Hello! I’m a current IGCSE student and have a confusion about Oxford requirements for the subjects. It’s already confirmed that you are required to have grades such as 8s and 9s (A and A*) but **do students have to choose at least 8 or 9 subjects to be able to apply?** I searched and it keeps saying 8 and 9 but I wasn’t sure whether it’s talking about the grade you should have or the amount of subject you need to take to be able to apply.

Successful applicants will often have grade 8s or 9s, but there are no set requirements for GCSE grades (except for passing science practicals for medicine applicants). Meaning that students can (and do) successfully apply with a mixed bag of GCSEs but with A-levels that meet the eligibility criteria. There can be good reasons why someone performs less way in a broad swathe of middle school exams, but could be expected to excel in a more narrowly focussed degree. Relatedly, there is no set number of GCSEs that are required. Again, most applicants will have >8, but there's no specific prescription.

Hi! ill be applying to Cambridge this year and was wondering if the information on your channel, regarding interviews, and other tips to maximise my chances of getting into Oxford equally applied to Cambridge. I assume most of it will work regardless of my which university it is however I was wondering if you had any advice catering to Cambridge specifically, thank you so much ! ive learned lots from your videos.

Hi, Cambridge is similar in many ways. Crucially, the assessment methodology is (I believe) similar. So, my advice on interviews and super curriculars should be transferable. There are of course some differences, so be mindful of what Cambridge recommends on their own website/KZbin etc.

Can I get into the Oxford university for medicine with AAA for Biology, Chemistry & Physics in A levels from Sri Lanka? Or do I have to take IELTS exam also? Please kindly anwer my question if you don't mind. 🙏

You need A*AA in A-levels for medicine. IELTS is not usually required if someone has taken A-levels, because they are assumed to have sufficiently good English. Hey Dr. Matt! I'm a year off applying to uni but your output has really convinced me that even just for the fun of it, I should apply to Oxford. Given that no other college produces (to my knowledge) such a wealth of resources, Jesus seems like the obvious choice when it comes to it, but I have one concern... the colours! Light green does not work well with my skin tone, and I worry that in the unlikely situation I am accepted, I wouldn't be able to confidently represent Jesus! Is this a valid concern, or are there more important factors to consider, facilities aside?!

Hi there, thanks for your comment! Jesus College has dark green as its colours, but we almost never need to wear those colours. The only time you might 'need' to wear green is if you represented the college at sports. So, I wouldn't let that be a reason not to apply!
