excellent video !!!! I liked it and learnt something very useful! thanks!

Very nicely explained. Learned a lot. Thanks for the detailed effort. I have a transmission seems always at natural. Both the driving pulley and the wheels can rotate freely no matter which gear you shift into. This video made me have some sense of how the thing works. Thanks again.

Already looking forward to next week's video, where you show high-speed camera footage, of this open transaxle experiencing a 3600 rpm Neutral Drop into Forward Gear. Gonna' be great! Safety glasses, everyone.

Followed by a video about what it looks like when gears break in half. And how to patch holes in drywall.

Great video, I don't have to wonder how it works now. THANKS 😊

My Toro LX 420 always had sort of a whine in the transaxle and assume it's those straight teeth gears that do it. It weighs on me that the only way to find out whether or not the transaxle has enough grease in it is when it breaks some day from lack of lubrication. I wish there was a grease fitting on the housing some place and a way to check if it has enough.

Absolutely Amazing Job. I appreciate that you took your time with it to make a very good explanation and demonstration

Theres a differential too which is cool
@kevinleee34089 ай бұрын
If you still have this you should cut some holes in the differential housing so you can see the spider gears

You're right! I do have it still in the barn. Can't bear to get rid of it, and sometimes the kids like to come out and play with all the old stuff I have torn up out here.

Hey! Thanks for making this video. Do you know what the gear ratio is from input to output? What are the sizes of the gears here?
@PetersonBrosAutomation3 жыл бұрын
So there are three ratios at work there, but I only know two of them for sure. I don't have the original pulleys, so the belt ratio from engine output to transaxle input is unknown, but it's probably not too far from 1:1 - I recall the pulleys being fairly uniform in size... The first gear ratio, the bevel set, is a 1:3 ratio, and the second set to the final drive shaft is 1:7, giving a total 1:21 ratio. Approximate diameters - large bevel gear 3.5", large spur gear 6.5".

7:35, can you explain what is inside the box (with a hex nut on it) on the left side of the spur ring gear?
@PetersonBrosAutomation3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes! That is actually a differential gear set using bevel gears, similar to a normal automotive diff. The hex nut (which there are actually two) are attaching the bevel gears to the sides. The purpose is to allow one side to speed up or slow down when you are turning a corner or if one wheel meets resistance. Like when you drive through mud and one wheel just starts free spinning, the other one stops. You have to push the spinning one down into the ground to get traction to start moving again. This is the gear set that makes that happen. Here is a closeup diagram from wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Differential_(mechanical_device)#/media/File:Differential_(Manual_of_Driving_and_Maintenance).jpg

My mower goes in reverse but not forward could that be the transmission pulley or the nut is not tight enough
@Bowen_Windcalibur5 ай бұрын
I know your comment is a year old but if your mower transmission is anything like the one in this video the two nubs on the forward gear may be worn down and not engaging.

Can't see what you are showing due to camera angle....

It took you 8 months to come up with this reply? My remark was constructive criticism. With camera work like that video you won't get many subs. That's all.

070722 I SUGGEST you focus your camera on what you are talking about instead of your groin. Your video is a rare opportunity to see how these transaxles work.

It's a good show but you need to adjust your camera boss can't see what you're doing

I agree. I'm not a camera man, just handy with a few tools. But I have learned a lot since then, and If I were to do it again, I'd have much better audio and camera angles. Thanks for watching at any rate :)

I could use your help. I have a Kenmore 90 Series washer. After completing one load of wash I started a second. The tub filled with water, agitated then stopped. No matter what setting I put it in nothing happens. No humming, nothing. Another Kenmore 90 series washer was given to me. It agitated but no spin. After checking it out it was only a loose wire. Plugged it in & it went through the cycles. Put a load of cloths in & the only cycle that will now work is the spin. Any help on either one of these would be appreciated. I did notice same series but different timer control model. I did check the lid switch, both are good. I even jumped them to make sure. New time did not help any. Here is a video of what I did maybe you could direct me in the right direction.kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXmokGWcarR6b7s Thank you for any help you can provide. 👍# 215
