That “motor” is actually a sensor that reads the pressure of the oil. When a person sits in the seat the pressure on the bladder compresses the oil so the system knows when there is someone in the seat for seatbelt warnings as well as passenger airbag on and off.

That gel bladder is the sensor for the seat belts... Like you know when you sit your butt down on the seat the car know is? Yeah.. if you sit on the seat the oil builds pressure and at the end that black 'box' is the pressure sensor telling the car someone is sitting there

My 2010 Prius had a sensor switch underneath for seat pressure. It got wet and fried. the seat would have had to be taken apart to fix it. The bladder is a better idea.

It's called an OCS mat. Or Occupancy Seat Sensor (OSS), it tells the car car how much the person weighs by moving liquid to a sensor, the car then adjusts safety settings.

The gel is for the cooling seat! Whenever you turn the cooled seat on the motor turns on and pumps the gel through the seat to cool it! The motor may seem small but it has a very easy job. The gel acts like one of those ice packs you get in first aid kits. Whenever there is heat and pressure it starts to become cold. Your but is the heat and the pressure!

That goo that was in the tube is what pressurizes and depressurizes the seat so you can adjust if you want it to come forward or the seat to lean back. It could also be used to transfer the heat coming from the coils.

You must not have experienced a lot of seats then...or you've only been driven American cars in your life. The seats really aren't comfortable at all. As a matter of fact, I would say they are the worst part about my M3. But I was already prepared, that when I buy an American car I get very 'couch' like seats with little side support. And thats what I got.

It’s a Delphi ( they have recently changed their name to aptiv ) pods - d system. It weighs the occupant and will enable or disable the airbag it can also changed how the airbag is set of but it depends on if the OEM has paid for that. They are only fitted to North American passenger seats. The rest of the world uses a much more basic system that is basically a switch. The thing they called a motor is not a motor it’s the ecu that measures the changed in pressure of the oil

Hi i did seat safety testing for ford for many years. The pad is a occupancy sensor . it will arm the passenger air bag system automatically. It controls both seat and dash bag .

I build high end automotive seats for a living. The bladder with oil in it is for sensing the presence of a person. he little box attached to it is a reader. The passenger has one as well. The passenger seat is connected to the air bag system and if it does sense a person the airbags will not deploy.

Im guessing the oil is for when someone sits there it puts it under pressure and that little box is a pressure sensor that needs so much pressure b4 the airbag goes off. Or it is for the seatbelt dinger. It seems alot better than just a switch under there that could be set off by take out or a case of pop. I know my seatbelt dinger goes off if I put something 20lbs or so on the seat

The bladder is a type of sensor(safet feature) that detect if someone is sitting on it or not because tesla doesn’t get in drive or reverse or not even in neutral until someone is sitting on seat ...try it.. sit inside your car put it in neutral and then just getup from the seat lil bit(without opening door) it will go straight into park
