Great video. Need you to convert to compression pants with shorts. Way more comfortable. I starting doing this in the past year and will never go back to traditional pants on the flats.

Could you guys do a gear (Rod, Reel, Line, Backing, Flies, etc.) info video on off shore/blue water fly fishing?

That's a good idea, I'm headed for Baja soon to try and catch some Dorado and that would be a good topic.

First off just wanted to say thanks for doing these types of travel / travel prep videos. My wife and I are getting ready to go on our first Bahamas trip next year and they are really helpful. On your website it looks like Simms makes a similar type sling pack to the Fishpond - both around the same price. Do you recommend one over the other? Thanks again!

HI Phil, the Fishpond has a few more features and an exterior pocket that I like. It's a really good pack and one of the more feature rich submersible packs.

Great vid! Would you use that bag for fresh water or is it a little overkill. Thanks and keep the vids coming.
@redsflyshop6 жыл бұрын
I do use it for freshwater sometimes, but its a bit overkill on price for that unless you are consistently in a rainy environment. I do really like it and what I didn't point out is the net holder built into the back.

Brutusman, I have the Thunderhead back pack and I attach the chest pack that was made to attach to it, the quick release Rod holder. Awesome setup, have everything you need. I'm out 12 hours plus on the Water, if it gets a little heavy, I just take it off for awhile.

You didn’t touch on the quick shot rod holder, how do you set that up without affecting your back cast if you are right handed?
@redsflyshop5 жыл бұрын
I gotta be honest here. I can't stand having a "strung up" rod on it. I do better jamming the rod under the strap on my left and side and kind of holding it with my elbow. It DOES however work great for holding a rod in sock or tube.

Do you like the sling better than a full pack?
@redsflyshop3 жыл бұрын
Yes, much better. I have used backpacks when I would carry big cameras, but other than that reason I like to be able to leave the pack on and swing it around in front of myself to get inside it.

The front pocket is not waterproof it water resistant and the worst place to keep a phone or toilet paper.
@redsflyshop6 жыл бұрын
Good point, that zipper is not submersible. No matter where you put that stuff it should be in a waterproof plastic bag for sure.
