What an awesome dad! He's teaching his children to be interested in the way the world works and the science behind it. They're learning that science is exciting and fun and that there are creative, hands-on ways to learn. Some people live every day accepting things as they are and not giving much thought to it. Other people are curious to learn HOW the world works and how to use that knowledge to improve on what we already have. This is a special quality. I'll bet you anything these children are going to grow up fascinated by science and always want to know the "why's?" And "how's?" behind things.

Chemists learn about the properties of certain elements and compounds by determining the burn rate or by the color of the flame. Companies that produce flame-retardant materials have to check the quality by using fire on their products. Firemen burn old houses for training. Etc. Etc.
