I missed my calling, flying a helicopter for a living would have been great. If I had the money to full fill all my responsibilities and go to flight school, I will do it in a heart beat. May be when I retire I will do it . Great video.

Hey! I remember Ceder city! Great airport and AMAZING FBO! I came in late at night on a XC to cali, and had to stop because of weather, and they were so nice and helpful, and gave me a curtesy car to take to my motel and and really took care of me!

I want to fly helicopters so bad but they’re so damn expensive. I live in Traverse City Michigan and the only place that does helicopter training wants to charge $850/hr for the R44 and that’s just ridiculous.
@SUUAviation4 жыл бұрын
Hey Marcus, we know flight training is an investment which is why we have created a video on how to finance the program. We recommend checking it out! Also, please feel free to contact us at 435-586-7862 or aviation@suu.edu and we’d love to chat with you about some options.

I want more information on that helmet and comms setup
@SUUAviation5 жыл бұрын
So the helmet is an Alpha Eagle. As far as comms, we hooked up a GoPro Hero 7 into the helicopter audio using an adapter.

I really badly want to be a helicopter pilot but I’m not sure how to do it. I’m 14 right now so perhaps I can study some stuff early, before I consider flight school. Do you have any recommendations? I live in Australia so sadly I wouldn’t be able to go to this specific place(I assume that this is in America?). I’ll just research online for now, but is there any specific essentials I’ll need to learn beforehand? Thanks!
@SUUAviation3 жыл бұрын
The earlier you start, the better. If you’d like to start learning about flying helicopters, we recommend reading the Helicopter Flying Handbook. You can either order that online or download it for free off of the FAA website. That textbook will help introduce you to basic piloting principles and is a great place to start. As for training, we are located in America and the standards across different countries are slightly different. We recommend starting to research what those requirements in Australia are. Let us know if you have any other questions, we’d love to help!

My son is a junior in high school and wants to be a helicopter pilot. He has been taking some flight lessons here in our area of Colorado through an instructor. Would any of this apply toward his degree if he enrolled in your program?
@SUUAviation3 жыл бұрын
It most likely would. If he goes as far as to get his license, he’s welcome to join and start here on his instrument rating. If he also happens to take AP or local college, courses, he can transfer those credits towards his degree as well.

I fly Apaches in the military. Never flown anything on the civilians side. All I know is the apache, and watching videos like this seem so uneventful. Maybe years down the road when I get out I might transfer to something else like ems or fire or law or something. Who knows. But wow did that helicopter look boring to fly.

Well yeah it's a student pilot program haha. They aren't going to be flying students in Apaches. That would be so unaffordable.
