My crazy theory: Clara is inside the Vault. She was trapped in there because having her wondering around could have destroyed the universe, but the Doctor still liked to open the Vault sometimes and hang out with her and have tea together. P.S.: I'm kidding obvsly. But who knows :P

Ahahahahahaha...absolutely not. I think the majority of fans would kill themselves if Clara even showed her face in the show again. That and Jenna said she'd never come back because she was done with the character. Moffat isn't as clever as you're allowing him to think he is. The Simm return was not meant to be leaked to the public, but the BBC are morons and insist on not only having pre-screenings (which are always a bad idea) but also including a trailer in said pre-screening that contained an enormous spoiler (again, true BBC fashion 'we spoil our own shows so every body else doesn't have to') which they knew full well they couldn't trust A.) the journalists who attended the pre-screening or B.) the public who attended the pre-screening, to keep quiet. It leaked almost that evening that Simm was coming back, and forced the BBC to release it to the public. So tell me why, exactly, they couldn't have simple kept the Simm reveal out of all trailers? Why were they not able to do that? Because, again, they wouldn't be the BBC if they didn't over share everything about the show.

Lots and lots of theories but I got to say I think Moffet has it planned out this time. It's his last season, I doubt he would do something like that. As for what I think is in the vault I like that Omega theory. This season seems to be throwing in a lot of Classic-Who references, and something like that would make sense with the atmosphere being created. I could also see Missy and The Master having reasons for wanting to release him which neatly ties them in. Having said that, I wouldn't mind a bad wolf situation. I see your point with why it sucked, but I honestly kind of liked it.

For long time I heard there were 3 co-founders of Time Lords - Rasillon, Omega and the Third... theories goes that it was pre-regeneration Doctor and that's why his name is so important to be hidden. However there is a possibility that behind the door (for me it's just the door not the actual Vault, unless it's Time Vault somehow) might be the Third. There might be also (as for big guns): amalgation of Doctor's darkness, the hybrid or even some kind of creature that wants to 'repair' the world that Doctor 'broke' with his interfering in the flow of time and events.

The Other was the third theorised founder of the Time Lords, who according to the Doctor Who wiki, threw himself into the Loom which is used to birth new Time Lords. It is thought the Doctor may be him, reconstructed from the Loom.

I guess four possible things inside the vault (Sorry for bad english): 1.) River Song In "Knock, Knock" you see that whaterver is in the vault only can communicate by songs from a piano. What is possible a computerised River captured from the library. That would explain, why the doctor is opening the Vault. (But this theory isn't very convincing) 2.) Clara: After beeing trapped between two moments. Clara went crazy and the doctor keep her in the vault. This could also explain, why the master could be interessted in the vault. (Also not very logical, because Jenna Coleman said, that she wouldn't be on Doctor Who again) 3.) Lady Me: Same as Clara 4.) Jenny: This is the longest theory. Jenny was first introduced as the daughter of the doctor in season 4. At the end of the episode she stole a spaceship and flies away and isn't seen in future episodes. Or is she? If she regenerated, turned by whoever into a human, brought to the 18. Century as maid of Madame Vastra and later trapped in the vault, the charakter technicalle never left the show. Also it could be possible that she after the death of the 12. Doctor take over the steering wheel of the TARDIS as new "Doctor". Its a long and complex theory but works logically with the Who-Universe. P.S: Sorry for bad english, again. :/

Wow this Doctor in the vault theory actually makes more sense after the end of "Knock Knock". It could be that the fake Doctor is tricking Nardole and at the end of "Knock Knock", he came in to feed the real Doctor and dismissed Nardole so he didn't know he was being tricked.

I think the superhero from the Christmas special eventually transformed into someone extremely powerful and dangerous. Therefore, he had to be locked in the vault. Also, remember that those brain creatures will return, as one of them has taken over the body of a unit officer. Maybe whatever is in the vault has something to do with that.

Since Moffat started this hybrid thing last series, and this is his final series as head writer, I'm expecting him to wrap it up instead of introducing a new plot arc. The 'thing' the doctor has mentioned, might be the Hybrid destroying gallifrey, and as a result, the doctor made an oath to protect the rest of the universe from it.

I would say it's now unlikely that there's another incarnation of the Doctor in the vault. I know 'Knock Knock' aired after this but at the end there's piano playing in the vault and it stops when the Doctor talks but starts up when the Doctor mentions the jepordy of the children. The Doctor also feels safe enough to enter the vault itself, so probably not some creature. He also says 'I know you miss it all' as in it's something that was once outside of the vault. Ergo, it wasn't bred or born in the vault. I know the Master is still the obvious answer but I'm not sure seeing as it's the obvious solution.

Lots of interesting theories! I really enjoy your videos! Though I really expect the Master. When it comes to season arcs there needs to be something exciting and something that the fans would enjoy. As much as I'd love to see Omega, it would be a bit anticlimatic to the fans who only knew modern Who. Similar to series 8, the identity of the mysterious being is the real question, so I'd expect the outcome to be something like that. The Master, especially John Simm's incarnation, has already proved himself to be a major threat, one surpassing death itself, so it's not a stretch to stick him in a vault. That also allows Missy to roam free using his identity. If that is the case then her reasoning for releasing him is questionable -- wouldn't that call her true nature into doubt? Then again, she never seemed much like the Master to me, and it could have all been a ruse to get closer to the Doctor. Perhaps she needs to shed that identity. Maybe we learn more about her as well to add to her insane character. We'll see, I suppose.

I have a theory for you. I think that the Doctor and River's child is in the vault, or there's a possibility that Bill is the daughter of River and 12. Now, if they had a child in their 24 years together, they couldn't possibly keep it, because of all their enemies. So they'd have to either do something to protect it, like put it in a "vault" (though much more comfortable and homey) OR take it to another planet and have someone raise him/her, and what planet is the Doctor's favorite? And he sure wouldn't take the child to Gallifrey. And wouldn't it make more sense that the Doctor put Nardole back together (probably at River's request) to help care for the child, in some way? Say, putting them on Earth, where Nardole secretly guards the child from distance, as they wait for the child to grow up enough that they can tell it the truth? But wait, you say, Bill doesn't look like River or 12! Well, here's a question. On the rare occasion Timelord's have a child the old fashioned way, DOES it look like the incarnation that conceived it? Or, like the regenerations, is it a lottery? (Then there's River's "Melody" version, right before she came River). Now, why do I think this? Well, the biggest clue to me was the first episode of this season, when 12 calls Bill to his office...how often has he done something like that in Nu Who? And then he glances at his desk while talking to her. On the desk is a picture of River, the Doctor's WIFE, and Susan, his GRANDDAUGHTER. Now, who's missing between those two? Also, Bill has a lot of RIver's personality in her. She doesn't take no for an answer, she stands up for what she believes in, she isn't afraid to question the Doctor, with questions so hard (on the Doctor) not even Donna would ask them. She also shows the independence of both River and 12, in wanting to keep her social/everyday life seperate from the Doctor. Now, if Bill IS the child of River and 12, who's in the vault? Maybe, aside from Nardole, it's the only other person (?) who knows she exists...and s/he can't be trusted to keep it a secret. Like Missy/The Master. Anyway, that's my take.

DravenGal Peter has wanted Carol Ann Ford to come back to the show, and it doesn't seem like she'd mind either, do I think it'd be cool if the doctors daughter/son was in the vault and Susan comes back to free her mother/father. But if this (or that the Doctor and Rivers child is in the vault) is the case, they would need to explain why Susan travels with the First Doctor, when he obviously doesn't meet River until his 10th regeneration, and not fall in love until his 11th.

Actually the doctor has said he is over 2k years old before i think it was episode one of this season so it might be the fact that its actually river or maybe its missy also as for susan she was his granddaughter from marriage before first who season no relation to river so at most it would be aunt not mother if the theory the bill is the doctors and rivers daughter is true which i doubt but would be cool with if it were also we see in the one picture of her mother bill has we see the doctor in the reflection of a picture on the wall holding the camera so maybe bill could also be his granddaughter.

The Master is a plausible guess. Rassilon knows about the 4 knocks too so it could be him. As for the 13th Doctor / Valeyard situation, a metacrisis Doctor would kinda make sense (limited regeneration capability, slightly less concerned about killing folks). Missy would stop trying to bring 12 over to her side and manipulate the Valeyard instead

About the cracks: The Gallifrey crack was a new one. The Doctor even said that he knew what caused it because he had seen it before. The old cracks were the TARDIS explosion. Though a bit underwhelming, that storyline did conclude with a reasonable explanation to all effects the cracks had.

I have one main theory of who is in the vault, that is very very far fetched and but links to the previous series. The master, or missy's daughter..... going back to the episode, witches familiar, missy uses Clara as bait to catch a Dalek, she starts to talk about the dark star. She tells Clara that the doctor got this from her when her daughter.... and that's when she ends, we don't know anything else about her daughter but the way she says "when my daughter" implies that either her daughter has died or she had left, maybe she was in prisoned and now is being kept in a vault as her punishment. The doctor being a kind friend, wants to care for her, so like tonight's episode, he buys her a piano and he goes into the vault himself and eats a takeaway with her but cannot release her as it may affect his punishment. So maybe the prisoner is only a prisoner of galifrey and not one of the doctor, so she maybe harmless.

I think it's the Valeyard, that guy is overdue for a return (more or less). Anthony Ainley's Master said that the Valeyard came somewhere between the Doctor's 12th and last regeneration. The Doctor's had three #12's now: Ten's first regeneration (life #12 from Journey's End to End of Time Part 2), the Eleventh Doctor (face #12), and the Twelfth Doctor, and Twelve is on his way out.

pretty sure the "not straight forward regeneration" is hinting to Peter's doctor slowly dying/fading as we seen with his eyes, they look fine but he's still blind. Perhaps more of this will happen such as losing the ability to use his legs or arms next.

Way back in "Army of Ghosts"/"Doomsday" it was proposed that the Daleks and Cybermen join forces. This is a complete stretch, but it'd be cool to see a hybrid of the two in the Vault. I'm imagining a Cyberman with a Dalek's "skirt" instead of legs, with the wrist lasers replaced by Dalek blasters. The voice would be a blend of the two too, or maybe both voices speaking in unison

A friend of mine thinks it's the first doctor, because the first doctor was a bit different than the current and most recent generations. It (whatever is in the vault) responded to the dark phrase around "People dying" or something like that by continuing to play the piano in a happy tone. I guess they fired on the actor who played the first doctor in a TV movie called "an adventure in time and space" to play a part towards the end of season 10. It would be quite a twist if it was a loop back to the first doctor... We shall see....

Its most likely the next doctor in the vault. When Tom baker was ending his role of the 4th doctor, he kept getting visitations from an unknown being and refused to let anyone know who or what it was, but in the end, it turned out the be Peter Davidson taking over the role.

I think what capaldi meant was that the regeneration is going wrong, since this is a new set of regeneration maybe somethings going wrong and it's rapidly changing from capaldis dying body to the 13th and in the Christmas special they need to do something to keep it on the 13th body to keep the doctor alive.

my theory is that the master is in there but when the time comes for the vault to be broken but when the master escapes he disappears but I think in the Christmas special the master appears in the scene of the doctor regenerating and when someone shot the master he regenerates as well

I heard some rumors circulating that the Mondasian Cybermen were in the vault. Apparently one of the Doctors previous incarnations locked a Cyberman or two away in a vault at one point in time. Classic Who experts correct me on this?

I think it's John Simm's master in there because the 10th doctor said there is nowhere safe for him, he would just have to keep him. Of course circumstances made sure that didn't happen but we never saw John Simm's master die and regenerate into missy. Maybe the 12th doctor ran into John Simm's master at a different point in his time like (hence the beard now) and decided to keep his promise and just keep him. I then believe missy will let him out the vault, because Nardole set the door to friends only, missy is a friend of the doctor and they will work together and at the end of the series we see John Simm regenerating into Missy

Ok, remember at the end of the last episode, Knock Knock, the doctor brought Mexican food to the vault-thing. He then told it that he had a story, but Vault-thing didn't seem interested UNTIL he mentioned there were young children getting eaten. Vault-thing obviously likes that idea. Now think back to the End of Time, where the master went insane and started eating people. If the master is in the vault, then that would be a good reason as to why it responded to cannibalism. John Simm's Master is probably in the vault and if he can return, the Mondasian Cyberman can too. The Master and the Mondasian Cybermen have both been confirmed for S10.

It's got to be John sims because last episode he had a piano, and with tom bakers master he played a piano and said he had lessons. Also in the 3part John sims master episode when he tried to take over the world he said he'd do that last due to he liked Mexican food. And in episode 4 the doctor bought Mexican food to the vault

Full confusion mode? It's a pocketed version of Darillium where time has slowed down even further. The doctor kept an android version of himself and Nardole outside to make sure no one interrupts their 'happily ever after' (which is why the doctor's blindness isn't a big deal maybe? His android eyes broke yeah, but that could be fixed later. Also explains why a form of technology could fix the hue on his eyes but not any damaged components?) Lots of holes in this theory but it's a fun speculation.

I like the idea of the doctor actually being being in the vault (either the current or the next regeneration). Not that the one outside of the vault is fake though. I mean, the doctor works in a twisted way. So he gets trapped before the current seasons timeline starts, he knows that two people can't be in the timeline together without repercussions, so what better way to guarantee you don't run into you. A time vault of sorts, locking himself inside, but setting things up so that past him is guarding the vault. He knows then that, if the vault is unguarded, the version of him that was isn't there any more and its safe to exit. Paradoxical in nature, but paradox isn't a new hat in the Whoverse.
