I really can't see what he's talking about but we found a Bose CD player/radio at a yard sale for $20 and it has the best sound we have ever heard. Comparing it to other sound systems it is the best. I don't know why people put Bose down as badly as they do.

because this thing should have cost 100 dollars instead of 500 dollars in 1990s money which is like a thousand today. its a complete rip off. you should see what you can get new today in the 200 dollar range that blows this thing out of the water.

A few points of correction: There is no DSP audio in that product. The EQ is pure analog. It is constructed using both domestic and imported components from China, Japan (and others). The speakers are labeled "Made in Mexico" and were built at the BOSE plant in Tijuana and the entire product was assembled by Americans in either Westborough Mass. or Blythewood South Carolina.

The woofer uses two magnets glued together with opposing polarity for a counterbalancing effect on stray external magnetic interference.

Great video! Didn't you say that you would compare it to the cheaper Sony boombox? Also, I have a Bose soundwave from around 2010 that suddenly and ironically just stopped producing sound. Do you have any advice about what might be wrong and how I could fix it? What should I be looking for? The display still works so it's definitely still able to turn on, but the aux and radio don't work at all.

A great piece of engineering! I think that is what you are paying for when you buy one of these. For a small object the sound good. The new ones have to be controlled with the remote as they lack physical buttons-that is a bummer when the remote is misplaced.
@JoshuasRecordings3 жыл бұрын
Honestly not really. The T line enclosure is cool but nothing new. Also the sound stage is very messed up since one speaker handles lows and the other handles highs. The amp and associated dsp are not properly cooled which causes them to over heat and fail like on this unit. There are much better small sound systems for the money tbh. These are cool if you pick them up in good working condition used cheap but otherwise there's better options.

Hi! First of all, thank you so much for a great video that is very precise and informative. Now, I am in the process of searching for one of the good used bose wave old models, which seems to be the same as the model that you teared down. This is the one that I am currently thinking of buying. Now, I am a jazz lover. I also love listening to classical musics, but mostly jazz, and especially vocals. Assuming that money that I can spend is around 200 dollars, do you think that this cd player will do its best within the price range? Or do you think that there are models that may be better than this? If you know any, would you please help me out and inform me? Thank you again! I hope to hear good news from you.

Was hoping you would say more about the lack of bass that sometimes occurs. I suspect it is related to an air leak in the low side.

Nope, actually it was the amp chip for that channel was failing intermittently. Along with a few DSP problems.

I found a newer one than whats seen in this video at a thrift shop for 3 bucks. It had no remote control so nobody could test it. Unit wont work without it. I had an LG V20 phone with an IR remote built into it. I downloaded a bose remote control app that worked and the speaker worked perfectly and CD, radio, AUX, everything you could ever want. I have since bought a Bose remote off ebay and a bluetooth receiver which can plug into the AUX.

I was gifted one years ago and it won't operate. No sound at all, it just says stand by. Bose has a set of reset steps that don't work but I want to keep using it as my clock radio. Fuck bose and this bullshit. They said to take it apart and remove a non existing battery in the base.

These units are poorly made as far as the electronics and logic go. When you turn the radio off it just mutes the audio so the set is still on. The electronics in these units is a joke, 40 SMD capacitors and yes they go bad. I bought one of these at a yard sale and at least got to hear it for myself before it died on me. Display was on but not playing anything. Tore it down to try to fix the capacitors and gave up. Binned it but kept a few parts including the speaker and waveguide chamber. I have it hooked to an old car radio and it sounds just as good.

@@Count_Grishnackh This unit worked when I got it and then it decided it was calling it quits. I don't hate Bose but their amp circuits are crap. I still have the speaker/waveguide assembly and plan to build a Bose boombox out of it.
