing. Where I live it's super expensive to fly south, so given the uncertain nature of being in the right place at the right time, unless I move down to something around 50°N, I'm unlikely to see them.
